- When software engineer Gautier Coiffard told his mother he was quitting his job to open a bakery in Brooklyn, New York, she said, “That’s the last thing we need ... another baker from France.” The bakery, L’Appartement 4F, opened its storefront in May, immediately turned a monthly profit and now brings in up to $128,000 per month in revenue. One my favourite restaurant's in London is run by a former engineer too. They are very detail orientated and think about the processes of making products & making consistent quality. A perfect outlook for a food service business.
Very nice and exquisite products. I quit my job in Finance for the love of baking. Cheers.
Nice work.
Please i’m live in USA and i wanna to make croissants in my houme but i don’t now good butter for making croissant , can you show me please best butter pastry in USA ,
“Brings in” says nothing about how much profit is being made. $128k sounds good but what are the expenses?
It says "up to" that means it is their biggest monthly profit and that means averagely they earn less
@@noorclean2915 the point is that there’s a difference between “revenue” & “profit”. It makes people dumb to not differentiate between the two as most Americans think in job income terms (AKA personal profit) rather than gross revenue. Did you assume they had up to a $128k profit every month? That means an average profit of $2.84 per item at 1500 items sold daily (30day month). Now review the video.
@@ttopero I’m pretty sure the expenses aren’t going to be more than 20,000 to 30,000 a month. There is no reason it should cost that much to run a business per month when they are only selling coffee and bread.
They published a long format of these two guys. They broke down the numbers and it was about 40k profit on their higher month. Not too shabby
@@dolioff shii, I wanna know what there average gross revenue monthly is now. And what expenses is eating up a majority of their income
You know what’s funny? I’m a CS major, and my dream is to fully fund my own Bakery business once I graduate and make enough revenue. People always say to have hobbies on the side for STEM majors but get uncomfortable when they actually do 😭😭😭😭
Sheesh. Rough crowd nowadays...
People are stressed and it makes them quite bitter… especially UA-cam comments.
Petty jealousy is at an all time high out here🙄🤦🏾♀️
@@amatulfulani6390 Exactly. They might wanna steer clear of finance channels like this then...
@@lyricistanonymous8126 Correct. That's why dreams are best held close to the chest for protection.
What’s funny is that you can clearly tell that they did not became bakers, they « opened » a bakery. That’s a smart move, he probably bring on the knowledge on how a French pastry should look like and he is the brand but you don’t become a baker in a day, it might be even more hardworking than certain engineering jobs (physically and regarding the hours you have to put in)
What's the net profit on that revenue though? And how early do they have to wake up every morning?
3 am max if the croissants are real
They did not say they became bakers… they said they « opened » a bakery. He is just the French face let’s say the brand I guess as the whole point I am sure was to make more money working less hours and less hard as well as doing something more enjoyable
The point the engineering job afforded him the bank roll to go into his heart's Passion... people always overlook that part of the story
not really. many engineering jobs now pay little. I haven't accumulated more than what my friends do in other industries.
@@tidus7081 I'm a former sous chef at a high end, fancy place and have moved into engineering to someday fund opening a restaurant. Soo I don't really know where you're coming from or what you understand about finances but engineering absolutely still pays
one sided view lol. . you're a chef from a 'high end, fancy place' but pays little. The same can happen for engineering. get a little wiser :)@@joeybible683
Making dough while making dough!
I wonder what they pay on rent and other business expenses
Typically costs account for 91-96% of gross rev
According to a google search
That looks delicious! 🤤
This is just so delightful and inspiring! Love seeing people live their dreams and be so successful, yet grounded. ❤
Love it! Congratulations. I wish you had one in Texas. ❤

This bakery is located in downtown Brooklyn. Visited to try a croissant. I bought a chocolate croissant and the price was higher than other bakeries or coffee shops. Nothing special about this chocolate croissant. It’s just the social media makes good advertising and that’s all. In NY has much better places for lower prices.
Croissants sind österreichische
😂😅 She can't pronounce her own married name sheesh
Smart move. Multi talented. Congratulations.
Nice.
I am in love. . Thank you for following your dreams
Where in NYC. Gotta have this
I love ❤️ this ! Wow the food looks delicious 😋
“want to make sure everything we do is sustainable” but the camera is shooting take-out coffee cups….. Greenwashing? or people don’t know the definition of sustainable?
Just a bunch of pansy leftists trying to pander.
I bet Lauren if they saw your place she will be there 24/7 😂
Where exactly is your bakery located in NYC? Thx
A 128k is nice, I hope they're getting some bread out of this.
Fabulous! 🤗♥️
Everything looks delicious!😋
All the best. Don't let 'the sharks' in.
No room for organic in that space
Slowly and organically that's amazing

People asking where it’s located after he gives the name of the place.
Google is your friend.
He says it too fast
@@ladyofspa none sense. I understood him.
Honhonhon !!!
Who cares
Rude😤😤😤
You do, enough to watch the video and comment.
Yeah nice story but you'd think an even better story would be a person with nothing in his account, A minority, no great resume for banks to fawn over and they become a success in their field.
Sorry but white male/ female with engineering background being pastry chef isn't that new or unique. What held him back? Money? background? Finances?
lmao why are you acting so jealous? 🤣🤣🤣
@@herlock1400 only a privileged rich kid would say what you said. Lols 😆 just learn to read between the lines kiddo
