So since I am using bow and spear for pvp (300 dex and 150) con and I am using spear and hatchet for pve. Will it be optimal to use 300 dex and 200 con for spear and hatchet as well?
I feel like they should simply add off hand itemization and skill trees. Only to better flesh out the Sword, since the "Shield" abilities would be moved over to the shield specialization tree. But also allow for an off hand dagger, a parrying blade, a sword breaker, buckler, and a mace to make duel wield more than just equipping two identical weapons. But also so that non-shield using builds could benefit from having stats in that slot. It would also open up more "tank" builds for people who might be a hatchet user or spear user, so they can tank as well without pushing you into only a sword tank. Letting people level the weapons they like.
@@Spartucus101 Yes it would be great if you could wear hatchet and shield for example, and have different tanking skills than those of the sword and shield, and it'd be cool to have a non tank shield tree too. Also, a mace based on bleeding and stagger its been missing from the game as a one hand weapon.
As usual, another great video!! Thanks for helping us newer guys out, its content creators like you that help me keep playing when things can get confusing, keep it up :)
Nice video Parfax, I'm a returning player and this was a nice refresher coarse. Keep pumping the guides out, they be needed with the upcoming dlc/patch. Can't wait to use the Greatsword
Also looking forward to the pve guide, as a returning player I’ve been just upping my craft skills and making money but haven’t rly gotten into the nitty gritty yet so this should be rly helpful.
Bruh thank god, I’ve been running rapier and bow, bow mainly just for utility while I run around (only level 27) but I freaking hate rapier. Idk why but it just feels so terrible to me but my company was telling me it was good so I just went with it. Before I left I was a warhammer main, but I was always curious about the spear so I’m glad someone reputable has given me a reason to finally use it now that I’m returning. Thanks for the vid, I’m still obviously too low level to use your full guide but still I’m glad I found something concrete and useful to start building on!
Rapier is actually one of the highest DPS PvE weapons due to flurry spam, and now that they buffed omnidirectional and the finisher ability (forgot what it's called). Rapier is more of skill based weapon for PvE, where as Hatchet is noob friendly. Rapier is also AMAZING for healers, VG is preferably better on a tank offhand or DPS offhand allowing the healer to have good mobility instead of running in a dropping oblivion on the team and running out. And yes VG on tank is insane, this will allow you to not rely on the healer to drop oblivion on you, you'll be able to debuff all the nearby enemies with nullifying oblivion, and if you have melee dps team members, this will give them empower as well...you can have one DPS run a hammer for the sundering shockwave..but even then you won't need it if at least two DPS have spear spamming perforate.
I'm digging Skewer on the spear. 44% damage reduction for 8s is huge and if you have the Deep Ring slotted it is 10s. It's not DPS but you aren't getting whacked. Torrent on the hatchet with a refresh or two on the armor gives practically non stop Berserk. Same for Skewer as it's cd is only 14s to begin with. I think a weapon perk on the weapon is a must have above keen or vicious. Bane then weapon perk then w/e. Some of the weapon perks on the weapons do more damage than Bain. No cd with Bain though.
honestly, perforate and vault kick are useless on a spear. You should run Jav, Skewer, and Sweep. Sweep for a small amout of CC + knockdown (+ bleed if you use the perk), Skewer for good bleed (+ up to an insane 43% weaken debuff with perk), then Javelin for knock down (+ rend with perk). If you time your dodges between each ability it almost perfectly lines up for a rotation. With hatchet im still unsure what to run but I like using it ranged with rending throw (+ perk for around 25% damage boost to ranged), social distancing for backwards jump + root for 1 or 2 extra ranged hits. You can throw a hatchet and instantly use an ability for a quick double hit, very satisfying to double hit with social distancing. And third ability is berserk which can be used for good CC or for small heals while rotating the spear (latter is good for single targets since hatchet thrives while surrounded with many enemies not just 1 single target). Side notes, rending throw and rend applied from Javelin perk stack for extra damage, really helps for getting well over 2k damage per ranged hatchets in a perfect debuff stack.
perferate gives a stager more rend and fortify so no way I would give it up for jav. Then when it comes to sweep I use sweep with i a lot of spots but vault kick is an interrupt on bossed and mobs with grit where sweep is useless against them
Another great video Parfax. Thanks! If anyone hasn't checked out his other videos I suggest you check them out. He is spot on with his take on New World. MUST WATCH videos are on the Great Sword coming out with Brimstone Sands. You will need to know this prior to launch.
