Two of the RAF's F-35B Lightning stealth fighter jets have taken to the skies over the North Sea as part of Exercise Point Blank. Aircraft from the British, US and French Air Forces all scrambled together to practise what has been described as part of an "insurance policy" against global threats. The exact details of the scenario are classified but some of the aircraft were playing the enemy whilst the rest were trying to defeat them...

Is it just me or does that F15 look super! I cant believe how modern it look, even compared to modern fighters. That thing is pushing 50 years old!
The Strike Eagle shown was built quite recently, and the E model is also designed to fly much longer than the classic F-15 models
Looked like the F15x.
Alan Murphy I came across your comment and I agree 100%!I'm American and I've always enjoyed seeing the F15's.You're right even though they're pushing 50,they still have that modern sleek look of a fighter!
The Cold War is over...or did it change?
And they say Russian makes better weapons
SMH
Look at those beauties 😍👌🏼
Matsimus I like the F-15 too 😉
atomic3939 You have to give the F-16 it's dues as well though
Lockheed and Boeing do some good work.
Wow, you really do pop up everywhere!
rafale tho😍😍😍😍😍😍

@w link heh thats what i thought too... makes more sense than france tbh

@WL2020 indeed brother
WOW! Can you Imagine how many Nectar points the pilots must get every time they refuel!
I am a very proud Brit but man those F-15's look fantastic :) Nice to see us working with our allies.

hi R P...
yeaaa americans / europeans / NATO-OTAN are the best allys friends as great teams together
F15 is potent when combine with F35.
@@NewmaticKe Well I guess we will have to try the Typhoon and F-35 to match you :)
Hard to believe the F-15 is a 50 year old airplane. It looks right at hone next to those modern fighters. Its aged very well. And with upgrades over the years it is still one of the best fighters in the world.
@@swayzefan3600 Honestly think the F-15 and F-14 would not look out of date ever :) the Russian plane looks as good (but basically they all look the same :) ) The F-18 and F-22 look good but not as good as them two. I think the Typhoon looks great but how will it age?
Was a good article until she asked about Brexit.
Yeah, I just shook my head at that daft question.
Brexit is a big deal. It may sound a little incongruous though, today, a journalist may have to ask how will this type of partnership be affected by corona virus. You cannot progress without questions you see. Ignore them at your peril.
Agreed. This is about military preparedness between us and our allies - nothing to do with Brexit. I was not pro Brexit, but I wouldn’t have mentioned it in this news article, either. Plus, it’s rather a moot point at the moment. Brexit decision has been made, for good or bad. ALL of us in the UK need to work together to make the best of it. No point whinging on about it, now...
@@VanderlyndenJengold NATO is not affected by Brexit. Period. Full stop.

Damn those guys think of everything. They are even flying with fish-eyes on military exercises!

It's a wide angle lense, granted though, if you aligned a ruler to the horizon at that altitude, the curve should be somewhat visible.
@@N75911_ It was a joke mate :)
Rafale! 👍
"Do you think it might be harder to achieve exercises like this post-Brexit?"
Oh goodness yes. The NATO Alliance will fall instantly to pieces, no one will be able to understand each other talk, and British aircraft will run out of fuel before they leave the ground. Great question, love :p
Is it compulsory for journalists to wet their pants about Brexit in every single story they do, regardless of topic?
I was just going to report you and remove your comment from this section however no one else took your comment seriously meaning that you are complete idiot we know who we are and we know who Russia is and we know the mentality of the Russians can we see it in Ukraine so no brexit is not going to destroy NATO not in this Century or any other
Silly question about Brexit...
I can't believe she tried to bring Brexit into it, does she not know about NATO?
DarkWarrior
What the Hell has Brexit got to do with it ,what a stupid question to ask 💩💩💩💩💩💩
They're merely pointing out it won't affect NATO much. No need to be sensitive.
I think she probably asked it simply because its the hot topic in politics and the media, didn't make much sense though
political propaganda, what to expect from todays media
I was watching a f 15 fight with 2 f 35s above my house got to say what a display of skill and expertise good job and keep it up
jack rogers man you should have recorded that
Older aircrafts are usually piloted by veterans and experienced pilots , to stay competitive against their newer counterparts
Why even bring up brexit? Since when did a purely economic state such as the Eu have anything to do with RAF training.
Keep the BBC happy .
To point out it won't affect NATO much?
They're bringing it up so that someone can say "no effect" because they know that will be the line anyhow.
Tim Murphy good point.
EU is hardly a "purely economic" state. It's getting closer to soviet union than anything in the recent years.
So satisfying to watch them all cooperating 💪🇲🇫🇺🇸🇬🇧
That US air force guy who just admitted he didn't know what Brexit would do instead of trying to find a way to tow some sort of party line just earned my respect. Honest, humble and will still wipe the floor with you if ordered to.
The 'scenario' was the Russians attacking over the North Sea and how we would deal with it.
Of course it will be an unspecific enemy that comes from the east and happens to speak Russian but I want to know numbers, which planes are playing the enemy, results, tactic. All the stuff our airforces can't tell us.
If i was russia will fire few ICBMS
@@kunaalsharma1039 Putin isn't suicidal he won't use nukes for anything short of an invasion of the mother country. It's too likely to lead to the end of the world as we know it.

