NOTE: I didn't mention it but the case with the graded cards and fossil packs above was from Hobby Lobby, no assembly required for that one! The Venusaur and Blastoise are the celebrations versions and Charizard is the Evolutions version in the frame because I had my original base set graded in the case above and didn't want to spend hundreds to get another copy of those cards!
Nice work on your frame. For mine I used builders chalk line to layout all the grids for each card line horizontally and vertically(paint brush removes chalk later) and rolls of double sided tape along the grid lines to attach the sleeves too. Starting from each corner of the sleeve attaching them down and pulling them somewhat tight to avoid and wrinkles, I got to say it turned out unreal.
I was just telling my wife i wanted to do something like this with my original base set, I knew someone out there would have some tips on youtube. Appreciate your work brother!
Funny how many of us are doing this, finishing up mine now, getting the cards pressed flat against the glass is my current issue. I used non-acidic double sided tape for the sleeves, very user friendly. Great video
As a fellow hobbyist that is very particular, Im surprised you went with such cheap penny sleeves. From my research, using the cheap penny sleeves gives off additional glare under recess-lights. Im planning to tackle this project soon. Main difference is I'll be using a JPN premium Pokemon sleeves + double sleeved with another JPN premium sleeves to go inside. You can even get sleeves with holo patterns. (Theres also an Etsy seller from EU that sells 2 of their custom frames to allow a Base set + like 6 extra slots for 500$.)
Yes very particular but somehow this doesn't bother me. I actually just went and checked to see if maybe there are glare issues and where I have them only the top row has that noticeable glare at the right angle while the rest are fine. But that is a good idea especially if you're in a brighter environment with them!
I'm planning on doing this soon. I'm about 8 holo cards from finishing the 151 ( avoiding online shopping. Only local stores). But I'm not sure how I feel about seeing the wrinkles of the soft sleeves under the glass. I wonder how this would work/look with the toploaders.
Interesting, I didn't even notice the wrinkles even with how picky I was! The only issue I see with doing this with top loaders is they're normally bigger in size than the sleeves that are closer to the card size so the resulting custom frame would be a bit larger in size and have a bigger gap between each card.
I did this project a few years ago following the same original guide. One thing I did was experiment with different sleeves to find the thickest I liked, making them less wrinkly. I also put garbage cards in while mounting the sleeves so the glue did not scrunch the sleeve when drying. There are still imperfections, but when you are a reasonable distance away (5+ feet) it's really hard to tell they are in sleeves at all.
Im not too familiar with frames. You said that the mat and frame are 46.5 x 34.25. Wouldn't they be different sizes since the frame is larger than the mat?
The mat would be 46.5 x 34.25. With the outside frame the whole thing would be larger than that. The size I gave is the surface size you need to fit all the cards in.
Looks great Zach! I still like Pokémon cards but I prefer Yugioh cards a bit more. I kind of like that aged look that Yugioh cards kind of have. I think, a year or 2 ago I bought the Egyptian god cards. I was like, I wanted these cards since I was 13 years old I am 31 I am buying them. Note: I know I missed the Resident Evil finale. Sorry I got tired and went to bed. Are you playing a new game this Thursday?
Your edges are way out!! Nah joking, it looks amazing, going to do this myself, thank you for the step by step process. GOing to do just the base set myself and see how it turns out. Great video!

Hey Dweebros, it turned out gorgeous! Dope project✌️👊
@@Kwepso. Thank you!

Good idea for the chalk line and pulling the sleeves down!

No prob, good luck!
Why not use 9 pockets and cut the extra fringe off?
Incredible video.

Good idea on the tape!
How did yours come out? about to frame mine and am not sure whether to use glue or tape for the sleeves.
@@brandonavila2180 use tape, for sure
Great job man those are so awesome and amazing keep up the great work ✌🏻
I’m a gengar card away from doing this exact thing. Although I was considering putting in pins of the first 8 badges as space filler
Good idea!
Lol Gengar was my last card I needed when I was a kid.

Don't use a protractor lol that's used for measuring angles

Really really really nice job!!
Super glue not an option? I'm about to finish my frame
The glue I got bonds to the plastic sleeve better, regular super glue may work but didn’t want to risk them falling off later on!

Are you playing a new game this Thursday?
That was Part 1 of the finale! We will be doing the Part 2 (the last one) of the finale this Thursday!
@@DweeBros See, I told you we couldn’t get the rest done in one session lol.
How big did you get the frame?
46.5" x 34.25"
@@DweeBros thank you so much
Where did you get the mat board from?
Hobby Lobby, they had different types I could choose from along with the custom frame.
Did you get UV resistant glass?
Not glass but it's plexi glass and yes it is UV resistant. Would not recommend regular glass for something this big if that is what you meant!
I'm very jealous

Great video!
Haha, you're welcome! Glad to help 👍If you're just doing base set I bet you can get away with just a standard frame vs having to custom make it.
