Not trying to sound too knowledgeable, but I have listened to ameen sayani program a lot and the stories on songs and singers. Singers never had just one or two chances and sometimes more than 100 takes were required. There was a song in mehbooba, mere naina sawan bhado., Kishore ji just couldn't get it right for some reason. He asked music director for a break and practised several days with recording of lata ji female version of song. He got it correct after too much practise and takes. Mukesh ji required more takes than kishore or rafi, this irritated sd burman, and he never recorded with him, unless insisted by film makers to have mukesh only.
After recording was over the people who were listening to the finished product in the studio must have realized that they had a real gem on their hands and created history at the same time...
nowadays there is no need of a great singer in bollywood they just need an average voice who can act well as a singer ... & indians love those singing actors too 🤞
