I agree 100% about Sterling, I think a lot of the frustration with him came from his inconsistent dribbling and being selfish at times. However, we might be surprised by him in a system where his only job is to take on isolated defenders and play cutbacks or arrive at the far post for tap ins. The automatisms in Maresca’s system might benefit him.

I have actually gotten quite excited at the idea of signing Alvarez. Especially since he might be available for "only" £70mil. Would be a bummer if we were to sign Sesko instead. Alvarez is at least a clear upgrade on Jackson while Sesko would be a ~£40mil backup to Jackson. Neither are my preferred option but we have a lot of unproven young talented STs at the club already and Sesko would just be another one of the bunch. Alvarez is talented and still young but at least he's a lot more proven than Sesko or anybody we already have. I'm sticking with my opinion on Kepa almost being perfect for Maresca and I'd be very happy for him to be our starting keeper for at least one more season.
