I go to a cancer appt each month and I notice most chemo patients carry a bag of stuff as they will be there for awhile. This would fit the bill to take socks, fleece lap cover, sweater, tablet, earbuds, water bottle etc. Sometimes backpacks put pressure on the wrong spot or are too hard to manipulate...a bag like this in a beautiful color or design...perfect. Make one, donate one. What a lovely gift! Thank you...glad I found your channel.
You could sew velcro to be able to close it if needed. Or a button with a scrap material rolled or a tiny strap to hook around the button. I think it would be a great bag for a baby bottle diaper wipes for a quick trip to the store. What about a bag for a change of clothes for the park or toddler or child activity.
I'm 77 and have sewn like this for YEARS... I sew every day in retirement and wish that more people would find the joy and peace that can come with crafting and quilting... TY for bring this to the foreground... I hope more young people find this and realize that "perfect" does not exist! Just have fun and grown with it!
Hi, just found your channel and enjoyed you so much! Love your bag, I’m on a bag kick😂 right now. So I’m going to DH to buy some dish drying mats and get started! Thanks
Thank you Barbara, I have wanted to sew for years but had no time as was working 5-6 days. Took a year off work and starting to sew but fond it intimidating. But will keep doing baby steps😊
For the last nearly 10 years I've been severely disabled can barely walk or do anything anymore I'm just turned 43 I think if I hadn't had crafting and my kids I wud have give so ages ago I crochet do card crafting jewellery and started sewing aug 2023
I have made 3 of these bags this weekend. My friends are loving them. Each one I added something different to it… this has brought me sew much joy. My husband said I have not seen you sew this much. I showed him your UA-cam page and said That’s my Girl! She got me started sewing again! Thank you Chelsea!
Please more easy sew along, real time with talking about exactly what you are doing!!! This is so helpful and not many people make these!!! I’ll tell everyone to watch!!!
I’ve never commented on a video before but I just wanted to tell you that you are a natural teacher. I usually fast forward through videos and this time I watched the entire video. Great job!
I am new to your channel and happy to have found it. I have sewn for almost 50 years. I love your commentary as you sew. The information about needles and stitch length is seldom mentioned but can make such a difference in the end product. Another economical fabric source is old sheets or pillow cases for lining. Thanks for your time and willingness to share. If you are new to sewing or have been sewing for years, you can always learn new techniques and tips.😊
34:19 same here!! I don’t usually watch all the video but after spending the last little bit learning how to make the bag, I feel like I’ve had an afternoon visit with a good friend!! You’re a natural teacher! So pleasant! Perfect remarks! Thank you-also, I stated keeping bees a few years ago (which I love!), so as it happens, the bag you made caught my attention!
Recently found your Chanel. Sooo enjoy it. Have you made any videos making bass similar to Vera Bradley bags, with lots of pockets? I love organizing items I carry with me.....OCD me.
This turned out so cute. Thanks for sharing. You have a great cadence for teaching and explaining how to sew in an encouraging way that I really like. ❤
Love this! And also I don’t see a problem with singing! What do you always say to us- it’s your world I’m just living in it!!!! Sing your heart out girlfriend!
Thank you for happily, crazily, joyfully being YOU!! I'm 77. Learned to sew when Mom put me on a bus to go 10 miles to Singer Sewing Store when I was 12. (1959). Won 1st place in school competition with the a-line dress I made.... cotton, dark chocolate background fabric, with tiny calico print pink roses, and Peter Pan collar & cuffs of happy pink waffled pique. I was 12. I'm 77, and in my mind, I can still see how pretty that dress was that I created!! Chelsea, I've not sewn for a few yrs. ADHD, & oh gee, whatever my brain has been tripping over that has me kinda stagnating, not creating, hoarding, piling up supplies, but not making anything.... YOU have ignited something in me that makes me want to clean off the tables, set up the sewing machine, cut out fabric & MAKE STUFF!! Wow. THANK YOU.
