Made with my cousins and uncles while at a hotel for my other cousin's wedding. If you ever have time to kill at a family gathering make something together, it's fun!
Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
It clearly showed! :D
I thought it read if you have time to kill a family member
Everyone did a great job!
I honestly thought you hired actors, your family is amazing, this story was awesome and hilarious.
i couldnt tell the difference, i thought they were all you
No exaggeration this ones a masterpiece
top joel haver skits bracket on hivemind
@@craigape Magnum Opus?
@@craigape S-tier, magnificent, galaxy-brain, golden, sex, sex-inducing, brainussy-slaying, nice
It's his best video so far this year!
The guy with the hat is hilarious
Joel appearing for no more than 10 seconds in a video on his own channel just to inexplicably deliver a horseshoe to his cousins is such a Joel thing to do
I wanna know why they had a horseshoe just lying around!
didn't he die tommorow?
It's very Hitchcock
@@NoNameAtAll2 what does this mean
@@NoNameAtAll2 No he's going to die last week.
instantly an absolute top-tier Joel creation
up there with depressed frisbee kid
agreed!
I have watched two Charlie Kaufman films in my lifetime, and this counts as my third!
Lot of good videos lately. This channel keeps getting better.
-- And he Alfred Hitchcocks his way into it as Passerby With Horseshoe! Top-tier!
Joel’s part as the guy with the horseshoe was amazing. Unbelievable method acting..
Apparently he walked down hotel hallways with a horseshoe for months. Dedication to his craft.
It's like I really believed he handed them a horseshoe.
@@trublgrl exactly, right!?
I wasn’t sure he could pull it off after the original performer dropped out on such short notice. What a work ethic.
It’s like he truly **became** a guy handing off a horseshoe. I mean, he lived it, man. It was in your face, and you couldn’t avoid seeing it.
Man its crazy to think that Joel would age those two gentlemen 30 years just for a short film, great method acting right there.
Making good content requires sacrifice! Preferably by somebody else
Even Big Money Erik wouldn't put that much effort for a video. Though we'll find out in 30 years
deep message ... when you are young you have 3000 options ... when you get older not so many and you are fucked ... be thankful for your oppurtunities
Thank you. It’s what I needed to hear.
Wait... that's actually pretty smart lol
🤯
What the fuck...we're fucked
What the fuck, we're fucked
“What the fuck, we’re fucked.” Beautifully delivered. I almost shed a tear 🥲
I think part of this video's purpose was to get their dads to say "What the fuck? We're fucked" over and over again.
I am always so happy to see Jim Haver. His acting is freakin fantastic.
His delivery on "holy shit that might work" is perfection.
I love how Joel is fine with being an extra in his own videos 😊
Cuz sometimes it's not about the screentime, it's about the art ❤️.
I mean he was even dead for a few of them
@@mishXY Joel truly gives everything for his art
Directing while acting is a lot of extra work. I think it's impressive he found the time for such a cameo
Just a regular old director's cameo
The fact that Joel's only cameo was to hand off a horseshoe was pure gold.
Also love the idea of sending a Frenchman to their door.
Your relatives absolutely knocked it out of the park! I was so sure they were sketch pros, my first instinct was to look up their UA-cam channels after this!
I thought that one guy was Oompaville at first
Beautiful, I cried 4 times and got 44 tears on my BLOMFU keyboard
oh shit are your fours ok?
@@mauricebarth4401only a fool would cry over their four zone.
The best kind of Joel videos are the ones where you don't know if the person in it is one of Joel's family members or an actual youtuber with experience in acting and comedy
I don't know how he does it, but Joel always seems to bring the best acting out of everybody
The Haververse is vast and infinite
You can play as the aliens if you want to. :D
That “end of options” part instilled in me copious amounts of dread. This one was beautiful, Joel.
This absolutely exudes late 2000’s youtube in the best way possible.
What an unbelievably smart and fun idea to explore!
