Thanks for the follow up! I did the "refurb" on the starter motor last weekend and it's been fine since, even with a very low state of charge on the battery. Fingers crossed it lasts a bit longer than yours did! 🙂
do you have any more details about what a "refurb" would be in this case. I'm at my 2nd starter motor replacement , in two years ... and I'm starting to think it's not the start itself, but something else...

If you're on your second starter motor in that space of time, it's got to be something else - probably a poor connection to the starter motor solenoid or the motor itself.
or add a mini solenoid to the starter and double up using the feed from the starter itself? (or add another 40 A relay adjacent to starter- with feed to relay from starter)
Ive read the problem could be the starter relay burning out inside.