If only we had in game dps meters or how tower of fantasy has damage done during dungeons would be amazing! Love having a dps meter I can at least train on like lost ark had. Even that would be nice to have for personal use to maximize a dps build. Outside of not having any one you could do little to no damage in dungeons and no one would really know.. as long as your swinging and stuff dies and no wipes no one even knows lol
@@ParfaxGaming yeah people don’t want them in runs because then it actually shows them lacking or not doing enough and causes a toxic issue. Yet at the same time the biggest mmos have them through add ons and millions of players use them. More by far use them then players who don’t. Putting one in as a training tool though like lost ark did I think solves that issue. It’s not 100% accurate because it’s on stationary target your not factoring moving avoidance etc. that will lower dps . But it gives you a place where you can be like ok if I do this rotation for x amount of time I can see which one would give me maximum damage output compare to not having it at all.
your sleeping on refreshing crits on the throwing side of the hatchet tree. In PVP regaining stamina per crit on a high crit weapon like hatchet makes a huge difference being able to solo hard bosses by spamming rolls
Love the videos. I am have trouble finding a build that I am comfortable with. I only play pve. I like the thought of musket or bow. I cant seem to find any pve builds for either. Is musket even viable for pve? Attributes and skills for both would be great I can figure out the gear. Thanks so much and keep up the great work.
(1800 hour + musket main here) Musket is viable in pve, but only for specific dungeons. Corrupted (because thrust weakness) dungeons only, up to around M9. Grenade, Burning shot, Empowering shooting stance. Throw grenade on CD for big AOE. Switch to bow or spear while all musket abilities on CD. Just be careful not to plant yourself too much and move around. Mutations like to punish stand still players. Musket perks would be Enchanted, keenly empowered … and whatever else.. corrupted bane.
Bow would be Arrow Rain, pen shot, poison shot. Explosive arrow could work in replacement to poison. Pair with spear: Vault Kick, Leg Sweep, Perforate. Always make sure you’re stacking perforate rend on every target for your team.
@@BrienAhern replace vault with sundering javelin tbh, this way at range with the bow you can rend from range and not risk getting hit since you can't animation cancel. You'll still use perforate but only when you know you can
I just use spear when using the skills so if I need to rend I will swap and rend then skewer. I only use Vault kick on bosses or mobs I need to interrupt
Hi, hammer is not better than spear in pve (dungeon) ? Coz i see 200-300% weapon dmg hammer versus 75-80% with spear. (I play hammer/GA on release and i always feel is more powerfull than hatchet or any weapon but now i take a fresh start and i test something else)
@@ParfaxGaming ah ok, it's about the weapons ;) i mean you can play whatever you want until like M5 in any dungeon but at least from M8 on i would prefer ward gear for any single dungeon, it makes it a lot easier to live
no, this is not the best build. The best build for any pvp period (including expeditions) is a great axe with trenchant recovery (1500 heal a swing). Do this test, take your build to one of the lvl 63 mobs forts in shattered. Run all the way to the back in from the front pulling all mobs (10-15). See which one is better. This build self heals any M10 expedition you go in.
@@ParfaxGaming Its still the best overall PvE setup there is, it may not be the "highest DPS". But... is it really when you are cleaving 4-5 mobs at a time for 3K hp each? Are you doing that with the spear and hatchet? I sure as heck have a lot of DPS when I pull 15 lvl 63 mobs and taking them on at one time as a large group. I dunno, 3K damage x 10 critters every swing is pretty goof dps. Your build does just fine with 1 on 1 mobs... but thats about it.
@@vidgameboy2084 funny enough, you need a great axe to group them dont ya... But, comparing the hit box and gropability of a GA to a spear/hatchet is pretty silly. So for attributes for non corrupted dungeon I would start with 300 str and 200 con then continue to put points into dex as you learn the dungeons