Genius 😂😂
Go UK 🇬🇧, France 🇫🇷, USA 🇺🇸!
Definitely joining the raf after uni
I wanted to as well but then I heard stories about it, so i'm going infantry.
Heard stories? Must have been extremely bad stories to make you choose infantry
I don’t know what I want to go in when I’m older Royal Navy, RAF , or army all have their pro’s
@@HMSDaring1 Well I wanted to fly jets and maybe even the F-35, but I talked to some people from RAF and they said that the RAF is extremely competitive and only the top of the top will ever get to fly F-35, all 30+ years of age. They actually said that the RAF chooses for you, I could want to be a fighter pilot but the RAF could place me in a transport Helicopter instead if they wanted.
@@majorhippo2772 You say that as though flying an AW101 or AH-64 is a bad thing, If you recieved training for either of these you would automatically become a group of some of the best helicopter aviators in the world, and civilian helicopter companies would jump at the chance to hire someone with military flight training and plenty of hours.
Brexit ?
The US is in the EU may be ?!
Britain isn’t leaving the earth or Europe just the organisation called the European Union
That is correct. And about damn time. Europe for the Europeans. Obviously.
@@Mmjk_12 Yes it is. And before that it was neanderthal. I'm genetically both. So what does that make me?
All amazing airframes but the F-15 is still my favorite.
I was reading a few of the comments and I noticed that some people were talking about how the F-15 looks so good, even though it is the oldest fighter. Well it is still one of the most capable 4th gen fighters but what makes the F-15 so deadly to other 4th gen fighters is it's powerful radar. The F-15 has better radar and than both the Rafale and Typhoon. I spent over 11 yrs in the US army, but my older brother is a F-15E pilot with the US air force.
The F-35 is just an awesome aircraft and it's capabilities are unmatched. The people who think the F-35 is a waste of money are usually civilians that don't know anything about the F-35 and military technology or warfare in general.
F35 is a very bad aircraft with faulty furtive cover that makes it have the radar signature of a boeing. ANd it costs twice the amount of the other 2
@Hagen van Tronje "cannot dogfight"
That's false, pilots have stated it's more maneuverable and it's done manouvers the F-16 could ever dream
"Not an interceptor"
>Yet still left red flag with a 20:1 kill to loss ratio
"Not very stealth"
>not even close
@Hagen van Tronje Yes I'm saying that because its true and former F-16 pilots and now F-35 pilots back it up, that "single engine"
F-16 has 16,610 lbf of thrust while the F-35 has 28,000lbf
The F-35 also has a lifting body, the stubby wings comment is useless as both the wings and body itself provide lift
@Hagen van Tronje If an enemy can lock onto the engine, the heat of it is the least of the problems
"Does not help with stealth"
The F-35 is still stealthy though, and current F-35 pilots detail how the F-35 performs better in basic fighter maneuvers then the F-16 in WVR combat
@Hagen van Tronje I'm comparing the F-35 to the aircraft it's replacing I don't see how it's age has anything to do with it as that's the entire point of a replacement
"Designed"
Okay and? Each variant the A/B/C were designed to meet each services requirements and every variant of the F-35 incorporates "stealth" or more realistically Low Observable aircraft design
unbelievable footage. Must have been a blast.
Pay close attention to those F-35's, you'll notice small "knobs" top and bottom toward the back of the aircraft (top ones are just forward of the vertical stabilizers). Those are special modules used to reflect more radar energy and reduce the F-35's actual stealthiness. Yes they make the F-35 easier to spot on radar. Their purpose is to keep the F-35's true combat radar signature secret from anyone who might be in the area and trying to scan the F-35 to measure its stealthiness. Yes the Brits might be willing to do some training with the French, but apparently they're still keeping their cards close to the chest! Obviously, during real combat the modules are removed...
It's not specially for the French, especially when UK and Belgium have buy it so... we see them everyday on radar.(UK and BE, not right now the F35).
But during that type of exercise you always have some "spy" around.
So always a little protection for that. It's the same for every critical equipment, even when the training is involved to only your troops.
R.B. Seiple pretty cool stuff
Well you never know who might be watching, right? Close allies we may be but of course we'd never tell each other *all* of the details.
@@wittyreviewer FR UK and US has a very good share on that point... Because they have a very good intel service and tools...
But of course, LM (or the US GVT) dont give to all allies all spec of every plane... no one do that...
@Hagen van Tronje that is completely fabricated.
I love seeing countries train together
The French Rafale is undoubtedly a most elegant design. USAF should really consider purchasing a squadron. If it looks right it flies right.
What a pathetic Brexit question. Why would we in the US care whether or not the UK is a member of the European Union? Why should an economic organization affect the alliances that are solidified through NATO? Is this ForcesTV or the BBC?
So glad Belgium is joining the F-35 club
Grrreat to the USAF , RAF and the French Air Force all working together especially on air to air refuelling and to send a very clear message to
any potentially hostile country who think they can get away with poking their noses into other countries' air space.
Guess which one will run out of fuel first whilst the others still have at least half a tank