😢
I mean, UA-cam started in 2005 so early 2000s UA-cam was just not having youtube
@@ohmydinosare u right lemme fix that real quick
That's what I love about this channel, not too many people make skits like this anymore.
Stressful day at work, but hyped to see this just came out. Thanks Joel
Sorry to hear it was a stressful day, hope this video could provide some much needed chuckles!
Same.
This is the most creative and and most hilarious video I’ve watched, ever. Hands down. Joel you’re a freaking genius film maker!
Thank you Vic! Happy you enjoyed it :)
This actually made me mess with my voice-mail settings, now I feel like a fool.
@@Joel-Haver There's also a dark undertone, like growing old means running "out of options" hidden meaning. Or I imagined it...
@@foljs5858 hmm cool interpretation, i like that
@@foljs5858 I think it's intentional. I wonder if it was inspired by his recent video about rewatching films, as he did mention Synechdoche, New York having a greater impact on him each watch.
Never really thought about what would happen after pressing 1. I’ve never done it in my entire life but it’s so familiar to me 😂
I feel like Jack Haver would have loved this one in particular. Great work Joel and way to keep it in the fam!
I appreciate their hesitation with sending to aliens. You never know WHICH aliens might get it and don’t want to piss anyone off. Such gentlemanly blokes.
This was actually a great concept and done really well lol. Even more impressive that it's all just family members!
Geez Joel, that transition at 4:16 was so smooth. My jaw dropped. Amazing work here. Your family is incredible!
"Press 8 to have a nice day."
"It's beautiful out there!"
Man you are either great at giving direction, or you have a talented family
The consistent performances in all his vids the former is certainly true
You can feel Joel in the way they deliver some lines. You could watch this video with no context or credits, and the moment Henry says "speed dial, type the numbers faster", you'd know you were watching a Joel Haver film. The wit, the pacing, the delivery, all undeniably Joel. The guy's exceptional.
Porque no los dos
Your family all has a specific accent that is entirely unique to the rest of the world. I love it.
04:56 Oscar winning performance. Tears, people! Real, palpable emotional performance. BUY THAT MAN A BEER!
I loved that delivery. Something about it just made me laugh!
This is the best video ever
Super high quality uncles! And cousins!
Joel getting his family to act in a top tier video while I can’t even get my family to show up for a dinner that was planned 6 months in advance. Jk I don’t have a family.
I need more batshit sci-fi Joel Haver like this hilarious concept
It's always peak Joel for me, they're genius and immediate classics!
Such a clever conceit, but the genius was in the execution. Lots of short comedy filmmakers would have just played out the premise, but you explored the premise and introduced a conflict from it, which not only heightened tension but also gave it a proper narrative structure. Loved it!
The fact you got such great performances out of your relatives shows your ability as a director. Also, you have an awesome family.
Or just that it's easy to see where Joel gets the talent from, clearly runs in the family!
this one got that old joel haver flavor with a side of jack haver stank on it
I see we've got new additions to the Joel Haver Universe
How did I know that Joel's uncle's were uncles before reading the description lol. They just have such uncle energy
So glad they went outside to keep recording, it was such a nice day!
🤯
That was my favorite bit:
"Press 8 to have a nice day."
*raises curtain to look outside* "It's fucking beautiful out there!"
That hotel looks pretty familiar 😂 excellent work, gentlemen! 👏
Moose, is that you? We love you man! Thanks for chilling with us when we couldn't find a way back to our less-swanky hotel.
Lolololol love this! Thank you again for the offer to crash in the lobby, Moose! We did end up stealing a car to get home that night, but thankfully Joel doesn’t drink and the car was our other cousin’s so it all worked out in the end 👍 lol
i wish my family had the comedy gene
I don’t know why, but Charlie ever so gently slamming his fist against the wall at 4:43 got to me
Mozart, K. 330 (2nd movement). Lovely choice.
Thanks so much man! I was trying to figure out what the familiar piece was but couldn’t identify it with apps with all the voices.
Hey Joel, I still come back to this one occasionally. It's personally my favorite. Thanks for making this!
