This is the first season of The Sopranos to be filmed after the 9/11 attacks. The Quasimodo conversation being the way Sopranos chose to address the situation is epic comedy.

Janice and Ralph were watching Faces of Death, a popular vhs compilation video of people dying on camera from all sorts of causes (violence, nature, accidents, etc.). It got really popular on VHS because back in those days there wasn’t the internet to watch anything you wanted. It was hard to get (not all video rental stores had it) and it had a somewhat legendary reputation among adolescent boys (it was pretty bad ass if you happened to get your hands on a copy).

19:03 "She's so worried for Tony" - yeah maybe, partially for sure. But imo, she's more worried for her kids and for herself. More specifically, she's worried there won't be any money, and god forbid she'll have to work like Angie.

I love that final scene in 4x2 from a filmmaking perspective. It's two shots back and forth between Tony and Carm, and it gives the impression that they're right next to each other. And then it cuts to a wide shot of the bathroom and shows how far apart they are, speaks volumes.

Also you are quite correct, the tone shifts in season 4, due to multiple factors i think. 9/11, the constant criticism after season 1 was a hit and the show blew up, that Chase was making killer criminals too likeable amd funny, needing new places for the plot to go...
The Ade/FBI plot actually gives me agita tho. Ade grew up with her Uncle Rich in the mob. She's been with Chris a while. In real life, someone like her wouldve known that she didnt have to go with the FBI just bc they pull up amd ask. All she had to do was go home & tell Chris. She didnt tell Danielle anything that couldve been used against her and Chris, and the coke thing was a nothingburger. It didnt even seem to be that much, and Chris brought it in, not Ade. Even if they managed to pin posession and or intent to distribute on her, as a young woman with a clean record, she wouldve gotten probation and drug diversion. Maaayyyybe she wouldve got a year with 9 months suspended & had to do 3. And anyone can do 3 months in county.
It looks bad she brought Danielle to Tonys-but she didnt know. If she went home and told Chris, he wouldve been mad, yes... but no harm was done. She had NO reason to go with the feds.
Sorry about the rant but it drives me crazy. A real gangsters gf would know all that and not get scared by cops exxagerating a drug charge.
    ... or, y'know, so i've heard 🤷‍♀️💅😇
Anyhoodle. Buckle up, the 2nd jalf of the series is a rollercoaster :)

  • @Eaglesinthe732
    @Eaglesinthe732 11 днів тому +1

The first 2 episodes usually lay the groundwork for the themes of the season. The show is really a series of conflicts we see through various aspects of Tony’s life. In S1, it was with his mother and surrogate father (uncle Jun) thus we see Tony as a child. S2, it was with his sister and surrogate brother(Pussy) and we see Tony as a brother. In S3, it was with Meadow and we see Tony as a father. I won’t spoil S4 but you’ve seen very distinct and intense “conversations” Tony has in these 2 episodes, even one that happens in the S3 finale. I think S4 is one of my favorites even though for personal reasons it’s hard to watch(specifically the finale)

They're all bad people - something the creator keeps trying to remind us - but Bobby is probably the best of them. The only one never unfaithful to his wife, a caring father, generally a kind man. At this point in the series, I'm fairly sure he hasn't even physically harmed anyone (and wouldn't do so unless ordered, unlike a lot of these guys)

They all need clean income to keep the IRS at bay. In case you haven't already figured it out:

No work = Exempt from working, but needs to be there for appearances

    • @yourlifeisagreatstory

Right, it also revolves around making money off those positions. So a Capo makes money from those paychecks and his guys have a way to “prove” income come tax time. A number of guys are required to be there on site for inspections because of union contracts/rules and business regulations.

Christy! You have to try a fluffernutter! Theyre heavenly!
You can only use Fluff brand marahmallow creme tho, anything else is trash. Idk if they have it in Fla but u can find it online.
Spread one slice of bread with peanut butter, the other with fluff. You want about a 60/40 Fluff/pb ratio. Slap them togerher & youve got a fluffernutter! You could eat one while u do the next Sopranos ep 😇 so we can get your reaction 😎
Its a New Egland thing mostly. I like mine with the bread toasted, but if u do that, let the bread cool or itll melt the fluff & you'll have a mess.
