    Update: Mad Catz is back from the dead! Well, they're back in the sense that the brand was acquired by a manufacturing firm in China that used to build certain Mad Catz devices. They've also been restructured under new management than the old Mad Catz completely and that is probably for the best. Doesn't seem like they're doing fight sticks anymore either, at least not yet.

      Well, you also have to remember that back in the late 80s going into the 90s, many of us gamers were kids. We had no money of our own. Even if your parents were awesome enough to not get you engaged in the console wars (I was lucky to have a SNES Genesis and PC, I was actually kinda poor... But how that came about was another story), the reality is, the OEM peripherals could still be expensive. So, parents would end up getting the cheaper 3rd party açcessories. Mainly because of the expense and not knowing better.
      Come the 6th gen or so, many of us had our own jobs at last. So many of us would just buy OEM, since we knew better. Mad Catz had to go niche because of this. Hell, I have a 4 year old now who is starting to play vidya. You think I want to use a 3rd party controller for her, my wife, or myself?
      It literally came down to a huge change in who was actually purchasing the products.

      Couldn't have said it better! It is also the best vid I've seen on this channel so far. Earned my "Sub" now. One thing not mentioned is that they were far behind in creating the Star Citizen controllers - that just vanished into thin air and even Cloud Imperium Games allegedly never heard from Saitek (then still under Mad Catz) how they are coming along. CIG still hopes that Logitech follows through with the production.

      Snick Snack not every product they made was bad. Although in 99 i got one for Gran Turismo 1 and it was so sensitive i turn the wheel a little and it turned all the way took it back to Wal Mart exchanged it, same thing. I couldn't get a refund because it was Christmas present didn't have receipt lol.

    I actually loved my mad catz controllers, my brother and I would use them even when we had the original ones. I guess we just liked how they lit up and had a pretty intense rumble feature. Like it would make my hands go numb from how hard it would shake.

    I was definitely waiting for this one. God I hated my friends for getting Mad Cats controllers and shoving them off on me. Only controller I ever got that wasn't from the console manufacturer was a logitech wireless controller for the original xbox, that thing still works to this day, solid controller.

    • @Worstplayer
      @Worstplayer 7 років тому +2

      Yeah old Logitech controllers were indestructible. Still using the Chillstream from 2007 or so as my main gamepad. It has a fan that blows the sweat off your hands, most comfortable thing ever.
      Would be actually a good fit for Oddware, one of few "gimmick" controllers that's actually good.

    4:48 I had that Dreamcast controller. It was actually quite good, and it lasted for as long as I used the console. But all the other mad catz controllers I had ALWAYS developed a heavy bias in their analog sticks, which made them useless.

    The R.A.T.7 mouse is probably one of the things I regret the most spending money on. I bought it cause it looked all futuristic and cool, but it ended up breaking after less than a year of use, and just started randomly turning off, causing my computer to bluescreen and causing all kinds of havoc.

      Now i use a Nemesis Kata mouse which i got for £15, it has a simple comfortable design and works brilliantly. I'll never buy an expensive mouse ever again!

    • @9wattcat

      Made the same mistake here. Bought a RAT9 Because of the futuristic style and the "Great Wireless technologies" that it had. The mouse pointer started flicking all over the damn screen for no apparent reason and the batteries died one year after i bought it, just out of the warranty period. There was nothing in the sensor nor was there anything wrong with the computer. 110 dollars down the drain.
