You got me missing my Amigas now. I used to use one of those software packages, I don't recall which, but they were fun and easy to use. The Amiga has amazing sound, outclassing other computers in it's day.
WOW! Thanks for showing the side-by-side comparison @ 8:10! This is how I personally would like my stuff to sound like; I'm astounded how big of a sound you were able to achieve with just four tracks, at that.
no you cant , efect is applied to a specific sample on a specific channel on a specific spot. you got only one effect which includes volume per "row" per channel. if you want ie change volume and you have note delay ... youre fucked. in this case if you apply effect on channel 4, youre changing volume on 14th sample D#3 on 4th tick and not where you want it. you can boost volume by doubling, which i cant recomend since youre using 2 channels and EVERY channel is precious. youd change volume and app fx on any channel looooooooooool right XD was that a joke?
@@CaudaMiller i think lainet is talking the Fxy command ctrix could have moved the F08 command to channel 4 and then there would have been space on channel 3
i still have an A500, DSS8+ (8bit stereo parrallel port digitiser), cd32 with SX-1expansion, whole heap of disks with samples and MODs - used to be fun messing round in Protracker (still have the coverdisk it came on somewhere) - there was OctalMed as well (8 track seq.). My brother and his mates made a remix of the Mission Impossible theme back like 30 years ago, on two, synched (press go at same time kinda thing) C64's, for a total 8 ind tracks - sounded awesome but has dissappered foreva, sadly. ___ AMIGA FOR EVER ___
Thank you for this gem. I have an Amiga 2000 + PAR card ,I used it as a video montage and 3D (Imagine+Lightwave) gear. but I made some tracks with Protraker in my spare time . Unfortunately the floppy disks is damaged thru times and not readable. I'm happy that I found Sunvox tracker for PC MAC IPhone..... Also Renoise is another tracker for PC and Mac but not on Phones and Tablets. Viva 1, 4, 8 bit.
I used to have an Amiga back in the days. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a good, working version of the Amiga 500 or similar for U.K.? Thanks in advance.
Those were the days. 4 channels. Required a lot more skill to write music with such restricted technology. Nowadays a standard free tracker program gives you 32 channels. Twas the Amiga that first got me into writing music. Never tried protracker, I only had soundtracker.
Woltato Actually, with programs like Renoise, only CPU, RAM and imagination is your limit... and the latter is mostly what fails.. never blame the technology of human lack of skills :-D
+Slay Sure, but I think the platforms that succeeded back then, were those that were able to hit the right balance between CPU/RAM usage. Eg. C64 with 3 SID channels forced us to think when we squeeze a tune into it. If we had had 8 channels, we had spend much more CPU and RAM on the player and data, leaving less to the games and demos. If we had had 16 channels of sample for Amiga, 512 KB would have been waaay too little for anything too. So my guess is that the platforms that became "the greatest" of their time, were those being able to find the best balance between cost/specs.
I remeber first getting fasttracker on the pc with 32 channels. It seemed amazing after being used to the 4 channel amiga for years. Only a lack of musical talent has held me back since then.
Could I get a copy of the Protracker file for DX-Heaven? I want to try playing it on the tracker file player for the Arduino. I'l just go find the full version to listen to on UA-cam normally or buy it, but I wanted to see how it would sound. The program is on my GitHub page, but it's not originally my code, I only fixed a bug that made it not compile: github.com/TheNH813/arduino-music-player
I can't even do this in Ableton. You are a master.
you should give renoise a try
@@MS-xq7eg Won't make you a better musician, but it's a lot of fun and can make you a lot faster
course you can't lol
Ableton is too clean for this kind of music i find, not grungy enough
It's harder to do it on Ableton than trackers

You could always run Win-UAE, if you run winders, or E-UAE for Linux.
If you want to use protracker on a modern pc, there is a protracker 2.3d clone for windows, mac and linux
16-bits.org/pt2.php
the same person also made a fasttracker 2 clone for windows (forgot about mac and linux so i edited the comment), its on the same website

your channel is a time machine to the 80's,, god i miss those days...
This brings back so many good memories.
I bought your album "a for amiga" - it's really awesome !!
Kind regards from Germany :-)
It's pretty sick. And the way those trackers sample is just so iconic, sonically speaking. Props to you!
Amazing insight into the Amiga workflow, so cool!
5:17 Yes you can, there are free effect columns in both channels 1 and 4 ;)
True

Nice video :) Your samples sound so crisp compared to mine - do you sample directly on the Amiga, or process them on PC?
He processes them with a DAW on a PC.
I still have cassettes with all my Pro,mad, fasttracker songs :D
Still watching.. @8.27.. simply great !!!!...
How did I only get recommended this today? Great video
This video made me download the protracker 2.3d clone on my pc
awesome behind the scenes look!
Man... I seriously think this is stellar !...
Unreal!
Ah the famous ST-02.. Made hundreds of tunes with Amiga in 90s :)
Legend
Nice PT Documentation also :)
dope!
Why am I only seeing this 7 years later?
man! i would like to get my hands on those mod files. i always like breaking down tunes like that
Very cool video!
Thanks cTrix!

eBay
so Cool, thanks for sharing
PD150. Heck yes.
I remember the amiga disks had a certain smell to them
is there any way you could upload all these samples for us to download? i would like to start in the tracker composing
einfach *WOW* !!!
debuglive You should make some songs using and OPL3 synth. I have always loved the sound of FM synthesis.
+Coolkids he did in this video ..the yamaha dx7 is FM synth with a OPL chip
the DX7 used an OPS, not OPL. Same synthesis method, wildly differing sound character.
Are you’re live shows on you tube at all?
Aaaaaaawesoooooome :-D

+Scarzix of Offence But we can only wonder how would the older games sound if the creators had more channels, CPU cycles and memory on their disposal.

Of course, I just kinda took expanding the memory and faster CPUs as a given in my comment

More like squeeeeeeeTrix
Snarky Puppy :)
You can pretty much use amiga emulator since you can't buy amiga anymore.
Amigas can still be bought.
@@RWL2012 It's just hard to find one nowadays
Are u using Protracker withouth a Snake? What a shame lol xD
