I saw your name on that refrigerator in the gully. Finally got around to looking you up.
This was an entertaining video haha.
Eagle rock Loop is an amazing trail and always a kick in the ass. I always feel it for a few days after that hike.
The water convenience is as good as it gets in any american trail. But I still bring two 1-liter bottles in addition to the filter. Great to be able to do all the camp stuff without going back to the stream 10 times.
Definitely get your pack under 30lbs. 17-25 is preferable. Lose the massage gun lmao.
I highly recommend crocs for this hike due to the river crossings. You don’t want to get your shoes or socks wet, so just go sockless crocs for the big river crossings (these change drastically based on recent rains). The crocs almost weigh nothing and they make great shoes around the camp.
I have given up trail mix recently in favor of a big breakfast and a big dinner. I recommend the Mountainhouse freeze dried meals.

I saw your tag on the refrigerator. Looks like I was about 2 weeks behind you. Nice video!

I’m hoping this will be my next trip. Pretty hot right now so i may wait until this fall. Check out Buckeye Candy creek loop for a solo trip. Only 10 miles so you can gets some camping in and relax. I know all about too heavy a pack. It won’t happen again.

Yes your pack weight is way to heavy. My pack weight for ERL with food and water is like 15 lbs

Yikes. Watch some thru hiker gear load out videos to see what the people who have done hundreds of miles on trails have used. Then when you have lighter gear, take it out on some day hikes or front country camp trips (like a state park) to practice using it before going to a remote backcountry trail. You will be more comfortable and safer on the trail with good gear that is lighter weight and that you are more comfortable using (because you have practiced using it when your life doesn't depend on it).
Also, look into freeze dried backpacking meals. They have high calories with less weight. And most of them aren't terrible. Haha.
