I was in the NCNG from 1970-76. I never was activated during that time. It makes me proud to have been part of the NG looking back. What these men and women are doing will stay with them for the rest of their lives. They're definitely making a difference in many people's lives.
Good work kids. Now put your head gear on and look like soliders. If your co wants to run around out of uniform let him. And shut the doors on my tractor. Please. The door on a regular tractor cost thousands. I can not imagine what an armoured door costs? You beat the door and hinges off it running around with it open. That is before you catch it on a tree or dump body. Tighten it up. You guys did a great job. Used what was there and made it look pretty good. You got to sit in that seat a long time to make it look smooth and easy. Good work team. Glad you are out there making it right.
Glad you are there helping folks. I'm a motor grader operator, an boys let me tell y'all one thing, put that material in in 6" lifts and compact it, it won't settle as much down the line. I can run a hoe but I'm not fast so I'm not hacking on y'all. Just 45 years of experience I'm trying to share. God bless yall. One other thing, backdrag each bucketful, makes life easier👍
The backhoes are High Mobility Engineer Excavators (HMEE). JCB - 6.7-liter diesel power plant capable of moving its 17.5 tons at 60 mph. I have never seen these before. I have seen a lot of back hoes in my life but never these! These are actually called Excavators - JCB is an English Company but there is a plant in Pooler, GA (close to Savannah) that assembles these! I get the operator thing - I thought that too but maybe these machines are new to the Guard - 60 mph is no joke!
I bet ya ifbtge army would just bring the equipment those mountain people would show them how to run the equipment prayers for all of you effected and prays your life comes back to as normal as it can
It's a great thing that the state guard is doing for the people of WNC . As a retired NCO I see several individuals starting around when their hands in their pokes. I'm sure they could be doing something that is more constructive with there time.
You need someone that knows how to operate that machine. Other that that you are doing a fine job, THANK YOU. Thank you for your service. USN 1966-1970
I was a pipe layer for 18 yrs, can operate backhoe which that is CAT ,JHON DEER ,same as dozers & excavators. Little painful to watch, the only way you' lol learn is to actually do it with safety. You're learning. Keep up the good work/ job of helping out these kind folks in your state. Sending prayers for all....Thank you for your guys service as well & be safe.
hats off to these young men for helping out and serving our country in a very good and helpful way. not for nothing but my neighbors driveway/culvert got washed out and the culverts or tiles were covered with small stones and dirt. mine didnt Get wasehd out because the culvert pipe was bedded in with large stones and chunks of rock covered with small stone and crushed rock over it. built by the TVA back in the day
Do all nc national guards keep their hands in their pockets. i used to have to extra duty all night, for being caught in fort hood, and this is on camera..... lets stay in uniform guys. AR670-1. everyone is watching.
its good there helping but it would have been better to have an good operator on the machine it would have been done in half the time and so much better.
Too many chiefs stand around not enough help. Use the backhoe a lot more than the buck and reach out and get the rocks and fill . I think a 10 year old could do better. These guys spend to much time around the card table and not training and working the equipment
Why even spend time Ie $ on this video. I mean don't get me wrong thanks for taking care of that 1. But I was just a 1 dude with micro digger and worked a hole hollae. Judging on the shadows for you squad just standing around 1 opp.worked all day. Standing under day light for best lightning for photo op. Not conquering more missions.. I would like to say that I didn't see this more than once in person. But at least you got pictures on your phone of somebody doing something. And the group photo at the end you should at least rub some dirt on your camis so you look like you did something
I'll be in Asheville later this week be glad to give out lessons so some training with you guys. Thank you for your service God bless America
talks easy let's see some work
Thank you gentlemen for what you all have done for Nebo and all of McDowell county im USNavy 1968-1972
A little painful to watch , but Kudos for trying , thumbs up to the NC national guard for helping the people
Painful no doubt 😂
@williamwalters1184 At least.
They're helping folks unlike you Keyboard warriors criticizing them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the equipment operator was clueless.
Atleast they're helping folks. It doesn't have to be perfect as long as they can get in and out
I bet ya ifbtge army would just bring the equipment those mountain people would show them how to run the equipment prayers for all of you effected and prays your life comes back to as normal as it can

Nope.. it's hiw they learn. Gotta learn...

@LevyMorris-r1t At least they are helping folks, unlike you Keyboard warriors criticizing them while sitting on your couch doing nothing.
We take care of our own. NCNG is the best !

Thank you for taking the time away from your jobs and families to help those in need!
Yall need to greas them pins and fins an operator. But thank you for the help. God bless you all
Now that I have seen it, I have to have one of those armored backhoes.

It's great to see the national guard there is crooked ass government finally released them to do something
How cute...army people
You supposed to put dirt over the pipe not drag it off the top of the pipe
Captain Warren H Hall Jr. 2/252 Armor !
LOWER GEAR
I see nothing has changed. 10 soldiers standing around while one works. All with their hands in their pockets.
I’d love to have a hoe like that. You talk about turning out some work. Dang boy
Now it just needs about 50 tons of # 2 rock on it
Thank You for your service. Sorry for the photo exploitation! But the gov't needs to be able to show they are actually doing something.
Do all nc national guards keep their hands in their pockets. i used to have to extra duty all night, for being caught in fort hood, and this is on camera..... lets stay in uniform guys. AR670-1. everyone is watching.
Can they get some new equipment?
I take it, this was before the 101st and 82nd Airborne left because of supposed threats by the local militia...🤔
its good there helping but it would have been better to have an good operator on the machine it would have been done in half the time and so much better.
Unfortunately he was the only operator available... the 10 other troops there were too busy standing around with their hands on their pockets lol,..
5 Yard bucket 2 yard load -- Good they don't do this for a living --
Too many chiefs stand around not enough help. Use the backhoe a lot more than the buck and reach out and get the rocks and fill . I think a 10 year old could do better. These guys spend to much time around the card table and not training and working the equipment
Poor operator skills on that backhoe , if he is the best we’ve got we are in trouble ?

MTF better start for all the shoulder injuries patting themselves on the back for that one
That tractor is a hunk of junk lol slow hydraulics and a mediocre operator. Who like most military just doesn’t have a lot of experience 😂
