  • In this video we take an in depth look at the various basic maintenance procedures of a Becker Dry Vane Rotary Vacuum Pump. Our vacuum pumps are primarily used in the application of a flat table CNC Router like the Techno or Anderson America Fanuc controlled CNC Router seen in this video.
    Specifically we are showing the Becker VTLF 250 which is now known as the VTLF 2.250. However, may of the Becker Vacuum Pump models in the VTLF series will have similar maintenance procedures such as the VTLF 2.200, 2.250, 2.250 SK, 2.400, and the 2.500.
    However check with Becker and consult your owners manual with any questions or concerns.
    In this video we check the primary and secondary filters. We show you how to easily perform the light test to tell if the filter is clogged. We also show the detailed procedure for removing and measuring the carbon vanes inside the vacuum pump.

    Great stuff! I hava a question...
    I have a pump that goes through vanes every 2-3 months due to blades exploding. I changed again this week and keep seeing grooves warn into them. I always clean it before installation and on occasion have had to get some caked on carbon off the inside of the pump.
    Why do they keep breaking?

      Using any coolant mist for cutting aluminum? That will eat up vanes very quickly. How is your filter going to the pump? Clean?

    Nice video! about greasing, The recommendation says the pump should be greased every 3,000 hours, but I've seen others doing it every month. What could happen if it was over-greased?

      You could check with Becker but I believe too much of a good thing can be harmful. The grease would need to go somewhere.
      I've seen failures from greasing too much but they also ran out of the Becker specific grease then starting using off the shelf stuff and they were greasing constantly. (Not informed)

    Wonder if you would notice suction loss if it was wired wrong and spinning wrong direction,,

      It has a definite sound when it's going wrong way plus it tends to blow air out instead of producing a vacuum.
      I know in dust collector motors it's a little different. First the sound is almost identical so you can't tell unless you're looking at the arrows.
      I've come across it more than once where the suction of wood chips seems completely inadequate and upon closer inspection the motor was spinning the fan blades the wrong direction. In those cases there was still suction just very little.

    Curious what pressure you use when blowing dust out of these filters? Thanks.

      @protechmachinery1  Рік тому

      no real measurement taking place on air gun trigger squeeze. I don't recall using full pressure. IF you damage the filter you'll just need to replace. Sorry I can't provide a more specific answer.

    Shouldn’t that second filter be on inlet pipe? Thats where i have mine installed, the inlet where relief valve is

    • @protechmachinery1
      @protechmachinery1  Рік тому

      Right above the built in filter is the secondary filter which is where the inlet pipe is.

      @@protechmachinery1 what about where relase valve is ,, is one needed there also ? Thank you for reply

      Maybe you're referring to the screw in cyclonic lifetime filter. Those are great and definitely recommended in dusty applications. I'll do a video on those next! Thanks.

    What is the minimum width (mm) that a vane can be? Sorry, maybe I missed that.

      Each model may be slightly different but should be listed in the manual that came with the pump. Let me know if you want the spec for this VTLF 2.25 and I can post it here!
