dude everyone using autotune and it's not a bad thing.. it's like adding reverb and delay.. nothing wrong.. only thing wrong is the amount of use.. even the foreign artists and bands are using it.. back in time classical opera singers and hindustani singers were using such studio or halls to get echo sound for delay and reverb effects.. it's just shapes the song.. if we listen to classical music then the technic was great but the audio quality was poor..

This video shows why Kishore Kumar ji or Lata Mangeshkar ji are legends. They used to start singing from the very beginning if anything went wrong. Today, the singers don't have to do that. Singing an entire song repeatedly until it's perfect, is definitely not something easy. Because the singer pours the soul into a song while singing. If anything goes wrong, starting from the very beginning and singing the entire song with equal perfection is very difficult. Each and every time, the song doesn't turn out to be the same. Each time, there will be some changes and singing the entire song with utmost perfection is really really very difficult.

4:07 Lata ji once take retake and the whole pack musicians had to restart. That was the responsibility on the singers back then. But at 4:55 when she restarted, it was magical. Today's singers are nothing in front of the legends like Lata ji, Rafi ji, Kishore da.

Due to the reason of advancements in technology we hear better songs and things are muchore achievable. For example without sound mixingany of AR Rehmans songs like Kun faya kun would have not been possible. Singers like AR Rehman and Javed Ali too record the song in multiple sessions, mix it , layer it. Even though in her times she had used her voice so much as there were no cut-singing so kitni baar ek he gaana baar baar gana padta hoga and yet it's still fresh and ready to make everyone fall in her divinity. Like she literally sang for 7 Whole decades!! Sang for 4 generation's heroines + in 36 Indian languages!! And not forgetting she have even mastered 14 Hindustani classical music. The old method had many advantages. Live recording meant to be in sync with musicians playing music simultaneously. Now a singer sings in isolation and instrumental music is added subsequently to decorate a song. Then, prelude, interlude music was composed as the integral part of the composition and with session with key musicians who would add value to the song with their own contribution and suggestions. That is the reason we remember old songs with prelude and interlude pieces. Now these are just additions. Do these pieces merge with the singing, do they add any value the composition and does anybody remember them? In old days, a music director would ask these musicians to improvise and make suitable changes if necessary to make this part truly memorable. I don't know how this is done now. Contra music is gone. I am afraid it is only cut and paste music. A singer doesn't know what would be the final shape of the song being sung by him/her. Yes, he or she can improvise and perfect the rendition instantaneously to the satisfaction of the music director and repeat till this is done. But what about spontaneous nature of the performance? This would have come only in live recording with full orchestra.
You forgot to talk about autotune...this thing kills the originality of songs... and there're many singers who are less skilled but they are able to retain their position in music industry just bcoz of autotune

First of all thanks for compiling different song making videos in one. Fact 1) Making videos are never actual recording sessions. As no one is allowed in recording section while singer is singing. And no distractions of camera or whatever. So what everybody does is, they mime the words later on tye song for video, as if it was live recording. Fact 2) Olden days had live musician and singer recording at the same time, coz the recording technique had only 4 tracks. Which later developed into 8track DAT tape machine(90's). So everybody had to sing live with musicians so every one had to be perfect else a retake was done, which used to be a basic requirement to be studio artist. It used to be frustrating for others to play again and again if one makes mistake, so all used to practice alot. Thus, so many 'rehearsals' were done before actual recording. Fact 3) Present day situation has changed majorly due to recording abilities. Now rehearsals are not done with musicians. As there is a facility of recording tracks separately. Saves lot of money and time of many artists. If this technique was there in old days, I am sure all these singers would have chosen the same. Fact 4) AutoTune is not applied by singers. It is sound engineer's/Music Composer's/Music Producer's choice. To make it a clean perfect recording. For a singer it is mandatory to sing in tune, but to make it easy after the recording if one realises there is slight off tune then Autotune used to be used. Later autotuned-machine like sound became part of some music genre styles. Listen some Bhojpuri songs for that exaggerated use which later became a style and a tone for folk. Fact 4) Many singers of recent times have had autotune not because they were very off tune but for making singing track perfect. There are many singers who do sing off tune in live shows, we all know that. So many singers imitate singing in live shows with prerecorded tracks. Fact 5) Just like many cover singers on youtube make track separately and video separately. And never show actual recording abilities. Fact 6) A professional singer uses minimum amount of time to learn tune and record the whole song which saves time/money. Many new singers with good voice lack that so it forces engineer to use AutoTune. But autotune can not manipulate Expressions. Fact 7) Recording of past singers have been 90% good but there are few tracks where they have sung off tune here and there. But it is unnoticed by general listener. Recent times we see people clapping for off tuned singers on Reality shows is evident to show how much Sur general listener hears. Coz being KaanSen also takes riyaz and efforts. Last Fact 8) All the notes you hear today are in Western equitempered tuning and not Indian Shruti. So anybody singing for films dont really sing in Indian Tuning Shruti. You get to hear these shruti in Classical Music only. All singers of past era were off tune for classical singers. The film music adapted Western tuning which was big issue back then and all singers and film music was subjected to same topic as now. Conclusion- Era, Genre and Technology did make singers of films adapt to time. Real in-tuned singers are available with classical music talent but barely people appreciate them compared to film singers. So its better for listeners to get educated with good music forms, genres and talents. And then have a wide variety of listening and liking.🙏🎶✨💫 P.S. - Sorry this comment became a long letter but I had to shed light on some points.