This may honestly be my favorite video of yours to date
Absolutely agreed. Having it all be Joel's family really makes it come full circle!
I notice he pressed pound instead of 1. He didn't want to actually activate the wormhole in real life just for a sketch.
This video was very informative, thank you
Couldn't they just have made their own option to go back 30 years?
Honestly, the throwback to "guys kind of guy" put the biggest smile on my face. Your family is amazing 😂 😂 😂 ❤ ❤ ❤
1. Funny and great acting
2. This inspires me to make movies with family,
I used to do it in my late teen early 20s
That pan away for the Jay Leno reveal was nuts!
that was actually brilliant
The Jay Leno bit is def a reference to that movie "Being John Malkovich", if anyone wanna see that idea fleshed out to the extreme, watch this movie!!
this is painfully reminding me of the time i promised a friend i would call her, but i got very sweaty and nervous, so i managed to leave a voicemail without actually ringing her phone, and she thought her phone was broken and i never revealed the truth
i'm so sorry for lying to you, paige
I'll never forgive you as long as I live!!!!!!11
- Paige
@@A_Ducky who are you?!? did you steal my identity?
Don't worry about it, phonecalls are spooky
- Paige
I really thought Jay Leno would appear for a cameo somehow.
it's amazing how your uncles have the exact same energy your dad had, i love that, it's like seeing him again
(i'm guessing they're your dad's side if not mb lol)
He really encapsulated Jay Leno's whole being into that "CARS!"
This must've been so much fun to make with his family members. Joel's video ideas are endless. Lol
I keep getting worried how Joel can keep up this tremendous high quality output of ideas and videos over the course of time.
Don't know how he keeps this up!
@@ComedyBros5 I think because of how random his ideas are, he will probably have more for a long while. He could just make a story about a cup & it'll work perfectly in his comedic style.
Ok, this is my favourite one yet
Just got off the phone with my High School trying to get my Transcripts, boy do I love talking to answering machines
I'm inchin for way more amazing videos of the same caliber as this amazing video which was really good.
"You have now entered, the Haver Zone" 😱
I love the gental pounding on that wall from your uncle (because its a hotel room and they're *acting*)
The best part is after you get thru all the bazillion options.... and the actual person hangs up on ya. I live for those Comcast calls 🤙
if you can provide the last 5:16 part without the music it would be a great meme
Seems like you were lucky enough to be born into a family where everyone is just effortlessly funny
If you happen to know Joel are you just automatically a good actor??
The fourth wall break was hilarious. Thank you for this
Someone write an SCP article about this, immediately
One of the best scripts I’ve seen in a while! Hilarious and deep concept!
That was actually some pretty good italian, I don't know if he studied it. It does sound a bit off, but it's much more comprehensible than I would have expected!
Glad to see your cousin again after the tech support sketch!
It is 4:40 in Kyiv, cruise missile attack alert, birbs are singing as it's their last day, lilac blooms and smells harder than CS gas. And I am laughing out loud cause of this video.
Thank you ))))
This is high art and your uncles are freaking legends.
A beautiful tale of using one's youth while one has it and taking the shots we're offered or ending up a bewildered old person who can't turn back time. This is what Click should have been. Can Joel remake Click? I think if he can make it actually funny and have the guy really feel like he learns a lesson in the end this time it'd be a masterpiece. I think he would nail it.
This is truly entertaining and hilarious. I love the idea, and also the pace of the video. My favourite scene has to be the horseshoe one. Thanks to the team 😁
I see Haver video piano as someone’s mind or situation is a little off the rails(more than usual), time to go with hectic flow😁
the way your uncles voices carry over their own sentences, the pacing of it, is so good for this type of skit wtf
I was just thinking it would be great to see another vid with Joel's uber-talented family members. "The Kids' Table" is a classic, and one of my favorites. Now we have a new classic
I really like the ones with your family. All the ones with your Dad, the one where you are the adult at the kids table, the one where you break into the house and your mom is casually whacking her boots with the baseball bat, the pet turtle, and this one! ❤
Henry.... thats one guys' guy type of guy right there.
