I think if given a better script and they focused the Joker on who he really was, that Leto may have been a great Joker. For that exact reason. People didn't get enough time to connect with the character so they couldn't like him. Also playing the Joker comes with such high stakes especially when the last Live action Joker was Heath Ledger who was obviously the best Joker (Although Joaquin might have taken his place). He didn't have enough time to make his character and that's why it was dry.

Maybe coz Suicide Squad movie didn't know what to do with The Joker. Also The Joker didn't add much to the plot or main story except that he exists in it. I love this version of the Joker, he's crazy and unpredictable and pretty frightening. Yah his look is different than the tv shows but I like the look. It's more modern kind of Joker, Leto did an amazing job playing the version the writers wrote for him. God, if anything it's the writer's that made the Joker crap, not Leto. He's amazing and I love his acting, I love his version of the Joker.

I understand what Leto was trying to do here. Honestly, he did his best with what he was given. That look though, was ridiculous. The Joker doesn't care about money. He doesn't need bling. He's the antithesis of those things. The tattoos? Not necessary. They tried to make a Joker that was everything that he actually wasn't. Focused on material objects and "things". I think if given a better script and they focused the Joker on who he really was, that Leto may have been a great Joker. I feel bad that he was really excited for the role, but the script and look of the Joker given to him, wasn't fantastic.

For that exact reason. People didn't get enough time to connect with the character so they couldn't like him. Also playing the Joker comes with such high stakes especially when the last Live action Joker was Heath Ledger who was obviously the best Joker (Although Joaquin might have taken his place). He didn't have enough time to make his character and that's why it was dry.

I feel like there was a lot of potential in this kind of modern era gangster take on the joker, but for some reason it missed the mark.
bad script, hollow vision. the project which was not about the joker was in no way going to accomplish anything either. plus jared leto got only 10mins of screentime so what there was never a mark to hit
