As a Mexican, I can tell you that this song might be the greatest rock ballad in the history of our music, and believe me, there are a ton of dramatic pieces in my language.

@@10iggie it’s a valid point, and believe me, I love the warning as much as he does, but they’re neither the greatest band in the world, nor this is the greatest song ever written. Saying so sounds more like arrogance, not reality. That said, and because their songwriting skills are top notch, I do believe the girls have the potential to become one of the greatest bands on earth, but they’re not there yet. Only time will tell.

These sisters have a tightness as a unit that takes bands years to achieve, if ever. I’m convinced you could wake them from a sound sleep, plug in and they’d be in perfect synch.
The lead and backup vocals are so ethereal on this song. These ladies are so talented and are going to be blessing us with great music for years to come. Isn't it amazing that they are writing such profound lyrics at such a young age?

Wave, I wouldn't worry about the Muse references. Now that they have fulfilled that dream, and have literally seen them get so pump to have opened for them, it is only fair to recognize that influence. This song has such an epic, stadium anthem quality to it. Thanks for coming back to The Warning.
Narcisista was their first song in Spanish, which I'm surprised you did'nt know about. Especially because Ryan Mear reacted to it about a month ago (and loved it). It was written as a rebuke to those who criticised them for writing in English. Good reaction all the same. ❤✌🤘

Hey Wave! Yes, Spanish is their first language. Martirio is their second song in Spanish. The first was Narcisista. Fun Fact: Narcisista is the only original song by The Warning that is not on their EPs or Albums. (pretty sure about that. haha)
Martirio is a very powerful song, indeed. Jason Flom, CEO of Lava Records was remarking about How huge their following was, as an Independent band, and he said, "It's because their music really touches people." He also remarked after seeing them for the first time at Mercury Lounge in NYC, "I have been to the Mercury Lounge too many times (to see many bands that wanted to be signed, I infer). So I went, .... and, my head exploded." This from a man that has been in music business for decades and ran some of the biggest record labels. Opening for Muse was just another feather in their cap. The sky is the limit for them.

My first Warning experience was watching their TedX performance and they impressed me with not only their musical talent but their amazing spoken words. I must say they continue to impress me everyday with their talent and the way they treat their fans is the same way they treat their family. Nothing but love and respect ever comes from these incredible ladies. These ladies are role models for all of us.

The Warning already have plenty of studio experience. I imagine that the Sirius environment triggers their more serious studio demeanour instead of the more extroverted stage demeanour. Pro musicians at work. This song is epic live.

Check out the video they released a couple of weeks ago. On Aug 29th they did a show in Mexico city that meant a lot to them. They had some special guests and things. They hired a Pro team to film it. It was given to top level patreons on Dec 24th. They have slowly released it to other patreons since. The first song was released on their youtube site a couple weeks ago. 21 more to go.

From what I've read or heard. Fun fact: when Dany first recorded the lyrics, Pau said "Noo". She said that when Dany sang it in Spanish, her Spanish was sung with an English accent. (Dany, agreed) re-recorded them. Also in "Narsisita" their mother helped them change the Spanish words to one's that made more since when translated into English.
They speak fluent Spanish (native language), but they went to an English speaking Catholic private shool. Where they also were taught French (OK, they had French). [ Don't use it loose it]. Song "AMOUR"?????

Spanish is their first language. This is their third song performed in Spanish, their first being a cover. Be aware, this is a recording session, not a concert performance (in reference to the videography). Fun fact: They have covered two Muse songs, ""Hysteria" and "Resistance".

In their first show opening for MUSE in their hometown of Monterrey on the First song "Z" Ale Was moving backwards and she Fell on her Butt but she didn't stop Playing she just stopped playing for a second or two when she got Up and the Audience Cheered for Her when she got Up.
I have no idea what the lyrics are, I have no spanish, but I get the emotion. And that is precisely why The Warning are so great.

When Dany's headphones fell off (I think she shook them off but not sure if on purpose?), all I was thinking is .. OH CRAP, I HOPE THEY HAVE SOME AUDIO IN THE ROOM.. cuz how's she supposed to play her outro guitar solo if she can't hear anything including her guitar. But then I remembered.... worst case, even if she's inside a soundproof cage, you can ALWAYS hear Pau. drumming, screaming, just talking... she is loud. So all good there... LoL

Agree with seeing the finger work on fretboards - I have become fascinated with the way Ale will be holding a particular note, but her hand is already moving to the next pattern - it is like watching an agile spider moving and is encouraging me to practice my guitar again (watching a bass is getting me to practice more on guitar...)