Came for the MMORPG, stayed for Joel’s family.
For some reason what made me smile is that these dudes have all the power they can possibly imagine yet unlike most comedy sketch characters in their position they still care about doing what's right and ethically responsible lmfao.
List of all known options:
[0:40] 1 and/or # (the voice says "press 1" but on the screen it shows the pound key was clicked):
"Press 1 to replay your message."
"Press 2 to delete your message."
"Press 3 to rerecord your message."
"Press 4 to leave a callback number."
"Press 5 to try your call again."
"Press 6 to [download] your message."
[0:56] ##:
"Press 1 to call a random number."
"Press 2 to play your message backwards."
"Press 3 to send your message to a random number."
"Press 4 to send your message to all your contacts, except your dad."
"Press 5 to send your message only to your dad 50 times."
Pressing 6 leads to a fart noise.

"Press 1 to change one word to "fucker" in your message."
"Press 2 to change all words to "fucker" in your message."
"Press 3 to send your message ... into the cloud."
"Press 4 to annihilate your message."
"Pres 5 to send a frenchmen to your recipient's doorstep."
[1:50,] Based on 2:08, and 2 and 4 being clicked, one can assume this is ###, which we can infer from 2:16 translates to "page 29":
"Press 2 to look down the hallway."
"Press 3 to..."
"Press 4 for the man walking by you to hand you a horseshoe."
[2:04] ###*5, which is also page 34:
"Press 2 to learn pretty good Italian."

"Press 4 to resend your message in German."
"Press 5 to send your message to aliens."
"Press 6 to force the caller to pick up."
[2:49] ###*33, ###*338, or ###*3384 (though it's far more likely the first one, as ## only went up to 29):
"Press 6 to have your own Wikipedia page."
"Press 7 to record your own option for the next caller."
"Oh, oh gosh. Uh, my own option. Um, huh, I wasn't, uh, I guess press 8 to have a nice day."
[3:16] ##6*5 (this page format is unusual, perhaps they learned off camera they could shorten the amount of hashtags by putting the number of hashtags they wish in between the first two and the page number. According to that theory, this is ########*5):
"Press 2 to discover your own species."
"Press 3 to become Jay Leno."
[3:54] Undetermined:
"Press 5 to forgive a long-held grudge."
"Press 6 to age thirty years."
"End of options. Have a nice day. Goodbye."
another instant classic from joel
That speed dial joke was mmmm Sheppard's pie.
2:07 that Italian was awful and barely coherent... I guess that that phone is a bit broken! XD
This is the best video I've ever seen, hilarious Joel
Press "F" to pay respect for the amazing content this channel provides us with!
Holy fuck. How profound. You have infinite options in life. You age and become old. Then you run out of options and there’s no going back. This is awesome.
And now, I challenge the modern day computer nerds to join forces with the phone phreaks of the 80s/90s to actually create this system.
Things worth doing before getting old:
Fart sound
Fart sound
Fart sound
Have a nice day
Eat shepherds pie
For just a moment I thought to myself. There's no way they got Jay Leno to be in this video.... is Jay Leno about to appear in this video?
Holy shit, this was transcendent, and I say that as someone in his 6th decade (barely). That old guy and his friend are basically me and my bestie when I see him once a year without the sci-fi.
That's some SCP stuff.
So cool!
We need a Black Mirror episode of that! idk...
That “Collage” hat is incredible
those uncles deserve oscars for using 100% of their willpower to not bust out laughing after every sentence
This is vaguely like the King door thing where the next door is forbidden but better then the last until your just dropped into a horrible place
Pressing option 8 on page 390 to share this video with every living person on the planet.
Yelling "FUCK FUCK FUCK" while gently pounding on the wall is incredible
Two dudes having a couple two-hearted ales! This wedding must’ve been a blast!
Funny how the Italian part is actually wrong 😂. Love you Joel and love your actors
This was fantastic, one of your bests for sure.
this is legit an ok concept for an scp