You are wonderful, I so enjoyed this project, and one of the comments actually gave me an idea about making these for Chemo and kidney facilities to donate. Our DAR sisters are busy sewing these for our health project in Cape Coral. You go girl, and what a wonderful instructor you are. Maryola, Lawrence Kearny DAR Regent
@@shesewsseams I also used left over quilted fabric to make a couple of the bags, they turned out very nice, I used bias tape to cover the raw edges, then followed the same instructions. I really enjoy your energy. Keep going with these videos you're terrific. Maryola
You are awesome and the bag is so darning. I’m a 68 disabled woman that has not sewed in a long time, and you just gave me Christmas gift ideas for my4 daughter and 7 granddaughter. THANK YOU 🙏🏻❤️
Thank you ssoooo much for doing this. I have $5.00, so I can make me a handbag. Or tote bag or whatever I choose to use it for. I really appreciate your help and tutorial. Amazing. ❤
I definitely want to see more unabridged videos. 1. Because it’s less work for you and 2. Because you are a great teacher. I’m learning to have more confidence in my sewing. Plus, you are adorable and I love your personality! Please don’t get burnt out and take care of yourself for me 😊❤
You won me over when you said, "I iron, I don't press". I do the same. When you iron, you can block at the same time, and even out small variances. Yes I am a quilter, but I iron. Thanks for the tutorial.
I iron my fabric also and my projects come out just fine. The only time I will press is if my quilt blocks have bias seams, gotta be careful with those bias seams. Everyone should just do what works for them, after all it’s supposed to be fun, and we shouldn’t worry about what others say about our desire to iron vs pressing. 😂
I used to volunteer in my son's elementary school. Every year I would go to the 1st grade classes and teach them to sew pillows. We would use felt because it doesn't fray. I used blunt embroidery needles so no one gets hurt. The kids loved the project and began to be one of the most exciting days of the year. My own son was sewing with the machine by himself by the time he was 6. Sewing with kids is a life skill that is still taught in schools around the world sadly not in the USA. I highly recommend!
I like your longer tutorials because they show more details. I would’ve never thought of using dish mats to make a tote bag! How clever and economical! Thank you! Keep those projects coming!
I don’t sew. At all. BUT! This video was in my feed and I watched it and I enjoyed it! I actually have my Grandmother’s Singer sewing machine from the 40’s. You have given me the confidence that I might just try one of these! Thanks for the tutorial and inspiration. You’re easy to learn from, have a lovely voice, bubbly personality and remind me of my beautiful best friend when I was a kid.
Great tutorial, Chelsea! Your Home Ec teacher really must have been a good influence on you. I've been sewing for years and still learning more from you. Can't believe yet that I made a duffle bag and a market bag out of a dish drain mat. Who'd a thought huh? Great ideas! Keep the real-time videos coming...love them all! You're a real treasure to all and a beautiful girl, inside and out! ❤❤
U are a born teacher. Just completed this bag using same dry mats . My grand kids school symbol is the bee. I’m a fairly new quilter and love to dabble in easy sewing projects to make gifts when I can. Only thing I changed was stitch length to 3.5 to get through the double layers of foam. U are amazing straight foward and building confidence. This also was a very forgiving project. Teachers are always lugging around tons of stuff. Will try to figure out how to send picture. Thank u C
My son's fiancee wants to learn to sew. I got her sewing machine all tuned up & now getting things ready for her to learn the basics before she ventures out on her own. Also glad she wants to do this as it will get me back sewing again, as well as my cousin too. Thank u sooooo much for this idea, it is great!! ♥️ 🇨🇦
I loved your video, I’ll be watching more after I leave this message. Don’t stop the humming, singing and laughing, like you said there are no quilt/sewing police. Thank you for such and easy bag tutorial!! Keep up the great work there are so many of us who appreciate what you do!!
Thank you I am 63 years old and I remember my home ec class I wish when I was younger I took it more seriously, I would love to see like you, thank for the videos because I will follow and learn!
I cannot sew. Maybe a button, or fix a hole. So just watching you is very calming. I probably will never sew but your tutorials are so fantastic that I may start when I retire and have time. Thank u. Keep it up. You are wondetful.
This was meant for me. I just had knee replacement and on a walker right now. I am going to make one with shorter handles and put Velcro on them so I can attach to the front bar of the walker. I knew I needed to make a bag, and this is it. I can put my glasses, phone, etc in it. Will make my life so much easier. And, my hubby won’t have to fetch everything for me. He is great, but what steps I can save him will be nice. Thank you so much!!
