Steve's life was organized around a strict schedule. Planning helped him keep up with everything and perhaps even achieve such great heights in business. He woke up early, went to the gym, attended pre-scheduled meetings in the office, and met with business partners. Even his dates with his fiancée Rina were held on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and occasionally on Thursdays, until she moved in with him. In general, everything in Steve's life fit into the lines of his journal, succumbing to its rhythm and making his life rich and organized at the same time.
But none of the pages of his expensive leather-bound diary said that Steve would break away from an important meeting to bury his younger sister he had loved infinitely. Steve stared out the airplane window, not really noticing the cotton candy-like clouds. His thoughts were far from the cabin of the airplane, which was flying to his hometown.
They were taking him back in time. How long had he been away from his homeland? Two years, he thought. But he had no warm feelings about the place. The only thing that brought him back year after year was grief.
First, he had quarreled with his parents when he was still a boy. They dreamed of making a dentist out of their son, but he wasn't going to pull someone's fillings, not even for a lot of money. Besides, Steve just hated his town. Maybe for some people it was a beautiful place, but he hated everything about it, its nauseating routine, its grayness and its quiet streetcars.
He longed in body and soul for the metropolis, for a place where he could realize his potential. Of course, his parents were afraid to let their son out of the nest at the age of eighteen.
But Steve just packed his things, left a note, and left to build a career. He settled at a friend's place, started working part-time, and made peace with his parents after a year. But they still could not accept their son's choice and could not forgive his escape.
Fortunately, Steve made the right decision. He had a gift for understanding cars and also had a business vein that inexplicably manifested in his character. He deftly made the correct connections and, in four years, secured sponsor support to build his own company-more precisely, a specialized store selling automotive parts, components, and consumables for cars of any brand.
Then the business began to grow like yeast. One auto parts store turned into two, then into three, and then into eight. Car service stations and gas stations opened under the brand. Recently, he even started organizing races for drift fans and exhibitions of tuned cars, considering it the best advertising for his network of stores.
But behind all the turmoil of business, he forgot about his family. As soon as Steve became successful, he faithfully helped his parents. He sent them money, called them on holidays, and invited them to his house. But they just waved him off. Once he dragged them and his sister to his city, but they did not like the turmoil of the city, which resembled a beehive.
