Emeie is not begging for money, she's demanding money. There is a big difference.
Also , you're doing all the housework, taking care of mom, and working. Your father has no right to demand that you pay him anything. Basically he should be paying you.

What does it mean when the father and sister Emory accuse the main character of being a "neat?" At the end of the story, the father and Emory are called "neats."

Crimes against the elderly here in Texas can be just as bad as when you have a crime against a child. It's so pathetic to abuse the elderly that can't fend for themselves. Sometimes the elderly are duped out of their money and other property. All of us get older and will need help. How can we expect the younger ones to take care of us if they see you mistreat your elders. Of course they wanted the old man to pay for it all. It's good he had a counselor to help him take care of his assets. Just because he has debt doesn't mean he doesn't have assets beyond that. Sometimes people's investments are insured. Sometimes property is signed over to somewhere else but there are stipulations to that properties ownership. He whom laughs first laughs last. Good thing they showed their true colors and acted like that before it was all done.
