Just going through your videos very entertaining. Going down the coast must have been fun on your own although it's been 6 years since this flight are you still flying these days ?
I know the guy with the Piper sport 7924 behind you. He's the Father in law of a good mate of mine. Enjoying your vids, Bruce seems like a great instructor. I'm keen to give flying a go where I am in Tassie :)
I know it's been up for awhile but did you figure out why the feedback for most the trip TX on radio? If 2nd headset plugged in ... was the mike folded up by the ears??? Push to talk and both headset mics go active and if mic up by the ears then ...Feedback squeal!!! In case it happens again!
Chris Heine I can't remember to be honest. Never came across the issue again but you might be onto something with the 2nd headset plugged in. Thanks :)
Romeo Juliet Whiskey just had something similar happen with me. I keep getting random transmissions over my radio but I am using a homemade antenna but only lately that it comes up with these transmissions. Have enjoyed watching your videos and process of instruction. I fly ultralight and have a blast.
Romeo Juliet Whiskey by the way what part of Australia is that airport? looks like an awesome place close to the water. kinda like where I live in Northern California
Ariel N I fly out of Wollongong, which is about 1 hour south of Sydney on the east coast of Australia. Great place to live and fly! Definately worth a visit and holiday if your over this way.
Romeo Juliet Whiskey I agree mate. One of my dreams drive one of those patriot series 79 land cruisers and drive around the northern territories. I have about 5 friends that live in Sydney.
Good job with first "get away". Makes the training all worthwhile eh? What software are you using to insert the stats of height etc. I used an old program ..now gone. Keep up the good work..even without Bruce! LOL
Thanks Biggles! I use my phone to record the GPS data and then upload that to a program called dashware by go-pro. Its a little awkward to use - and currently not working in windows 10. I don't think there really is an alternative though.
Just wondering did you make your base and final calls when you reviewed and edited the footage. Seemed very busy in the circuit so could be something to check when you edit on next flight.
Legally you don't have to make any radio calls in class G unless there is potential conflict. Base & final calls are therefore not always required ...although it is probably prudent to make a base call. I rarely make a final call unless there is potential conflict. In a busy class G airport its sometimes hard to get a word in when everyone is calling every leg of the circuit and not necessary [in my humble student opinion :)]
Romeo Juliet Whiskey yeah I got smashed on circuit calls doing my ppl at YWOL,including turning down wind. Just flying in my head while watching prob why I enquired. Great to see you out and about solo enjoy.
Not sure about the PPL. I'll definitely get an RPL (different to the RA-AUS RPC) because I want to get an aerobatic endorsement which is not possible with an RA-Aus licence. There is talk that Ra-aus licence holders will gain access to controlled airspace next year, which means there is not a lot of incentive to get a PPL anymore - unless you want to fly at night or take up more than one passenger. RA-aus is a lot cheaper too and have more modern aircraft available.

Not flying at the moment
Love the overlayed GS, ALT, TRK and GPS map, it adds lots of context to the video. Keep up the good work!
broadgates Thanks mate!

Rob Bowman I'd love to fly the pipersport. Looks like nice aircraft.
Bruce didn't sound too keen on them in a previous video, might have been the one where you did your first solo circuits.
Rob Bowman yeah I recall him saying something like that. They look nice though :)

Chris Heine thanks for the heads up mate. Glad to hear you enjoyed the vids too 😀
Awesome getting to watch you get experience in the different plane!!!
good and calm. always good to talk while doing checkups. its just easier to remind yourself
Ariel N yeah I find it helpful to talk out aloud, but it's also good for you guys watching to know what I'm doing or thinking

No nonsense videos, enjoying them indeed. Nice work dude!
Matt S Thanks mate!

I notice that you don’t give a radio call when turning final
Harold clark I do if I feel like it's necessary, otherwise just a base call to reduce radio clutter.
Great stuff mate, must be exciting to go up there all by yourself.
Steve A Yeah mate...awesome to be able to fly where you like...within reason 😀
I suppose it is a bit nerve racking not having the instructor with you?
Steve A It is...and that is why they send you out there by yourself. The excitement and thrill quickly overshadows any fear and anxiety though
That's good to hear mate, like watching the videos very much, all the best
Hi, just wondering how you put the airspeed, altitude, and direction on the bottom of your video.
Hi Rob, I record the GPS using geotracker on my phone, and then I use a free program called dashware to make guages and overlay them on the video.
Just wondering did you make your base and final calls when you reviewed and edited the footage. Seemed very busy in the circuit so could be something to check when you edit on next flight.

g l e n n Sorbello do you still fly out of YWOL?
Romeo Juliet Whiskey not since NSW Air went belly up. Haven't been down to see if anyone else is renting out of there now.
g l e n n Sorbello NSWair are still operating down at Wollongong
Will you get your private pilots licence one day?

go to minute 48:00 and look in the center glass display. do you see Thomas the train's face?
someonehasthisname Haha... if issuing really hard. I think it's my instructor keeping an eye on me
Sorry mate yes you did on second review
I thought I made a base call...usually do :)