I agree with the comments that say you are a natural teacher! You’re so pleasant and not intimidating at all. You’re doing a great job and I hope some young people especially those on a tight budget will start watching and doing some of the projects.
I just finished my bag!!! I am so freaking proud of myself. I've only ever made pillows and blankets. Super simple rectangle or square projects. So this was completely out of my comfort zone!!! Thank you for your tutorial!!
I love to tell people who are interested in sewing that the imperfections are the love you put in to your project because it shows that you took the time and effort to make it. You didn't just go to a shop and buy it, because anybody can do that. I'm a perfectionist, and this is the mantra I tell myself, as well 😂
I shop at Dollar Tree all the time and NEVER thought to use these instead of fabric n batting for bags. So smart! I am making one but going to turn it an sew on the short side and sew it in half to make a wine bag for the hostess gift. You should sew one too and show all your peeps m. ❤
Very cute! Im 63 & been sewing since i was 8...this is a great beginner project. This would be great as a kids overnite bag for jammies & a change of clothes. Well done!
I really appreciate you took into account that not everybody has sewing skills, but there are people like me who really want to learn! Thank you! :) Love the bag!!!
I love your laugh, along with your awesome tutorials. I have been crafting for about a year now, but haven’t worked up the courage to make a video yet. You make it look as easy as pie. Thanks for being you!🎉
Ever loving mind girl!!! Fawn over adorable print then look like a lunatic when you come across them in real life.😂🐝 Adorable, easy project and awesome video 😁
This is an awesome and simple project. I'm going to ask my 11 yr old granddaughter if she would like to sew this for her mother's birthday gift. I want to make one for me too!
So cute! I would love to see more of these types of videos! You explain things very well as you go, and they are short enough for me to watch while I’m eating breakfast and plan my day.
Oh ya someone who explained what "nesting" means, Thank you so much! Have you thought about doing quilt lines or even pockets on your dish drying mat tote? I bet it would look so cute. 🥰😍🤩
Love! I did see the travel roll up. It's totally my jam. I'd love to see you do a full tutorial on that, if you have the time and desire. I'd super appreciate it 😊
I love your sewing tutorials. I also learned to sew in home ec in school. It’s missing in today’s schools. I have made two duffel bags. Working on a smaller one and a makeup bag. You are a natural teacher. Keep up the good work.
Chelsea, I'm a relatively new sewer and I just love you! Your sew along for the market bag is fantastic and enabled me to make two bags which I actually use. Do you ever make anything out of old jeans? I'd love to see a sew along or even just watch you do a bag or apron. Thanks for all you do!
I also learned to sew in home EC I'm now 70. My mom bought me my first Singer and still have it along with a new Brother. I'm truly blessed that we had those classes years ago, and I'm still learning from YOU! ❤
I have been sewing for 41 years never made a cute bag like that. Thank you for the tips was so easy. You are a great teacher! Glad I started watching UA-cam sewing tutorials. Lots of cute things made on here. Can't wait to see what is next.
I learned to sew at 18. Mom said we are making a maternity outfit. I did and took off from there. The only thing I would change is add an interfacing in the handle for more stability. I have been sewing 50 years but never thought of dishdrying mats. This is so clever and you are a born teacher.❤
I ran across your video today while not feeling well and you made me smile with your Dollar Tree bee bag. Your voice is soothing & comforting. Thank you.🎉
I made my first Dollar Tree bag. I used 2 drying mats and 2 pumpkin dish towels on the outside. I had fabric in my stash for the lining. It's a little smaller, but it's so darn cute and I'm happy with it. I love your tutorials. You are such a good teacher!!!
You are a joy to watch. I know how to make a bag like this but I still enjoy watching this. You make things easy to understand and give confidence to achieving this. Some ppl are hard to watch.
Thank you for this tutorial. How cute and your instructions are simple and clear and so easy to follow whether you are new to sewing or not. Thank you!
I'm perfectly content with the abbreviated tutorials, but I'm watching to provide support! I found you on tiktok and i love this series! So fun and accessible! Edit: also, pressing is for seams. Gentle ironing is for getting wrinkles out.
