The Valkyries couldn't draft Caitlin Clark because each team was allowed to keep six players away from the expansion draft which gave the Valkyries six more good players to pick from. Pay attention to what's going on and you won't need to put this type of BS on UA-cam
The league is losing money, but I think others are making money. You are correct, how can they expand if they are losing money? Wouldn't they just lose more money? Here is my thought on this. The NBA owns 60% of the WNBA, and takes 40% of its revenue. Investors take another roughly 20% of its revenue. So the WNBA is operating on 40% of its revenue and losing money. In 2024, revenue was projected to be roughly $200 million and they were going to lose an estimated $50 million. So if the NBA is taking 40% of revenue, they would have taken around $80 million. We also know that the NBA is covering for the losses, so if they will cover for the estimated $50 million loss, that still leaves them with $30 million dollars. Yes, the WNBA is losing money, but the NBA and other investors are still benefiting. The additional expenses taken on this year by the WNBA, resulting in their widened loss would have had to be approved by the NBA. If the NBA was losing a ton of money on the WNBA, I doubt they would have approved eating another $40 million in losses. Same thing with the media. I've seen all sorts of comments that nobody watches the WNBA. The media deal in place right now pays the WNBA $60 million per year. The new media deal they negotiated at the beginning of the 2024 season ups the ante quite a bit and will pay an estimated $200 million annually, effective with the 2026 season. If the media wasn't also making money on the WNBA, why in the heck would they agree to triple the amount they pay them? They aren't in this to lose money and I would bet they have increased advertising dollars quite a bit, especially with the marked increase in viewership in 2024 largely centered around Caitlin Clark. Even before Caitlin Clark, tv viewership had been gaining over the last couple of years above the pre-pandemic numbers. Of course, the books for the NBA or WNBA isn't public information, so all we can do is guess based on the information that has been published. My aha moment was when the Post published that article earlier in the year about the WNBA losing money and they noted how much of the REVENUE the NBA takes. I thought ... well, that would explain why 1) the WNBA has never turned a profit despite having a media deal that all by itself would easily cover player payroll (around $20 million), and 2) why the NBA would continue to cover for WNBA losses year in and year out.
Wasn’t Clark protected from being drafted. We were told that the already established teams could lock four members that could not be drafted. You people can’t have it both ways
Stephanie White kinda locked Clark in with the team and she’ll sells tickets. They need to keep Boston, Hull, Mitchell, and Clark together. Clark is very good at working as a team. If she sees somebody else open she has no trouble feeding the ball to someone else
Duh can you say protected! Why they didn't start with this instead of mentioning it at 5 minutes in then still wondering why they wouldn't want CC she was protected period
Imagine drafting a fantasy team out the gate. We’ll take your best player and your best player and your best player.. etc. etc. An all star team straight to the championship.
This is idiotic. Each team has 6 protected players and Clark was always going to be one of those. This is why women shouldn't be sports analysts, it just doesn't make any sense.
Odin's 12 handmaidens? Allowed to usher the soul of their choice of the slain warriors back home? Oooo, certainly this team knows the meaning of their team's name...
Lol, teams get to protect their players in the expansion draft. Could you imagine if there was no player protection in an expansion draft? That expansion team would just pick up every star player on each team and win the champion title for the next ten years. That's like an NBA expansion team being able to select Lebron, Curry, Anthony Davis, Giannias (sp) etc...lol, funniest video Ive seen today. Thanks for the laugh
The Fever would have to be the dumbest team ever to not protect Caitlin Clark. She is their key piece to build a championship team around. This video is lost in the weeds because the Fever did protect Clark. Why keep talking about something that could not happen?
What the hell is this even? She’s not going to an expansion team. She’s protected. This is absolute moronic.
Each team gets to protect, shield players from the expansion draft! Clark as with each teams top stars were protected !
If Caitlin Clark was protected, duhh, she was untouchable.
The Valkyries were damn lucky to get Fagbenle and Kate Martin you got a point guard and a shooter/center
That's a great start!

CC WAS PROTECTED !!! SHE WILL NEVER LEAVE FEVER.
Caitlin is protected by the Fever from the expansion draft. She and most all of team could not be drafted.
They couldn't draft her she was pro
Question. If the league isn't making money how is expanding possible?

CC was protected by her rookie status

Every team faces this problem, who to protect and who not to protect.
Why would the new expansion team even want caitlin she was already protected by the fever
ISN'T SHE PROTECTED ?

Before commenting, learn what is actually the fact. That way you will actually know what you are talking about instead of pretending to know something
