I was just talking to my mom about her using cloth on my sister and myself. She used flower sacks and plastic pants. This was in the 90s and she is so happy she did it and said she wouldn't have done it any other way. She was a cloth baby as well in the 70s and her mom was a cloth baby in the 50s. Once our baby gets here im fully ready to full time cloth with these new diapers and i feel blessed to have the ones we have now idk how they did it with the little supply they had back in the day. And im so blessed to have a support team that has helpful tips from back in the day. I hope my child uses cloth on there child. ❤🖤💚💜💙💛

I'm a beginner cloth diaperer. And I was determined when my baby was born to cloth diaper at least most of the time. And my approach was more or less buy a whole bunch of different systems to find what works for me. Leaks? Ok, time to try a new fold. Poop explosions not contained well enough? Maybe try a different system. I've been taking the "if at first you don't succeed, try try again" approach. So far, so good.

@@JaysNest Thank you! This is my first baby of hopefully a few. We wanted to do cloth so we wouldn't always have to buy disposables for all of our kids. That's a lot of money, and we're not really in a place where we can afford that right now. And as an added bonus, it's better for the enviornment too.

I'm 8 and a half months pregnant with my first and fully prepared and confident for cloth diapering. However, I don't tell many people that I'm gonna cloth diaper, cause so far few people supported me in my decision, I even had people who told me not to do it. But I get that circumstances are different for everyone - for exemple, currently I have a whole room in my house that I use as a laundry room, so laundry never gets in the way which makes it soooo much easier for me, there's no clutter and I have a whole system that works perfectly. I can acknowledge that there are people who aren't as good at organizing, who maybe have ADHD so may find the whole thing overwhelming, who have smaller homes and less storage space so disposables are just more convenient, who only have one or two kids so they won't be diapering for long (I plan on having four so reusables just make sense to me). There is no "better" way to do things, there's only what works for you and that's okay. Having said that, I find it really annoying that people judge and discourage cloth diapering, cause I would never judge anyone for using disposables.

We just started cloth diapering on 10/6/21 my lady finally reached the 10 pound range so she could fit in her OS pockets. Both my husband and I love it! Jay, I found your channel when I was doing my research and just wanted to say thank you for your helpful insights & empowering me to know that I could do it! 💛

Fourth baby on the way and will be clothing this one too. Gonna be doing more flats to make it easier on myself this time. I HATE microfiber. I used a combo of microfiber and natural inserts in pockets with my other kids. This time I am opting for more covers, less pockets, and more flats and prefolds. I also built up my newborn stash way more

Im currently pregnant with twins and I looked into cloth diapers with my first child but never went through with it but I really want to try with the twins and save money , I really love the flats and pocket system but I don't think I can afford it so then I went to looking into flats and covers (really wish I could afford the pockets but 2 babies double the price of everything ! Lol)

It is cheaper in the long run and you can always buy preloaded and strip and sanitize or fast and covers are cheap.

I got all mine second hand from children’s thrift stores! Definitely check with them let them know your tight on cash and see if they’d call you when they get more in!!! It’s definitely worth it I spent like 1/4 of the cost. My local Once upon a child sells them in bags of 4-5 for like $6. I’m looking into better inserts but I have enough for now I just double up.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  2 роки тому

How many lbs is your babe? One size diapers are pretty big on babies at first. Usually 12ish lbs is the avg sweetspot for OS diapers fitting without being too bulky.
Absorbency & diaper systems can sometimes matter, too. Some are bulkier than others

I'm about to start cloth Diapering. I have started to use mercari because all of this got expensive quickly.
My questions unless you've already answered...
Can u take us to the beginning
How many did you start with?
What is your best suggestion for overnight I know u say not an aio?
Is it stupid to invest 26 in something like smart bottoms 2.0 for a new born?
I've watched a lot of your videos. Just looking for you to go back and explain tips from the very beginning of YOUR journey.
I want at least 55 in my stash but I also see the need for new born stash.
I'm about to go on maternity leave so I still need to save and be careful so if you only had $200 more to spend for newborn or general stash what would u do? Can u make a separate video about this.... Cloth Diapering stash:starting with only 200 or 350

I’m cloth diapering now about 80-90% of the time and I’m giving myself grace now that some days are 10% cloth and some days are 95%. Today is a 95% day and as frustrating as it has been, I’m allowing for “failure” and allowing myself to be okay with leaks. I’m using flour sacks towels on an almost 16 month old and sometimes they aren’t absorbent enough but that’s all I have. Sometimes, they bunch up weird and it leaks through the PUL. But she’s not dying, it’s just a little pee and a little more laundry. I’m sure if I stick with this, in only a few months, I’ll have so much more knowledge than I do now.
