Hi where do we get those hanging fixtires from, mine is an aqueon 75g standard tank. I want to have two fixtures to hold.

I know you can buy light hanging fixture separately from Kessil but the ones I have came with a light that I do not recommend you waste your money on.

Dr. Novak, I switched my old GE LED's in my DIY to this ultra bright and what a difference, I could not believe how much brighter these bulbs are and the color spectrum looks good

There are 4500 lux, within a short time I can already see my plants photosynthesizing by these lights.

@@anoxicfiltrationplenums I don't use CO2 on my 50 gal tank, I don't get very much pearling but everything seems to be growing fine

apologies if you have another video that covers the topic, haven't made it through all your content yet. enjoying the info so far.
would you recommend 2 of these as you have yours for a 55 gallon standard 48" wide or should i increase the number? i wouldn't have any problem doing up to 4, one set of two per 24" half but i think that might be overkill. i have a hard time with three because the support would cross over and likely cause shadowing if i centered it but i don't think that's as big a deal as i think. thanks in advance for any advice

I am shocked at dedicated aquarium light prices are was looking into cheaper alternatives. I was considering using floodlights but I’m worried if the light needs to be full spectrum for plants? I was looking into botanical grow lights but they are indeed to yellowish in colour. Would prefer something around the 5000-5500K kelvin range and I will be having high light plants and co2 so I was wondering if floodlights would work just fine? I my local store sells dimmable, colour temp controllable (3000K-6500K) smart 30W floodlights. I was thinking if I could use 2 of those at reduced power over a 20 gallon cube tank. Instead of splurging on a chihiros wrgb or AI Prime freshwater etc

What reason is it that blue has to go down with fresh? I _love_ the look of the blue light over a more "daylight" light. Is it for just the plants, or is there more to it? So long as they arent too bright, my blue-white lights look wonderful on my tank. I'd love to hear your thoughts, Thanks ♥

Blue light seems to promote algae more than red light in freshwater aquariums.

I tried to measure the flow rate of my plenum by capturing the bubbles with a measuring cup , it took 1minute 45s to replace 275ml of water with bubbles, after simple calculations my flow rate is just 2gallons per hour , which is far less than 20g you mentioned in other video , but I’m not sure if this a right way to get the flow rate ?

I just ordered an eight pack of the bulbs from Walmart for $40 bucks! We'll see if it's a price mistake or something. My hyggers are getting returned!

I bought a pair of these GE Ultra Brights from Lowes based on your review. As the temperatures drop, I want to keep the foam panel lid to prevent heat loss. I'll cut a hole for the tip of the bulb to remove the need for a cowl. That should allow for better heat dissipation for the lighting elements and fully direct the light energy into the tank.

I've been using the lights in the cans that I show and really it seems to have no heat buildup. The ones that are over the goldfish aquarium are on from 11 o'clock to 10 o'clock at night and still everything is manageable without a problem.

@@anoxicfiltrationplenums I installed a single bulb directly into the foam insulation board by cutting a circle with same diameter as the bulb and inserting it a little past the collar of the stock diffuser. I kept the stock diffuser on the bulb since it is only 2" above the water surface. Thankfully, the heat dissipating from the bulb housing drives off any condensation forming around the gaps between the bulb and board. With 60F ambient temps, the bulb housing is uncomfortably warm but definitely not as hot as I expected. I'll report back in a few weeks with a status update.

Good evening Dr Novak ! I’ve successfully set up my plenum with 4 inches of substrate , today is the 5th day of setup , I checked the nitrate it’s still climbing as usual , how long does it takes to see the result in nitrate reduction ? Thanks Dr

Nice work! It will take time for the bacteria to establish itself and find a food source.

In an aquarium with Nano fish you should see results within 3 to 4 months I did, and with large fish like goldfish I saw results within 6months. its just playing the waiting game but it gets better as time goes on :) while your waiting for the plenum to kick in, to limit some nitrate you could add a API nitra zorb these really do work. this was my go to before I even heard of plenums. You recharge them with aquarium salt which removes the organic matter it has removed.

I use one of the small metal shop lights above my aquariums. It lights up the whole tank. $7.99 each. Use the bulb of your choice in them

I just thought the lights that I use are more industrial looking without being silver and would appeal to the hobbiest. But of course you can get the lights from Hardware Store. thanks for the info.