The old method had many advantages. Live recording meant to be in sync with musicians playing music simultaneously. Now a singer sings in isolation and instrumental music is added subsequently to decorate a song. Then, prelude, interlude music was composed as the integral part of the composition and with session with key musicians who would add value to the song with their own contribution and suggestions. That is the reason we remember old songs with prelude and interlude pieces. Now these are just additions. Do these pieces merge with the singing, do they add any value the composition and does anybody remember them? In old days, a music director would ask these musicians to improvise and make suitable changes if necessary to make this part truly memorable. I don't know how this is done now. Contra music is gone. I am afraid it is only cut and paste music. A singer doesn't know what would be the final shape of the song being sung by him/her. Yes, he or she can improvise and perfect the rendition instantaneously to the satisfaction of the music director and repeat till this is done. But what about spontaneous nature of the performance? This would have come only in live recording with full orchestra.

If God gifted someone only 10% of Lata Ji 's singing skill , he would be the king of today's music industry
First of all thanks for compiling different song making videos in one.
Fact 1) Making videos are never actual recording sessions. As no one is allowed in recording section while singer is singing. And no distractions of camera or whatever. So what everybody does is, they mime the words later on tye song for video, as if it was live recording.
Fact 2) Olden days had live musician and singer recording at the same time, coz the recording technique had only 4 tracks. Which later developed into 8track DAT tape machine(90's). So everybody had to sing live with musicians so every one had to be perfect else a retake was done, which used to be a basic requirement to be studio artist. It used to be frustrating for others to play again and again if one makes mistake, so all used to practice alot. Thus, so many 'rehearsals' were done before actual recording.
Fact 3) Present day situation has changed majorly due to recording abilities. Now rehearsals are not done with musicians. As there is a facility of recording tracks separately. Saves lot of money and time of many artists. If this technique was there in old days, I am sure all these singers would have chosen the same.
Fact 4) AutoTune is not applied by singers. It is sound engineer's/Music Composer's/Music Producer's choice. To make it a clean perfect recording. For a singer it is mandatory to sing in tune, but to make it easy after the recording if one realises there is slight off tune then Autotune used to be used. Later autotuned-machine like sound became part of some music genre styles. Listen some Bhojpuri songs for that exaggerated use which later became a style and a tone for folk.
Fact 4) Many singers of recent times have had autotune not because they were very off tune but for making singing track perfect. There are many singers who do sing off tune in live shows, we all know that. So many singers imitate singing in live shows with prerecorded tracks.
Fact 5) Just like many cover singers on youtube make track separately and video separately. And never show actual recording abilities.
Fact 6) A professional singer uses minimum amount of time to learn tune and record the whole song which saves time/money. Many new singers with good voice lack that so it forces engineer to use AutoTune. But autotune can not manipulate Expressions.
Fact 7) Recording of past singers have been 90% good but there are few tracks where they have sung off tune here and there. But it is unnoticed by general listener. Recent times we see people clapping for off tuned singers on Reality shows is evident to show how much Sur general listener hears. Coz being KaanSen also takes riyaz and efforts.

Fact 8) All the notes you hear today are in Western equitempered tuning and not Indian Shruti. So anybody singing for films dont really sing in Indian Tuning Shruti. You get to hear these shruti in Classical Music only. All singers of past era were off tune for classical singers. The film music adapted Western tuning which was big issue back then and all singers and film music was subjected to same topic as now.
Conclusion- Era, Genre and Technology did make singers of films adapt to time. Real in-tuned singers are available with classical music talent but barely people appreciate them compared to film singers. So its better for listeners to get educated with good music forms, genres and talents. And then have a wide variety of listening and liking.🙏🎶✨💫
