I was one of the camerapeople on that show, as well as shooting nearly every episode over 5 series of Scrapheap Challenge. I've never had so much fun in my professional life, despite getting very wet on quite a number of occasions.
Most deserving to win, Chaos Crew for their constant steady progress followed closely by the Barleys for sheer overdoing everything. Best personalities, Barleys, followed by the Megs with their girlie stabilisers, a al drag bike style. Most idealistic Godesses with no sense of realiity. Waste of space award for the Boat Boys. Thank you for the upload, not seen series this in years. Love scrapheap
I live in the US and found this as a recommended video but it's very entertaining. We had a few spinoffs similar to this series but never broken up into detailed episodes like this series. I think it's interesting, especially the Barley Pickers vehicle. The runaway diesel was a nice touch. We have BBC America here so we get to watch Top Gear (my favorite show of all time), Wheeler Dealers (another favorite), and a few others. Thanks for the upload!
This is MUCh better than the US's Junkyard Wars. That over-caffeinated, leather-pants-wearing twat of a host is one annoying douche. We just don't do UK shows here well at all. OK, The Office had its moments.
Thanks for posting, quality is fine - I just wanted to watch and 4OD is lacking when it comes to Scrapheap. I don't know what kind of quality people expect though from what is probably an SD VHS recording transferred and encoded then re-encoded again by UA-cam haha
+leatherworkstation i suspect this show was made long before hd tv came into existence, why are people complaining when the picture is actually clear/bright
if i had to start in that race, i would take an old unimog, rotten to the core, redecorate it and get some plug and play buoyancy and a plug and play prop at the rear PTO for rafting. Needs three weeks prep time and no SVA test. Also i don't understand the girls-team. they could have run it on ethanol with the orignal engine and invested the money in a proper rallye drivetrain with longer shocks and what so ever.
Girls team - wanted eco-friendly fuel and ethanol would give them serious problems unless the original fuel system was completely re-built with ethanol-compatible parts. this is not simple - or cheap. Not sure if it would be road-legal in the UK either.
I forgot how much of a Dick the captain of the boat buoys is. Brings back a lot of happy memories watching this program again. They need to do a new series with the same presenters
While I agree, it is something you would expect them to come up with. I don't think it's the case with modern tractors (I may be wrong) but old tractors filled the big rear wheels with water for this exact reason and being farmers it's something they would have a lot of experience with
when they talk about the back end sliding out with the taxis FWD system they are talking complete garbage, as long as you are not driving on a sealed road you are fine. on something wet like that you don't need the motors very similar and with gravel you need it more accurate but you can get away with it not being perfect this is because it is easier for the wheels to slip than to push out the back end. AHH!
The boat boys fucked this challenge up super hard. If the captain had listened to his crew and said ok we'll go your way, or the crew said all right we'll try to pull it off things would have been fine, but they chose to not work as a team and neither side compromised. Complete failure.
I recently discovered this again but it got me thinking, there were some memorable episodes and one featured a bucket wheel excavator but I can’t find it, any ideas which series or episode it was?
Why does nobody build a Baja bug? Jack up an old beetle, add mud tires and strip some weight out, maybe add a bigger carb. More of a desert vehicle but should still do pretty well with the light weight.
+americanmusclefan10K i was thinking baja bug from the start, but if the parts aren't there for them to use,it's not gonna happen which is a crying shame :(
+americanmusclefan10K Baja ute or (truck if you're American) would have been better, already jacked up, pretty much a roll cage on wheels and it looks way better than bugs because their just well... shit looking frankly
What do you mean they should have chosen a Subaru Impreza? They don't chose their vehicles. They're given a £1500 budget and then the rest they have to build from scrap.
TheJackelopeHD Um yeah they do choose their vehicles. like how the barley pickers went and hunted for a truck and the green goddesses wanted a bettle. they do very much choose their vehicles then they modify them.
Personally I'd have entered a k5 blazer with a lift kit, lost the speed challenge. No big deal, but I'd have owned the off-road, keeping it a contender for the next run. But here in rural Missouri you can find anything you want for them in every scrapyard around
no offense to the script writer of this show but they need to do their research 1: they said the off-road course would test a Sherman tanks off-road ability, a tank from ww2 because Shermans weren't terrible 2: they allso said it was a road going gunship. a gun ship is a helicopter.
Will Hardy not to mention that what I saw, that "offroad challenge" is more like an average American dirt road. Shit, my driveway is worse than that lol
The term "gunship" comes from the 19th century, and, astoundingly enough, originally referred to actual water going ships. (See also: gunboat) What was that about research?

Oh wow that must have been an awesome experience! Scrapheap Challenge is one of my favourite shows ever. Would love it if they brought it back.
🚑 ---- 👀 Nice work, Andy!
Any quality is better than nothing. Thanks for finding this!

There ought to be a museum of some sort for all the wonderful contraptions made during these series!.
abc ftw. I remember watching this as a kid. (when the Scrapheap Challenge anywayh) so good seeing it again. Thanks.
d wall Same
That tall guy "Robin" likes the host girl. As do I....She looks fun!
Thanks for posting this Simon! I love this kind of stuff!
Wow Nikki is a cute one!
The green goddesses did so well considering they have like 20 years less experience than any one else
Mind you the chaos crew are so far ahead of anyone else it doesn't even feel fair
Thank you for the nostalgic trip down memory lane si...I even had a
crush on Lisa 😁
Barley's have a bloody DIY Dakar truck lol
Andy and Harry are such good characters. I'd love to see them host their own scrapyard style show.
They dont give up them barley boys.
Yay the barley pickers!! im from devon too :)
I work with my grandad whos a farmer in šaukotas in lithuania, go barley pickers!
I’m a farmer too :) (in the U.S.)
technosnow I like them too
I'm not a farmer but I live in rural Wales and I like the Devon accent
I'm from Oklahoma. I live in the city. I seen a cow

Phil Saunders
it doesn't have to last engine life time. for the duration of the race it would have worked.
But it needs to be suitable for all 3 challenges, it would work for this challenge, but for the speed test they'd be fucked.
The girls team is some fake bullshit. Not one scene of them actually working on their car.
You sound like a good participant 😃.
I forgot how much of a Dick the captain of the boat buoys is. Brings back a lot of happy memories watching this program again.

That black cab is superb!
"It's sorted!"
"It's gripped!"
"LET'S OFF-ROAD!"
[Fast Show reference...]
Although this is old- I loved every second! Why can´t they make shows like this anymore?
"This car was not designed to be adjusted", says person under the back of a car literally designed with adjustable suspension.
I wonder how Andy Barnes and the farmers are doing with the pandemic. *Although it will a Proper Job :)
:) one of the greatest series around.
Filling the tires up with water is a genuinely genius idea

Jesus christ who pissed in the judges cornflakes?

Looking at the country side they are racing in....I kept expecting someone to roadkill a hobbit
I can't believe it's actually in 144p. It looks like 480p at the very least.
43:06 Lol, nice try bro!
Power of colours 😄.

Thanks so much for posting.
The theme tune isn't the same as the one on the "How clean is your house" series?!!!
43:07 he wanted a kiss so badly 😂
He was disappointed😂😂😂
#Lad
Yeah, it broke my heart 😂.
This is great fun!
Thanks for uploading.