💕😍 🧵 Fabulous! Thank you SO much Chelsea for a fun, manageable project that comes together quickly. I AM SO TIRED of the 18-step videos that require $30 worth of “Buy This in the Link” stuff….they are intimidating and expensive and kill a lot of joy. I’m a quilter who learned from library books long ago and I can do tough projects but sometimes I just want to sew something fun and be done with it. You’re the teacher I WISH I had had when I started sewing long ago. Blessings!!!!
I’m going to make my granddaughter who loves night before Christmas. The drying mats are jack and his girlfriend got them on sale at big lots SCORE they are the big ones. So when I get time to do it I’ll post it. Thank you so much for the tutorial.🙋♀️👏👏👏👏❤️
This bag is ALMOST as adorable as you, Chelsea! First time watcher here, long time sewer, and I'll be watching many more of your videos. Thank you, keep singing!
I just watched this video again. I enjoy hearing you talk! You have such a kind and soothing voice! I watched your most recent video today that was shy of 10 minutes. I wasn’t ready for that video to end!! ❤
You have been an inspiration to me! THANK YOU . Ive sewn on & off for 50 years + but have had a hard time lately returning to the craft that I love, Thank you for inspiring me with simple, beautiful pieces that I am proud of sharing, using & giving. You are a joy to watch & listen to also. Keep up the amazing work :)
5$. Man, thats a money maker. I just subscrib3d. My sewing machine is in storage3 right now. but when i get more room, in my rental room, ill binge watch you. THIS IS GREAT FOR GROCERY SHOPPING and will do well with the extra padding for cold goods.
You are too cute! I've been sewing for about 56 years, but I enjoyed your tutorial immensely! Bravo! I subscribed, because I don't want to miss any of your videos!!! Tah 🎉
You have a lovely, calm voice and a way of teaching that makes me feel I could actually do this project! Love that you did it in “real time”! So much more relaxed and less rewinding to try to follow directions. Great video!
OMGosh!! That bag is adorable. I have been sewing since I was 8 years old and I am now 68! This is one of the cutest projects I have seen in a long time!! You are so good at explaining what you are doing and a great encouraging force for women who are just starting to sew! I have always said that if you can sew you can do anything and bring out your own personality and style! I love this! Great job!
TY for a very clever project ( especially with the box corners…they sit well while filling)) with Excellent instruction! One can n e v e r have too many totes 🥰
Just discovered you! First, you are absolutely adorable and gorgeous and such a sweet spirit ❤ 2nd you are a very pleasant and gentle teacher. Kindness matters! 3rd you have a very pleasant and cheerful voice and are easy to listen to.
Good morning from Central Arkansas. I just came across your channel, and I love it. I have been looking for a different way to create a bag for my Bible. Your design will work great. Thanks for all you do. ❤
I am going to make these for my trip to the grocery store every week. They are just beautiful and very versatile. You made this video very fun to watch. Thank you.
Love this video! You don’t know how many others’ 34:19 I’ve watched and felt I was missing something. This is perfect. I would add that some might want to iron the little open area in the lining so that their 1/4” seam allowance is straight and then sewable, but great instructions!
I’ve been sewing for years but there is always more to learn! I adore you and love your Dollar Store series! Thank you for sharing your talent and skills! 🥰
@sissuesace thank you for this wonderful idea!
Beautiful idea as I am omw to Dollar Tree🤭
That's a terrific idea! Also, I send prayers for your health.
Oh my gosh I made one with a baby machine with no backstitch! You are so much fun!
You could sew velcro to be able to close it if needed. Or a button with a scrap material rolled or a tiny strap to hook around the button. I think it would be a great bag for a baby bottle diaper wipes for a quick trip to the store. What about a bag for a change of clothes for the park or toddler or child activity.

same here, i am having a terrible time being motivated. Thank you Chelsea
I love how you go slow and explain everything.
I can't believe you have less than 10k subscribers on here. You are a natural teacher and do such fun projects.
Thank you! 😊
I agree!
I agree too I have learned so much from your videos
I added!

This is an awesome and simple project. I'm going to ask my 11 yr old granddaughter if she would like to sew this for her mother's birthday gift. I want to make one for me too!
You can use whatever color you like because it is your life!! 🙌 so refreshing ❤
So cute! I would love to see more of these types of videos! You explain things very well as you go, and they are short enough for me to watch while I’m eating breakfast and plan my day.
love your market bag. Our Dollar Tree here in NH has ugly fat quarters and I have only found the mats once or twice. Thanks for the tutorial.
