Got this corn out of a dumpster behind the farmers market and turned it into moonshine. The mash was a mix between silver queen, and bi color sweet corn. Shucking corn is a lot of work but the moonshine from it is well worth it.

From the dumpster to table...😅.. were I come from, we don't waste fuck all either! If it can be used.. YA USE IT!.. if its edible and can be eaten... YA EAT IT! ..there's to many people in the world that don't know what it feels like to be hungry and have nothin... Throwing out 100lbs of corn is just plain wasteful and stupid... Than again... If you are uneducated on what can be done with this stuff.. than I guess it would be garbage to someone... But all it takes is doing a Google's search to see what can be made/used for... Just comes down to lazyness lol . I'm really glad that you found this and were able to turn it into something special... Bless you and your family sir..❤🎉
I know it's not related to this but I have 5 of your recipes of wine fermenting as we speak. Apple, Peach, Pineapple, Pink Cotton Candy and Blue Cotton Candy. I'm going to get the hard apple cider started soon, so it's ready for October. Thanks Phil. Party on! 🎉
Phil, have you ever done a run with a 50lb bag of Producer's Pride Sweet Cob Feed from Tractor Supply? There's no pellets in it, just rolled corn, barley, oats and molasses.
Great video Phil! I've done this same thing. I have couple buddies that use daddy, and few of us bread yeast. I found that the guys that use daddy regularly, like it better. And same for us bread yeast guys lol.
I've used daddy and it's good yeast, not a thing wrong with it. I prefer bread yeast for myself tho. If you use it with wheat it brings a fruity flavor out.
Use it with peaches, wheat and Lil barley malt and those nutty fruit flavors really shine!
Best video I've seen in ages, Shine On Phil!!
PhilBilly is back! Awesome corn shine man
Love all you stuff. Im hoping to start shining next year. Cant wait
I always use bread yeast now bin using it for a yr now I like it
Can’t wait for the part 2 ☺️👍
I'd love to see the results if you did the same yeast exp., but do an all grain and a sugar shine comparison as well. Then put those in barrels and test over time. That would be delicious
Good comment!
I like bread yeast. Especially in a rum
Corn liquor tastes sweeter in this town
Could it be it's the same as the last?
I swear I've seen ya face elsewhere before
Just as familiar as a bottle and a glass.
You reminded me of those lyrics from the amazing Colter Wall.
I’ll be glad to help with the blind test! 😂
Hell dude... let me be a part of your taste test. I'm a connoisseur of sippin whisky.
I like to take my suger and cook it to 350°f till it's a nice caramel.... Let it cool and crack it up into small pieces and add it to the corn mash... It's amazing how much it changes the flavour of the shine in the end... You wouldn't think it would be so noticeable... But I'll tell ya... If you don't smell cotton candy on the front and taste it on the back . ILL BE DAMNED! That's a technique my life long friends great grandmother passed down the line because that's how her grandfather did it... It tastes like candy corn... Before there was candy corn...😅❤
While fermenting ??
@@Flametamer145 you have to dissolve it into your wash.. this will up the alc Aswell.. but make sure it's all dissolved or you could kill your fermentation.... I also throw a few chunks of that candy in wile I'm doing my run Aswell...😋
You'll pull more flavor from the bread yeast.
You'll get a higher proof/more product from the day because of the alcohol tolerance 💪🍻
Send me some handshakes mark them so you know but I won’t. I’ll record trying them. 😂
That's a lot of prep work. I don't like bread yeast. Dady rocks.
def make a video about thatcob jelly!
I tried both I prefer daddy yeast with corn liquor
How much lead solder is too much for a 10 gallon still pot? How can I tell if it’s not a lead solder or if it is? I have had this old still for 40 years and no bad experiences but I don’t cook much in a 5 year period. I’m out of the good aged stuff and I just want to make another run. The still was left to me by an old friend who is dead but not from the hooch!
purchase a lead test kit
awesome
No need to cook or try to convert fresh corn. It hasn’t gone to starch yet. Blend it and pitch yeast
How far did you run proof down to??
At 11:25 states, "A normal person would not pick it up".
So, it would have to be a non-normal person to be able to 'pick it up' ??
At 1:46. it was (correctly) alpha amylase you added not glucoamylase
bro...can I buy a jar?
What are "liquor chickens"???
proofing parrot.
Why did you put sugar! I have been waiting on you to do this fresh corn. Now you have gone and ruined it(joking)your favorite federali!?😮
Like dady. Red star has too much sulphates.
👍🇺🇸
what in the fuque is a 'liquor chicken' ?
google cant tell me....
buckaw!
It is the way I picture a homeless person with an entrepreneurial mindset starting a business literally from nothing. Now all the other bums are picking bottles and giving him the loot .
🤣🤣👍
You know I’ve bought I can’t count how many ears of corn and I’ve never seen anybody, store, person, throw away Cor on the cob that’s nothing thing is wrong with. I have to believe you bought this somewhere.
