Professor Campbell always brilliant and witty in his lectures. I read all his books I could find here in Italy: he is such a gift for all humanity!
which books do you recommend most?
@@evanmotions of course "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" (if you haven't already read it), "The inner reaches of outer space", and "Myths to live by". You don't need to buy them, you will easily find them in most libraries.
Some of his other books are more "scholar-oriented".
Even in the Tarot the strength card has the woman holding the lion's mouth open. Even if you were to interpret the lion here as the masculine, the feminine is the stabilizing force, holding the jaws open, overcoming even the strength of the lion.
This feels very similar to the mother goddess with the child on her knee, as Joseph Campbell describes it.
I've always wondered if Strength is a feminine re-imagination of the masculine-power-fantasy-esque Biblical tale of Samson, whose domination of the lion ended more gruesomely

The mane of an adult male lion definitely lends itself to images of a shining sun, but packs of lions are very matriarchal and mostly nocturnal. The idea of the mother as the throne of the king is interesting, but the Potnia Theron icons of the Near East show the mother herself on a throne of lions. I think the symbol of the lion is best used representing the balance of the masculine and the feminine.
Surprisingly Joe doesn't mention India and Hinduism. In Hinduism, the goddess Durga, who is a warrior goddess, has the lion as her vehicle. Lions always represent Durga in Hinduism.

Greetings, I have not watched a video of you yet, but your books have been part of my Life for 25 years. I used to do yearlies for people back when we didn't have a computer at home, for $20, and I was right. I think you'd find my life interesting and informative because I am a Jack of clubs, now with another Jack of clubs, born the same day, same hospital, same room.Our mother's are friends again I am the empath, traveled, educated, girl, he is the crass carpenter, opposites, yet the same. We have the same little quirks, he says things right after I've thought them, we stand the same etc. I was away from him, my first kiss at 3, until we were 47. Three years of crazy I've been through with him, my mirror, my other half of my soul probably, and it isn't just the sun, the times. Etc. It's weird. I have held on to the bday and live cards books through...13 moves. I'd love to have some deeper insight to my situation. I'm broke by choice the last few years bc I refuse the public education system, and he's seriously testing every bit of good and logic in me. I know I'm supposed to be here with him and my mom in these predicted crazy times, but it's bizzare being in love with someone unconditionally, feeling they really are your other half.

Then the Bronze Age was a matriarchy, then the patriarchy rolled in and flipped what was feminine to masculine? If so, this explains a lot for me.
I would love the feminine to be lion not only in general life but inn the bed toom no offence meant, and the weak man is to be tamed and only a Lion can be metaphorically.
