This was enormously popular on cable TV here in Serbia, it even inspired my friend to start working on some awkward vehicle she hopes to finish and register some day as her take on 1930s cars built from parts found in scrapyards. She's a trans woman with background in engineering and one of my favourite crazy neighbours. Her vehicular contraption started life as chasis of an old Dodge 3/4 ton pickup truck that she retrofitted Mercedes W124 engine into, grille and arched fenders from Yugoslav FAP 13 truck, steering wheel and column from a late 50s Opel Rekord, hood ornament from a Lincoln, hand made bonnet connected to the firewall of the same FAP 13 truck and windscreen frame from some crappy wedding car that imitates 1930s aesthetics. Seats are temporarily fitted from that Dodge truck as bench seats are impossible to find here. How it would look in the end and how on earth would it get registered I don't have a clue, but I can't wait to see "Scrappy Races Transgendercedes Benz" as she named it blasting down the road with air horns from shunting locomotive and her big schnauzer in the passenger seat....

The women had to be towed. They should be disqualified. It was a joke having them in the first place. NO2 lmao. Think of it as an oxygen magnet allowing more oxygen to be stuffed in making for a much bigger explosion. Like a blower without all the work and cost of a blower but can easily blow your engine. It does not sound like the guys installing it know at all how it actually works.

Barley pickers should have won that imo. Considering they had by far the heaviest contraption of the lot, im amazed they even got the thing to float, let alone move. I wonder where these contraptions ended up after the show. Some of them in and outside of this group have been spectacular

Id of bought some spare lorry parts from the lorry graveyard if i was the barleys this would cover all failure possibilities

Might of been a good idea to leave the tractor govenor alone .,they couldnt find lorry gearboxs or axles .but sourced a better engine 🤣

After watching the intro to the first episode I picked the Boat Buoys as my team of choice based on their flags/design once I found out who built what. Imagine my disappointment.

A hovercraft is the obvious solution to this challenge, but I assume the road legality is the real reason they're not allowed to do them. Hovercraft are great over just about all terrain types and the only thing they really struggle with are steep inclines. There is a certain amount of complexity to building the skirt for them, but if you get that right then the rest of the engineering is relatively simple, and even the engines on them are typically very simple
