    Thanks again for this. Pity the Station Offices (SHQ?) have been demolished, looked like a fine structure, classic 30's architecture. Hangers and road systems, concrete curb stones (for some reason seem very important to me!) appear well preserved. Great that the station continues as a private civilian airport, ensuring its future.
    Understand this station was the hub for wartime ATA flights.

      Yes, SHQ often referred to as "Station Offices" particularly at MUs. Yes one of quite a few ATA airfields, including Aston Down and Kirkbride.
      Yes, great that the airfield is being so well used. Todays use being virtually that of its original as an MU, albeit mostly scrapping. At the end of the day, it is recycling.
