Say that again, because this needs to be understood. FloJo had the best technique of men AND women…everyone should be striving to completely dissect everything about what FloJo did, and I pray her coach leaves some type of knowledge on what he did to get her there before he passes away. FloJo tried to explain all the contradictions in what he taught her in 1987, and she said it thoroughly confused her until she saw the results. He’s had some of the biggest champions in the game, and I think he never taught everyone EVERYTHING he taught her, is because he’s honoring her legacy. But, in reality, he’s gotta be the most genius coach in sprint history.

FloJo's technique probably has to be considered the best because of the dramatic results it had once she adjusted it.
When Al Joyner became her only coach she started to look stronger through her core with maybe even a slight forward lean & a more pronounced stride, almost like a long jumper.
She definitely looked stronger over the final 20 meters than before. They said at the time he was working her lower body strength & if I had to guess Id say there was a fair bit of additional plyometrics & core strengthening involved.

FloJo was slim and trim on the top. Due to her muscular physique, she didn't have to carry that much weight while sprinting. With her doing two thousand sit-ups a day definitely did the trick, as it takes hard work to make it to the top.

I agree that Flo Jo is #1, but #2 IMO is Carmelita Jeter.
Jeter is the female sprinter who runs “most like” a male sprinter, in the sense of being able to keep the pelvis neutral and centered under her, instead of having her hips anteriorly rotate (like Fraser-Pryce) and “fall out the back”.
Possibly due to a lack of glute/hamstring strength, many women have great difficulty preventing their lower back from arching. Keeping a flat back and neutral pelvis, however, aides in allowing more time for the leg cycle to be spent on the front side (“front-side mechanics”), and helps to limit time spent on the back side.

Some of these runners may have impressive techniques but came along when PEDs were widely used so their forms may not have been great if they were on a level playing field. But, for the sake of this video, it was very interesting to compare the running techniques. For runners that have been able to alter their natural style/technique into something better, hats off to them because that is much easier said than done. It takes a huge amount of hard work and discipline.

I agree Flo-Jo at #1 and ETH at 2 but she has not been the same since changing coaches. But I will say this...we are currently in a new golden era for womens track which is loaded with amazing young talent distributed all over the world hitting or breaking times not seen in decades. SAFP changed her technique to run more relaxed vs straining as much as she used to and she is running her best times even as she is past the normal prime age for sprinters. I forget the interview where both her and ETH talk about running relaxed....sounded a lot like Flo-Jo in interviews from the 1980s. Flo-Jo or more accurately her college coach at the time the legendary Bobby K was way ahead of his time with the idea to run relaxed at high speed which she struggled with at first as it is counter intuitive to run relaxed when someone is telling you to run as fast as you can. Flo-Jo was always a pretty runner but went to another level because of her college coach Bobby K who guided her to a 200m NCAA title. It was a combo of the right runner with the right coach which made this happen. I have been watching track since I was kid starting with the 72 olympics and no runner has topped her form. FloJo's form was hardly ever described with scientific terms..it was too artistic for that.... more like magic...she floated across the track with a zen like relaxation. I remember in the 88 games..the last cold war games and the announcers would comment about how she looked the most relaxed in the stadium ..before...during and after the race. Everyone else was tensing up. Focus on the face ..not only did she not strain....she was freaking smiling at WR pace well before hitting the line. When it comes to form there was Flo-Jo and then everyone else is a distant second. She is still studied to this day. Her form is more art than science. Smooth as butter. If you want a more detailed assessment of her form this is a great youtube video. Flo-Jo vs Bolt skills comparison

Flojo reached out further forward and straightened her front leg more than others am I right? And her roughly consistent 90 degree arm angle also seems unique. Aside from that, her head remains level and still and her upper body did not twist. Most graceful by a wide margin.

I think some of your assessments are incorrect, while some others are DEAD ON. A few of your assessments are based solely on the examples you’ve shown, rather than the bulk of races from some of these athletes. For instance, Baptiste doesn’t usually tie up in the end…she even gained on Jeter in one race! Ahoure doesn’t often hold on well. ShaCarri’s form is crazy next level…her form should be closer to the best and especially not down below some of the folks you have ahead of her. I also think your assessment of Shelly is true only based upon the older Shelly (who was uninhibited), and not the version we’ve been seeing the past 7 years, or so. In reality, Fraser is third or fourth to FloJo in terms of race execution and technique. I think FloJo, Marion Jones, Jeter, and SAFP, then, Elaine and ShaCarri. I say FloJo and Jones because they’re both 200M champions and were both basically unbeatable under any circumstances in their prime. I didn’t put Elaine there because Elaine has the best technique and can run 100/200M, but she only wins and has great execution once in a while. ShaCarri is with Elaine in the most advanced technique, but, she’s not yet mastered it too be very consistent and a sure shot. SAFP is very consistent, so, we have to pride her in her technique, as that’s what’s leading to the consistency. I also like your analysis of Allyson Felix…she is on this list higher up because she was not very “fast”…she was just very “strong”, and used her strength and technique to run much faster than she otherwise would’ve run. Great video, nonetheless!

Ironically, over the 100 she seemed to explode over the first 40... then seemed to lose a little momentum...and almost re-accelarate back into the race.
