Proper review broski, most gear reviews are too short, it’s covid time we need longer quarantine content. To make it more of a Everyman jacket they used cheap down, which makes it bulky and heavier. If there’s no chest pocket at least give a Napoleon, especially as big as it is. Plenty cats want a big ass puffy for covid dark winter so it has its place
Nice review man. Got the retor 1996, considering this one, looks puffy but the hoodie is nice.I assume you have to zip bit lower, i wish the collar zip was bit lower. Cool jacket.
In order to lock in the correct size you will have to refer to TNF's sizing chart. Your 5'6 so you can get a regular size without worrying about a tall. You may need a medium or large. Best way is to try to stop by a TNF store and try it on. Thanks for watching .
Normally I wear Medium size on all my North Face jacket but for this one, the best fit was the Small(I’ve tried it in a shop). The medium one was to much puffy and not fit good. I like when the jacket match fitness and relaxed. So maybe go try the size under in a shop... Sorry for my English.
Hey man, first of all, great review! I need your help. I have the tnf nuptse "sherpa" and I am going to sell it to buy the new color they have recently released. I was thinking of buying the himalayan parka instead of the nuptse because of the collar and hood but my question is do they both keep warmth the same? Or is the nuptse being 700 cuins warmer than the himalayan which is 550 cuins? Could you make a comparison of both! I hope you can help me friend!🤙🏼 Greetings from Spain!🇪🇸
That's a good question. The Nuptse may be a bit warmer because the fill power is higher . I have not worn or tested the Nuptse so I cannot say for sure. This is a GREAT question because both jackets are pretty similar in baffle size. If you don't need a full sized hood then get the Nuptse. If you need a parka then get the Himalayan. The more I think about it I just can't stomach paying $330 not including tax for a parka with 550 fill power down. In 2021 your down jacket should at least have 700 fill power down. 800 to 850 is even better. 1000 fill is KING! Thanks for watching
Thank you very much for your response. I don't understand why tnf has that 550 parka for that money, it's ridiculous.... The himalayan should carry 700/800 cuin, it would be a bomb. And the nuptse lacks a fatter collar and a good hood which is what the himalayan has but 550?! Bah... Thanks again man !
Hi, Alberto Vico, 300 g of 600 down are warmer than 150 g of 700 down. I don't know how much down is into the nuptse and the Himalayan jacket but I'm sure that if the nuptse has an higher fill power, the Himalayan has a considerably higher fill weight and is loftier and warmer than the nuptse.
@@tuliovasconcelos11 down jackets like this are really warm with just a t shirt or long sleeved crew. North Face has a long sleeved Future Fleece Crew that has future Fleece on the inside so its a fleece shirt that's low profile, soft and comfy. That would be perfect to wear underneath this jacket or a rain shell in chilly wet weather. I will be doing a review on the North Face Future Fleece soon so stay tuned. Thanks for watching!!
Everybody's cold sensitivity differs...the down is only 550 but they pack it with so much that it's warm enough for most people. TNF really needs to start making these with at least 700 fill.
@@Adammadawooww No worries. In the meantime you can Google them and or softshell pants. A lot of manufacturers make them. They can be pricey though. Thanks again
Hi I happened to be in The NorthFace yesterday and saw a Himalayan Jacket but it didn’t have any #’s on the sleeve. I asked the manager and he didn’t know? By chance do you know?
When you say #'s are you referring to the down full power? If so, I'm not sure why. TNF usually has the full power on the Himalayan and a lot of their other down products. It may be a new version that omits the number or an error in production.
@@GearWave Yea King that’s the only thing that prevented me from getting it yesterday plus no hood. I ended up getting a SRA 600 but went back today and scooped it up since I had an eGift Card from Warranty Department.

Measure your chest and arms. Go to The North Face website and look at the sizing chart and see what would be the best size for your body type. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for asking 609Dully. To make sure you get the right size get a tape measure and measure starting under your arms and around your chest. Then go to the sizing chart for the jacket you want and look for a jacket with a chest measurement that falls within your personal chest measurement. For example if your chest measures 47 inches then you want to get the size that falls within 47 inches. You should probably get a size where the chest measurement is 2 to 3 inches bigger than your actual chest measurement so that you have enough room to layer if that's your taste. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
To make sure you get the right size take a look.at the size chart on The North Face website. All outerwear pieces even from the same manufacturer are NOT always cut the same. Hope this helps. Let me know if you get the jacket and what your thoughts are. Thanks for watching!!!!
They are available on the northface.com right now but this season has different colors. You may have to Google the color you want and see if it's available on a 3rd party site OR check the North Face Outlets for them. The green, red, blue, orange and purple colors dropped last winter and we're super popular so it may bit difficult to find them. Good luck and thanks for watching.

The BEST way to ensure you get the appropriate is size is to take a tape measure and measure the circumference of your chest. Take a look at the chest measurements on the sizing chart for this jacket on the website and get the size that is at least a couple inches larger than what your chest measurement is. I didn't keep the jacket. But ALL down pieces will lose some feathers naturally. Some more than others. If you lose a few feathers everytime you wear it then that's normal. If your losing more than that and your clothes underneath are covered in feathers then you may want to return or exchange it. Thanks for watching!!!
2 way zippers are usually found on mountaineering or performance oriented jackets that are longer than your waist in length. The hem zipper allows you to open the lower half of the jacket to cool down....it also allows you to bend over and have better maneuverability when you have the hem drawcord cinched. Lastly it allows rock climbers to belay a bit easier and gives them easier access and visibility to their harness.
