I left an expensive suit worn to my grandmother's funeral in my former BFF's house. The suit was brand new and had only been worn to the funeral. When I moved out, I accidently left it behind. Later, my former friend gave it to someone else my mistake. It ended up in that person's storage unit and took me a year to get it back. Never thought to sue for it but would have done so if it came to that. My point being, it can happen. Although in this case, I don't believe she had the shoes to begin with.
Then the suit wasn’t a priority to you, because you didn’t remember it or take it. Also, this situation is different, she had time. The rule is always take your things of highest priority with you. They go with you because if you can’t afford to lose them you make them a priority.

Never ceases to amaze and DISGUST me how some people are willing to destroy family relationships, which are among the most precious things we all have, over almost nothing. In this case, it was over a stupid pair of shoes that many women would not even wear even if someone were to giving them away.

Some people just get loud when they’re hurt or angry. In some cultures it’s perfectly normal and acceptable.
I knew someone who always spoke in a quiet and reasoned manner - nothing could shake this person into raising their voice, even a notch. Made them seem so mature and reasonable. This person turned out to be the biggest sociopathic liar I have encountered. The damage they have done to so many good people is astounding. Still can’t wrap my head around it.
So yeah, speaking loudly doesn’t always mean someone is lying. Often it can be the rage the other person is intentionally generating in them with their lying and gaslighting.

People always say “probation violation” like that answers the question, “why were you incarcerated?”
But those are 2 different questions. VOP is one charge and why they were most recently arrested. "Why were you on parole / probation (to begin with)", is different.

Would I live and leave my belongings with someone who has a history of drug dealings and goes off to jail? Absolutely not. The niece IMO knew of her aunt's sketchy past and continued to deal with her until the niece made herself a victim.