Love the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight patch on the UK pilot.
The F-15 will always be the most beautiful jet imo.

Omg the rafale look so good, but the typhoon look like a chinese copy of the rafale lmao
I dont understand. The Rafale looks like a Typhoon with an fat face and the refuel pipe isn't ideal. Can you explain the appeal?
The Typhoon is very similar a chinese J10 ( LAVIR Israel original project sell to China)
Very advanced cockpit of RAFALE... The Typhoon cockpit is more conventional!
Excellent! Fast work for the RAF!!
I wished the F35s were modeled similarly to the F15 , although I know the main component of the F35 is stealth, the performance and design of the F15 is just mouth watering.
This is amazing formation, the tree hell menances...
Typhoons are so damn sexy.
Very nice to see the French participating in exercises again!
But not against the F35 :D
Congrats to Jez Attridge on getting his Air rank.
Rafales look just......fsckajbcsk;jcbsZXJKc
damn such a good looking machine
Love the Spit profile on the shoulder patch.
If the Americans would have brought their f22s and with the British f35s that would have been such a flex on the french
I am francophile as it gets but the Rafale is not better than the F-35 x)
In a strait dogfight? Maybe? I don't know the specific of each aircrafts, but I'd imagine than the F-35 being newer tech would be more nimble, or at least faster.
But the point is it would see the Rafale before the Rafale sees it. The Rafale would probably detect a missile launch, but at this point it would have shoot its weapons and go evasive.
HOWEVER regarding the F-22, let me remind you that a french Mirage 2000 pilot managed to get a 10 seconds missile lock on an F-22 during simulated combat ;)
In the end however, the question that we should really be asking is whether these aircrafts can outplay the S-300 and S-400 because that's the greatest threat they'll be facing in the decades to come. And since I have no idea how to guague the effectivness of an air defence system, that is a question i cannot begin to answer.
@Historical Icons Spectra sensors? First time heard of it. How do they work exactly?
And if the F-35 is obsolete ... how is the F-22 better? x)
I don't understand, weren't the two aircraft built with the same concern for steralth?
@Historical Icons wait I just googled, SPECTRA EW has nothing to do with detecting aircraft as I understand it. It's meant to detect weapon launched and pinpoint where from the weapon was launched, allowing for counter attack and couter measures.
You have me seriously confused friend.
Well the Rafale would definitely give the F-35 a run for its money in a dogfight.
@@geniemiki no, the spectra system detects many things, including infrared waves, radio frequencies and radar emissions, as well as missiles. It's also a radar jammer which is extremely effective. In fact its so effective that the rafale got banned from a military exercise because it was considered cheating or some BS. So yes the spectra is very relevant to this topic, I have no idea how effective it would be or if it would give the rafale a fair chance to face the new murican jets, however.
Great work guys!
Love seeing the 15's stretching their legs with the youngsters !
it's about time someone named a mission\exercise "Point Blank".
French Rafale
USA UK FRANCE BEST IN THE GAME!
This is the core any NATO force will be built around, got to see us exercising together. I want to know the scenario now though, they kept tantalising us about it.
David Houseman probably would be intercept training for Russia flying across the North Sea. Maybe saying that they set up SAM sites in Finland
@@charlesfisher3983 possibly, but the inclusion of SAMs that is problematic, I think Kaliningrad is closer than Finland but still a long way off the North Sea. Also they'd need refueling aircraft for fighters.
While France isn't part of NATO, these three have the most distinguished air forces and navies in the western hemisphere.
And while I'd guess it was mostly about interoperability, the scenario might be keeping the channel, North and Baltic seas safe for American reinforcements landing in German, Polish and Scandinavian harbors.

