I love playing Apocalypse Keys! I have found that the rules can feel a little intimidating just reading the book, but in practise you can pick them up slowly. AK is great if you want to do big action scenes while exploring trauma and toxic relationships.
Thanks for the review! The variant of PbtA where rolling high is not a good thing sounds like an interesting change But I'm not sure about not knowing whether you've fulfilled the requirements. I've had a big problem playing City of Mist, where you have a list of free-form tags and you add the number of tags that are relevant... And I kept being confused by "is Private Detective tag relevant here? is Looking for the Truth releant here?", etc., and closer to the end of the campaign I've just kept asking GM about my bonuses that work. I think I prefer a systems with clearer rules, as opposed to these that are too vague
Interesting. Also interesting that it was inspired by Hellboy. That's the comic that got me into reading comics as an adult. I'm still not completely sold on PbtA games generally, but I also haven't had a chance to actually play one to see how it works at the table. That said, this definitely seems like a game system that fits the style and vibe of Hellboy a lot better than 5e, the system they most recently used for the official RPG. In spite of being a huge Hellboy fan, I didn't even contemplate picking that up.
I backed this project when it was crowdfunding. I really love this game. Thank You for sharing your thoughts on it. 😊
The sound is really off this episode. Its barely audible
No issues here. I can hear her loud and clear.
This is one of my favourite games! Thanks so much for reviewing so more people can hear about it!

The sound is too low in this episode, Leslie.
