A little history. In 1910 Baker City residents voted to change the name to just Baker. Then in 1989, they voted to have it Baker City. I still call it Baker.
Baker City and Mt. View RV Park are great! I stayed there recently and impressed with the great service. Have fun. For excellent steak, try the Haines Steak House in Haines, Or, about 10 or so miles north of Baker.
You are real lucky to have landed there. Joe Rudi famous left fielder lives very near where you are camped. Also just a couple of miles north of you in Haines, OR they have a wonderful museum. Also they have many restored log cabins in town from the 1800's. Still hoping to see you when you come through Nampa, ID on I-84.
Love your drone footage Russ. I could see your campsite at Mountain View rv and mobile home park when you pulled in from your roof or dash cam. I really like the site that gave you nestled in between the trees seems to me like you got the best site in the park. looking forward to your next video. I have not missed one yet on this trip.
So much of the buildings and stuff were never there when I was there in the 60s. Baker has expanded what's the population has not increased. I left there in 1963 to go into the army. I have never lived there since this RV park definitely was not there.
Great video Russ, nice tour of the RV Park...Hoping in your upcoming videos you will spend a bit more time showing the RV parks and places you are staying also.
From the passing signs it looks like gas is about the same as it is in the evil, expensive, overtaxed California. I'm definitely in the habit of watching your trip.
Empty town, no people walking on the sidewalks, no life. Looks like a ghost town. A little frightening to see. Is this normal for towns in the US ? Where are all the people? Hiding in the houses? In the towns in my country you will see a lot of people walking around.
Hi, If this was a Sunday or before 10am almost all the stores are closed. Otherwise parking is a challenge at times. This will be surprising to many. This street has.... art galleries, restaurants, award winning breweries, gift shops, a "mall" with various business and other businesses... all entrepreneurs. A long running theater group is now in process of revitalizing an old movie house (donated) for it's own theater. Side streets have long standing businesses including A Food Co-op A Movie Theater (which has a yearly film festival) and other small businesses in town Public Library (open 7 days a week) has the Sage System (which has lending available from state wide libraries) The history musuem is well run by volunteers a couple just purchased an old school a few years back. which has venues for movies, art etc. and a bicyclist hostel. Crossroads Carnegie Art Center... has exhibits, classes, bookreadings dance and yearly Childrens Theater. What is most impressive to me is that philanthropy runs rampant :) in this small town. I type all this with a totally unbiased view as I have only been in this area for a few years. thanks for reading!
You missed some really great spots from where you were on the Washington side. Pendleton, The Blue Mountains and even more so a ride up the tram at Joseph Oregon. Oh well..........if you're headed through Idaho don't miss the Hwy 30 drive past Thousand Springs south of Hagerman Idaho. Pretty amazing place with cascading waterfalls coming out of the mountainsides.
Fourth. Why you gotta be raging on McDonalds all the time? He is just a nice farmer who sponsors spelling bees. And we all know we have had problems with educating bees to recognize pollen. Oh My !
Hi,I enjoy your vlogs ! I wondering what do you use for internet service ? Do you just use a phone, hotspot, wifi? If you don't mind I would like to know? I got rid of my wifi because of cost, my phone has a hotspot but not enough to run my computer to update software and etc. Do had any suggestions for a economical alternative to hardline wifi? Would appreciate any suggestions.
Baker elevation is 3500' - it's in a valley with the Elkhorn and Blue Mountains all around which rise to ~9000- SO BEAUTIFUL!
Love little Baker City. Grew up and lived there 40 years. Now Kingman Arizona is home. Great video Russ.
Don’t know why your voice is so comforting 😊
Thank you for sharing🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love Baker City.
That’s crazy. I live in baker city and that RV park u stayed is actually right behind my house!
Baker is a beautiful and proud little town - clean, quiet and welcoming although very right wing so don't tell them you're a progressive!!!
Just ran across this, Russ. Thank you for the tour of this RV Park. Plan to go there in a month or so.
Got snowed in at Baker City once. Two days to get the highway open again. Fun times
On Old highway 30 there's a thermal Hot springs where there used to be a swimming pool if not still there.
If you visit Pendelton OR and have the time, visit the "underground city." It's where Chinese people were forced stay between sundown and sunrise.
When u bring your drone up high above the pool that house with the big yard and that white car by the fence is my house. How crazy!
A little history. In 1910 Baker City residents voted to change the name to just Baker. Then in 1989, they voted to have it Baker City. I still call it Baker.
It had turned into a retirement community back in the seventies I believe but now it looks like a tourist town.
Nice video. I visited Baker Oregon year's ago. Charming place.
Always love the drone footage. Thanks Mr.Russ. Cheers!!!

Truly enjoyed your video learned a lot about The area. Hope you have an enjoyable stay look forward to seeing more videos.👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌞
The Hotel is the Geyser Grand. First Dale Carnegie steel frame building west of the Mississippi around 1895.
Long way from Quarzsite see you next year there

Baker City has changed a lot scene this video was made 5 years ago.
That park is really nice, like the trees. Cute buildings. Boy, that drone footage is so clear. Nice weather! TY. 😊👍
The park is great to stop driving for awhile and eat lunch , if you’re passing through town.
Have you ever considered doing a “Yuck-Donald’s” commercial?🤣
Great video! I really enjoyed seeing the RV park and the view of those snow capped mountains, just beautiful!
Looks like your found another nice campground to spend some R & R at. Russ the High Plaines RV'er. Happy trails.
It’d be great IF your camera would turn toward the visual’s!
Love the drone work......... enjoy....... thanks Russ.....
Hey Russ! Great drone footage. Looks like a good place to dig in and get some work done. Hope you have a productive weekend;😃🌻
Great video Russ, nice tour of the RV Park...Hoping in your upcoming videos you will spend a bit more time showing the RV parks and places you are staying also.
I was just there and Pendleton last week of June. Beautiful towns, looking to move out of California.
What was your day and night temperatures this time of year at Mt View RV Park? ?
I was wondering the same
@@oxtuckian Well. I see he "loved" my comment /question but I'm not seeing any kind of an answer yet.
Hope you can see John Day and that area. All beautiful country down there!
From the passing signs it looks like gas is about the same as it is in the evil, expensive, overtaxed California. I'm definitely in the habit of watching your trip.
Gas is much more expensive in the central valley of California - close to $4 a gallon for Chevron regular. Lesser brands of gas run about $3.70.
I remember stopping for fast food and sundries there last year!
wow! A Sinclair station, cool! 👍

What time of the day was this? The place looked deserted, sad.
