One of the worst accidents I ever seen took place one rainy night on Lake Avenue in the curve between Holy Sepulchre and Riverside Cemetery. My wife and I were coming from Charlotte heading back into the city. A car that was heading north somehow missed the curve and hit another car head on. The lady in the passenger seat of the car heading toward the city did not have her seat belt on and hear head hot the windshield and her body went under the dash, to this day I do not know if she lived. It was just horrible. I also recall how we used to go to my uncle Kenny's house in Irondequoit and my dad would turn down River Street and we'd see the fire house there and then go over the Stutson Street bridge, I miss that.
I remember taking the #1 Lake Ave bus in the 40's and 50's as a kid coming out of the 10th Ward at Lakeview Park intersection going to Charlotte beach during hot summer days to swim and hang out in sun at Charlotte beach. What a great relief from the muggy heat wave. Sometimes, if the normal west to east wind pattern got reversed, then all the chemical fluids Kodak was 24/7/365 was dumping out into the Genessee river at Driving Park and St. Paul St would blow westward and cause the waves to boil with chemical bubbles as they washed up on the beach. Us kids had to hold our noses and dive underwater to swim out beyond the toxic roil out to deep water in order to be able to cool off etc. In the 50's they didn't have ANY epa etc etc, nor what ole Donny Bonespurs calls "toxic REGULATIONS" prevent all the kids from swallowing and breathing in that poisonous corporate dumped shit!!!
Foreigner's 1979 song "Rev on the Red Line," a song recalling Lou Gramm's drag racing days, brought me here: "...Running all night on Lake Avenue. It's a piece of cake if you know what to do..." Thanks for posting this. Here's a lyric video: ua-cam.com/video/Yfyxo-lFA0Y/v-deo.html

Lake Avenue is the direct route to the main beach in Rochester. It attracts a lot of motorcycles, muscle cars, and a lot of riffraff. It has been made somewhat famous for racing from a Foreigner song from back in the early 80s or so reflecting the racing culture and Lake Avenue. About a half dozen motorcyclists and several pedestrians have been killed on the north side of route 104 since I moved here in 2015.
back when i was growing up in the 90's lake ave was a kool place to hangout and have fun, nowadays it is the murder capitol of rochester where serial murders and rapes happen daily@@fabianortiz1712

My husband hauled hazardous materials into Kodak Park for 25 years. He is retired now and misses all the fine people who worked there.
He probably misses all the streetwalkers...
At 6:57 the old Lakeshore record exchange is on your right.