Not their first Spanish language song. In 2019 they released Narcisista as a reply to the critics who said they were cultural traitors for doing songs only in English. It was first played at Foro Didi in Monterrey, MX in the middle of 2019. That song was never on an album - released as a single only.
Your comment about the videography is so true. I work in film and animation and I can see what you mean. It's interesting that if the video team that shot this is in house at Sirius XM, it is a music driven company after all and they could've added a little more life to the shots. Although, come to think of it, they are probably using a live switcher between cameras without the luxury of post editing. 😊

Love this, not many bands can achieve that exceptional sound for a radio mix, let alone at such a young age. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the songs from the Sirius sessions were 1 take 👍
As for the videography being a bit lame, accuracy is way more important for a radio mix.
In lots of these radio segments they do they appear to put on/ take off the headphones at various points. They probably don’t have as much time to get everything perfect with the limited time they have.
I prefer panned out shots as well. I like watching the finger work and drumming. An overhead drum cam would have been great.

This song is an absolute anthem. Beautiful, haunting, and dark...but then Dany comes in with the soaring vocals as Pau and Ale do the gang vocals near the end and it becomes completely up lifting...as if angels are singing and crying out. The entire Error album is filled with internal struggle, whether it be emotional, spiritual, or moral. They have always had an amazing gift of writing with such profound empathy but in interviews they have said that the Error album is much more personal and they are, at times, drawing from personal experience much more. Glad you're going to delve back into The Warning. They did a really great behind the scenes 6 part documentary series, "Mayday in the Making" that I think you'd find very informative. Great point on the static nature of the video production. I would guess these are all fixed mounted PTZ cameras in the studio. The video may have been mixed live with no rehearsal for the video production team. With that said, it is pretty lame video production by Sirius, with even the guitar solo at the end be largely off camera, LOL.

I don't know from Muse, but to me this song has the guts of an Iron Maiden tune. I don't usually think of many male comparisons to Dany's voice, I could easily hear Bruce singing this song.

The translation from spanish to english seems to be difficult sometimes i guess. "Tu Es Destino, entragate" is translated in "It's your destiny, surrender" ... I think it should be "It's your destiny, face it!" - makes much more sense and would much more fit to the vibe the music is transporting - I'm pretty sure that is what they've meant when writing it... Also the original video to that song makes perfect sense that way - it's about the balance between the bright and the dark parts of your life and that you have to be the one who has to accept the dark sides and to fight for the bright ones. In the end it isn't at all about surrender - it's about the struggle and never to surrender at any cost...
I tried to find the video where I heard The Warning mention a little more about meaning of Martirio but I could not find it. As best as I remember them Dany or Pau saying it's more about someone that makes themselves to be the marter, I believe it should have some kind of sarcasm indicator. I believe I found some verification in the song's own lyrics, at 8:13 on this video the lyrics are:

The only thing this band lacks is the number of ears listening. Other than that, they have the total package.

This is a video though.. 😂 I didn’t say it needed anything different. It just makes me appreciate live music videographers more.
There are a couple things happening in this performance. Primarily, they were on tour and saving their energy for the next show. They do this often in sound checks and you can see the same in behind the scenes videos while they're in recording sessions. They dial it to level 11 for shows.
As to the video, they are obviously fixed camera positions within the studio. I doubt they had a true director actually calling the shot. Just jump cuts to static cameras and the camera doesn't add energy. Trying to artificially create it doesn't feel authentic.
In the end, it's about the music. Sit back, relax and listen.
If you really want to see Dany working the finger board there are some shots during her solo where you can see the reflection in the drum cage glass.
@@mt4design2 I generally agree with everything you said. Especially, I thought this was a great performance of the music, and the video didn’t get in the way, as so often happens. The song was excellent, the performance was excellent, the sound was great, and the video was clear and did not get in the way or show closeups of Ale’s shoe while Dany was performing backflips while on fire.

I enjoyed this reaction a lot as always, but I can't help but disagree with a lot of it, especially your complaint that the video has "no energy". I personally am sick to death of videographers inserting themselves into performances with a ton of cutting out, shaking and screwing around with the visuals instead of recording it and getting out of the band's way. The band is supplying the energy, and we want to see them do it, not watch a videographer show what tricks he's learned. The video for Choke was a horrible example of this, where the director literally had an an actress swimming around underwater for as much screen time as any of the band members. Also, right after you mentioned that there weren't enough wide shots or shots showing fret boards, there was a wide shot followed by a shot of Ale's fingers on her fret board. I thought the sound and the visuals were refreshingly straightforward and were excellent. I am pretty sure Dany's headphones were starting to fall off from the intensity of her head moving while hitting her high notes, so she shook them off at the end. I hate to mention it, but the extended Muse commercial was a little off putting as well as the giggling over Dany's facial expression on this serious performance and lyrics. Overall, I love your reactions, though, and this was good.

PS - I'm not a musician. My instrument that I learned in my younger days was an out of tune Kazoo. So I admire young kids in bands like *The Toxic Cats* (When I'm Alone) & *Buzzkill* (Evolve & a much better live scream than Pau's) & even *The Three Triggers* (multiple Warning songs) out there playing real instruments & singing Warning songs to an live audience cause they love those songs & The Warning. Those kids I'll listen to before Potter.
