Kudos to Gfriend for performing this classic first generation kpop song. The reason why ppl dislike is because it doesnt suit the music of current generation. But to the koreans, it's Gfriend gift to them for reminiscing the 90s. That's why Koreans love Gfriend so much for their absolute covers and their ability to portray that classic innocent image that many actually missed from the past.
This cover is much better than other girl groups who cover this song i just finished watching other covers. . I mean the mix of powerful and cute is a perfect combination. The voices really suit to the vibes of the song. You may think that they own this song.
I think the vibe of the song also suits Gfriend. I’d say TWICE might also do a cover of this but I don’t think their vocals are as nice.

Every one of girls excels but Umji and Yerin really owned this, from Umji's opening (0:33) directly followed by Yerin's aegyo reaction (0:47) , then Yerin's first vocal w/power-windup to the fingerheart (1:02) , then Umji and Yerin together (1:59) , then Yerin's aegyo pout (2:29), and finally to Umji turning and pointing at the camera (3:14). The butt waggle (2:10) and the kickline (2:36) are just icing on the cake.
Gfriend should cover more of these first gens, they seem to be the only ones that can give them justice consistently.

Maybe this is also one of the reason why no one can sing their song as good as them well yes maybe it goes for almost every artist but for Gfriend's song even if you changed it into a different genre and no matter how good people cover it Gfriend ver still stands out so much and remains unique