I am in NH and i agree.
You are so inspiring!! I’ve been sewing since age 7 and I still love seeing new projects‼️
Can't wait to try these! I love using reusable bags instead of paper gift bags for gift giving
Such a great idea. Multi purpose.
Great project and teaching! Now I understand why your children are confident!😻🌷
Oh ya someone who explained what "nesting" means, Thank you so much! Have you thought about doing quilt lines or even pockets on your dish drying mat tote? I bet it would look so cute. 🥰😍🤩
Great idea!
You are amazing as a person and a sewing teacher!! Thank you for all you do ❤
Love! I did see the travel roll up. It's totally my jam. I'd love to see you do a full tutorial on that, if you have the time and desire. I'd super appreciate it 😊
You got it!
I made this bag with Christmas themed drying mats. Added pockets along one side inside and sewed a potholder outside for another pocket.
I love your sewing tutorials. I also learned to sew in home ec in school. It’s missing in today’s schools. I have made two duffel bags. Working on a smaller one and a makeup bag. You are a natural teacher. Keep up the good work.
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
I love that you don't have to use interfacing and the bag has a nice fluffiness!
Me too!!
Ohhh..my goodness..I love..love this idea 💡..I'm making pillows out of the 🍋 lemon placemats..but this is cool too 😎
You are such a positive person, and your teaching is perfect. You definitely make it so simple to sew. Thank you so much for being a great teacher!
Thank you so much!
Enjoyed your video. Perfect bag for the pool, beach etc. Going to be making one to carry my hand stitching to the pool🪡🧵. Thank you for sharing this.
Wonderful!
I absolutely love this slower that way I don't have to keep going back thank you so much
Glad you enjoy it!
I also learned to sew in home EC I'm now 70. My mom bought me my first Singer and still have it along with a new Brother. I'm truly blessed that we had those classes years ago, and I'm still learning from YOU! ❤
That is awesome!
I have been sewing for 41 years never made a cute bag like that. Thank you for the tips was so easy. You are a great teacher! Glad I started watching UA-cam sewing tutorials. Lots of cute things made on here. Can't wait to see what is next.
You are so welcome!
Thank you.🎉
You are so welcome - feel better!!
I made my first Dollar Tree bag. I used 2 drying mats and 2 pumpkin dish towels on the outside. I had fabric in my stash for the lining. It's a little smaller, but it's so darn cute and I'm happy with it. I love your tutorials. You are such a good teacher!!!
That is awesome!
Thank you!
I can't wait to go to Dollar Tree and hope they have these cute patterns!
You are so welcome!
❤ Awesome tutorial Chelsea. Natural teacher. 🐝🐝🐝
Glad you liked it!!
Hey there, just a small note to say thank you for your style of teaching. Nice and slow and very detailed. See you next time. Karen F Byrd
Thank you very much!
This bag is ALMOST as adorable as you, Chelsea! First time watcher here, long time sewer, and I'll be watching many more of your videos. Thank you, keep singing!
Super teaching video. Love the Dollar Tree dish mat bag. How easy!!!🩷
Your teacher should be so proud of ! You did a wonderful job. Thanks
Thank you so much!
I just watched this video again. I enjoy hearing you talk! You have such a kind and soothing voice! I watched your most recent video today that was shy of 10 minutes. I wasn’t ready for that video to end!! ❤
Oh thank you!
Thank you for the kind words!
Dollar Tree here I come , gonna look at more of your videos! 😊😊😊😊😊
Tah 🎉
Thank you so much!
I've been sewing for years but always interested in a quick gift for a friend. Pockets on the outside is something I would add.
Great job!
Thank you so much!
TY for a very clever project ( especially with the box corners…they sit well while filling))
with Excellent instruction! One can n e v e r have too many totes 🥰
Glad it was helpful!

Coming soon!
Thank you.
You are so welcome!
You are so welcome!
I think is a wonderful bag! I could make a bunch of these in different sizes and do my monthly Walmart grocery haul. Such a great bag! Thank you.
Great idea!!
I like the long format.
I added snaps to mine!! Love this tutorial thank you so much ❤😊
