The Rock: So, James Gunn, what did you think of my movie?
James Gunn: It was great, but what if --
The Rock: IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK!
The Rock had better movies back in the day. I’ll take “Walking Tall” and “The Rundown” over his modern stuff.
Nice Cartman. Nice Cartman indeed.
The Rock stopped taking interesting roles after he got burnt by Southland Tales (2006 by Donnie Darko's Richard Kelly). It was a gigantic bomb in every sense, and from then on he took safe, YA action films where he does the same schtick, usually in a jungle. But he's literally _the highest paid actor in the world_ so he'll live with being a joyless action man!
He’s like the action version of Vince Vaughn. I’m curious to see in the future when he finally gets a shot at some kind of Oscar bait to see how he does. You know he will eventually try
@@blkplaguelmc vince vaugh could have a brendan fraser serious comeback moment easily.
the rock has the hulk hogan problem of that he looks like the rock like hogan looked like hogan. dwayne johnson is a WAY better actor but they just have "action star body". he should try for darker action roles though.
@@anthonyrowland9072 I always liked Vince but that true detectives season hurt my feelings lol
Osw in the replies?!!!
holy shit i didnt even realize it was OSW. Frankie and EJ this is a big deal!!!
Bautista shockingly has had a great streak. I never considered the Bautista gimmick as nuanced or as charismatic as his peers in wrestling.
And he’s done comedy as Drax and drama in Bladerunner
I fell asleep half way through. And the theater was empty except for ONE persons and they sat right next to me. It’s assigned seats it’s like you see there is someone next to you, why do that?
Did they help by waking you up?
Stopping by to say you guys make work pass by fast. Tremendous
You had your fun, now get back to Lethal Weapon 5 and it better be awesome.
I just wished The Rock would have stuck to Scoprion King and made lots of Conan the Barbarian-like Adventures. It's his most entertaining movie in my opinion.
I was wondering why I watch this channel... it has to be those impersonations lol
"Cartman impressions are hackish" Listen to your own advice, Bimmy never sank so low
Frankie and EJ, I haven’t seen this movie yet but I’m gonna take you guys ROODY POO CANDY ASS opinion about it, shine it up real nice and…take your word for it. Didn’t seem too interesting since I found out about it. Good talk tho
has the dude on the left seen *ANY* movie? I’m a new fan and the dude on the right is the best. It’s like the channel is the dude on the right telling dude on left movie plots lol
That's an interesting take on The Rock, being stoic in all his movies. While not being the funny one, his movies usually are light-hearted with lots of quippy stuff happening around him. So in this movie I felt it was a real departure from what he usually does, being really kind of bland. It's like when Will Smith played Hancock and people noted that he had dialed down his natural charm to play a really flat character, although it worked better in that movie. The Black Adam movie makes its lead character out to be kind of stupid too with all the catchphrase business. It's like John Connor teaching the Terminator how to use slang in T2 except the robot figured it out in one try. It takes Black Adam about five tries to get it right. Also what I've seen of John Cena in the movies is more stoic than his wrestling character, I keep waiting for him to cut a rap battle on someone. Stone Cold has done better at translating his wrestling character to the screen, at least from what I've seen. Or perhaps even Kevin Nash.
Have you seen peacemaker?Cena isn’t stoic at all.
@@frankf684 that's true, I was forgetting that. I was thinking of him in Fast & Furious and of course the smash hit The Marine.
Ya know how wrestling has "superstars" and pure wrestlers (some can be both, like Bret Hart) Well, The Rock is like that in Hollywood. He's a movie star, but not really an actor. His money is in his name and physique. He's not going to send audiences on emotional rides.
Black Adam ranked about for the Snyder DCU canceled.
He wasn't stoic in Jungle Cruise.
Ah, I didn’t see that.
HGH and tequila have degraded Rock's brain.
I've not seen the two Jumanji movies, but based on trailers and clips, the rock does not seem stoic in that role. There's several other comedy roles he's had as well. The through line in all of this is that he is not the sole star pushing the film, he's part of an ensemble or a dual lead cast. That's when he's best, IMO.
Both of those are good. Worth a watch
@@connormcclenny9681 Thanks! Maybe over the holidays. I've always been curious, because they do look funny, And I love how Kevin Hart plays off the rock and vice versa.
Another movie where the Rock plays himself. This was very boring cgi mess that most superhero movies are nowadays.
I had to watch Black Adam in 3 sittings , thats how boring it was.
Outside of Faster, there hasn’t been one really enjoyable Rock movie. He’s just a hype driver and then after the movie comes out he quietly distances himself.
The Rundown and Walking Tall were pretty good in my opinion. And those also showcased his natural charisma well. He does need a funny man next to him though.
@@gocsa I kind of forgot about those movies. The original walking tall and series were a hard act to follow/remake.
Watch the first 3 minutes and couldn't handle the massive expoo dump by that annoying kid.
Love this channel but this assessment is very hokey and filled with the typical DC bias that most reviewers have. The Black Adam film was great and The Rock played the character exactly how he is in the comics, he is stoic and violent. This is a high octane film and that is fine but even with that the overall story and nuanced things are really great, the movie is far smarter than given credit for. I am still amazed at those who suck up to James Gunn as if he is amazing, his GOTG movies were awful, especially the ending to the first with that stupid dance off and friendship ring garbage but somehow we are supposed to hate BA??? BA will only grow in popularity as more see it. If you know the characters and the story then they nailed it.
Did you see our Guardians Holiday review? Or our peacemaker reviews? I don’t like everything James Gunn does at all. As for bias, I’m not sure where you’re getting that, we’ve been shitting on Marvel basically non stop to the point of really turning people off, and we’ve mentioned several DC movies we’ve loved, like the Snyder Cut. I don’t think it’s hokey to dislike a movie that’s just pow pow pow bam bam bam. As for it being like the comics, we’ve talked about this - people insisted non-stop that she hulk is just like the comics, and that in no way addresses any of the criticisms.
