Dodge teaming up with Cummins back in the 80’s was probably the best automotive decision ever made. My Dad’s first heavy duty truck was a 1992 Ram 3500 extended cab manual transmission. Hard to believe but he bought it brand new for just under $21,000. We put 500,000 miles on it before selling it to a farmer. Unfortunately rust was a bad problem back then. The engine never missed a beat. 5000 mile oil changes with Shell Rotella T and she was happy

I often wonder how long it will be before one of the big automotive manufactures teams up with one of the big name off road heavy industrial/mining hybrid electric drivetrain giants to come out with a bullet proof yet still low cost EV or hybrid that's actually simple and cost effective to own and operate?
$21k in 1992 is 38k in 2019 dollars. Still seems like great deal to me. I like those old Dodges.
I just bought a 92 w250 club cab Cummins with getrag 5 speed, all stock, farmer in Tennessee had it, took care of it and I now daily drive it in Florida. Drove fine from Tennessee to Kentucky then back down to Florida in 2 days. Best motor ever

UPstater5.9 you are absolutely right. What they don't show you is what it took to get this beast. Alot of high hp diesels dont last very long. It takes a crew that really knows how to get one one of these running right to make one run as well as this one.

i may have missed something when the camera guy was talking to the driver of the dodge..stated truck is still weight at 6,000lbs? was it weight for the class or trying to state the truck was still at factory weight? even though engine bay,cab,door pannels, and bed were trimmed and gutted out to reduce weight?
he might be stretching the numbers, but there is a lot of extras you dont see. full roll cage, big turbos, piping, etc

Lifting a truck is fine as long as you actually off road it. The whole mall crawler thing is stupid.
As someone who has had several off road vehicles including trucks and SUVs, I can tell you trucks are very capable if you build them right.
As far as lifts on being aesthetic that’s just not true. More ground clearance gets you over bigger rocks and thru deeper mud. That said if you over do it you will have problems hitting low branches.

That Cummins CAN hit under 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Just requires a bit more tuning. Nonetheless, that truck is awesome.

i would think the compression ratio will have to be quite low, and might actually be so low that it would need compressed air to be able to get the heat of compression to start.

I do buy and have been buying for over 10 years .Although I do own a Cummins,I also own 3 other Dodge Ram with a 5.9 Magnum V8, a 8.0 Magnum V10 and a 5.7 HEMI V8 . They are all GREAT ENGINES.

I know the guys who build that truck they build my 6.0 for me a long time ago! Rode in re truck before everyone knew about it and have vids of it when it was stock weight
No practical but looks fun as he'll!
as for the 6000 pounds I have nearly the same truck but stock it weighs about 7500 pounds. bolt on oversized turbos a high capacity radiator and extra coolant because you will need it when you make that much power. Need up both drive shafts that are attached to the heavy duty front and rear axles and toss some plastic and tin. I think they did good to get the weight down to 6000.

de-stroked 6.7 Cummins? that's a first I've always seen stroked out 6.7s. is that so he can run higher psi? or better compression?
D-stroked is a builder.
And high performance diesels actually don't increase compression. They reduce compression on modified diesels to be able to cram more air and fuel into the cylinder.
+jfdb59 did u watch the 2014 diesel power challenge. the guy that had biggest hp on dyno n one of the fastest 1/4 mile had a stroked 6.7... de-stroked 6.7? what's the benefit of that compared to just doing a 5.9?
Eliud Fernandez De-stroked or d-stroked, not quite sure, is a builder. I think they got their start doing power stroke to cummins swaps. Hence the name de-stroked. But now they must build and race cummins too.
De-stroked, aka shorter stroke. Possibly a 5.9 crank, creating a 6.4

+Doug Pullins the long block alone, no accessories, just valve cover to pan, is 1146 pounds by itself. It's also still a full frame truck.