F-15 strike eagle 💜
At 0:42. A Rafale on the left of the screen, and an Eagle to the right. Size comparison is like a muscle car against a go-cart! No offence to the Rafale, it’s a beautiful machine....... but I didn’t know the size comparities till I saw them on screen side by side. I also noted later in the film the fact that the French pilots spoke English.... I wonder how many RAF/USAF pilots can speak French?
The early f35s are now bieng used as aggressors to simulate foreign low end 4.5- 5 gen fighters.

Thank you America for your F35. Please sell us your F22 now. Love from your brother in arms, Britain
I, an American, give you permission to buy the F-22. No need to thank me.
Export of the F-22 is forbidden by congress. No exceptions. F-22 incorporates America's most sensitive military technologies, and as such it is not for sale to *any* other nation
zelo zanimivo lep pozdrav iz slovenije Helena zidarič
School boy mode's on baby!
4th gen fighter pilots new to facing the F-35 in an adversarial role are too often astonished at how vulnerable, and easily defeated, they are. Many complain they never see or get "lock-on" to the F-35 until after being informed by their simulation instruments that they have been shot down.
The Eagle still looks rather formidable, benchmark of fighter jets.
F35 might well be a capable fighter but that F15 wins any beauty contest hands down....
F15 looking super cool. It has to be the best looking fighter ever
I am the greatest country
awesome video
Notice, the USAF bring the Eagle to the fight. 40 years on, it’s still the one. Man the Eagle is deadly. Man the Eagle is a bad donkey
Training is very important at the moment...
Well don👍
Hope it all works out for you.

I go out on a limb and say the Brits won the dog fights !!!
That F 35 gave ya'll a chubby didn't it!!!!!!!!!!
That moment the American looks at the Brit and realizes that the Brit has the better jet......
F15 is such a beauty
I'm thinking that F-15 was the Strike Eagle ground attack version. Its still probably nearly as good as a normal F-15 for air to air. Anybody who can launch an Sparrow or AMRAAM is probably going to do well in simulated combat. But in close range combat, then I would probably want the Rafale.
That Brexit question through me off for a second lol, wasn't necessary imo

The United States is not in the EU incase you weren't aware, and neither are Albania, Canada, Montenegro or Turkey yet they are in NATO
How long before Lakenheath's F-15s get replaces with F-35s ?... I know it's a very capable aircraft
which has undergone lots of upgrades, but they are about 40 yrs old now. The RAF don't have many
combat aircraft of that age still flying.
it dont make any sense flying stealth next to older planes as then it gives away position

The f35 looks great but it's a shame that the aircraft carriers are only getting 12 each instead of the full compliment they were designed for. Politics is always a dynamic in any military procurement.
HERE WE SEE THE REAL SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP AT WORK
I watched this video for the first time in the year of 2023.
I'm so glad that France was a part of this mission, so much bitterness and hard feelings over the Injustice after WWII.
I don't really blame anyone; but now we are faced with a global challenge by Putin and a Neo-Nazi regime that runs within Putin's Russia. I don't know what to really call it so that's the best way I can describe what I've witnessed in Ukraine
F15 looks nice
What the F has brexit got to do with us/uk air operations
The problem with this kind of expensive show of force is there are no aliens or russians on the opposite side and never will be.
Yeah, classified.
I’d take the F-15C over the F-35 no problem... maybe after a few decades of upgrades I’ll change my mind
During green flag 2017 the F-15's were pretty useless against the F-35's
what the hell has brexit got to do with nato what was she thinking?
So you asked someone from america, a country not in the EU, if a country not in the EU will be hard to do military operations with..........even though you just said America and the UK and france did successful military operations. That was a bit of a silly question
I wonder which jets were begging for fuel first...
The F-35 looks like an airliner compared to the F-15 and Typhoon. I'm really wondering the non-biased answer to how it actually flies?
The body of the jet itself works as a wing plus the enclosed weapons help.
See the radar signature difference between F35 and the Typhoon and F15, and you see what is a stealth plane about!!!☝🏻
We only miss Germany to have all the driving powers of the West on board
