I'm Making A Spoon Rest Out Of Maple & I've Got The Bowl Looking Prettygood & All I Need To Do Is Cut It Out Then All I Need To Do Is Do Alot Of Sanding On It. Then Shelack It Cause All It's Gonna Be Used To Put Spoons In.
Hi Roger, that sounds great. In terms of finish, I wouldn't use shellac for a spoon rest because it is not durable for moisture exposure. I would suggest either a mineral oil finish that is easy to refresh, or a food-safe poly that has moisture resistance. My top choice would be mineral oil and beeswax.
Hi Ibrahim, thanks for your feedback. I agree that in the first carving scene the camera should have been lower so that you could better see the profile of the bowl being shaped. The light from the die grinder also caused som problems in that scene. Next time I’ll do better. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Paul
I'm Starting A Spoon & I'm Making Mine Out Of Oak & I'm Tracing Around A Pocilin Spoon Holder To Make It. Then I'm Gonna Use A Rotary Tool I Just Bought Off The Home Depot Website. Then I'll Shalack It & Use It As A wooden Spoon Holder. Like My Porcilin One.
Hi Roger, that all great. Beware that shellac isn’t moisture resistant so if you ever use the spoon and have to wash it it could be a problem. But for display-only purposes it will be great. Cheers
Awesome, Brian. Thank you for the feedback. Yes, it is the 'Extreme - Very Coarse', sorry that I had omitted that detail from the description. I've also now purchased the Fine one in hopes to eliminate some sanding, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Hopefully soon. Good luck, and let me know how it goes for you. Cheers, Paul

Hello my new friend. I registered on his channel. Notifications will always remain open for you. I saw that we had something in common. I am happy to be on your channel. I want to see you on my channel too. This idea was very good. You created a great spoon with the mold grinder. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. See you all the time. A great warm hug. Stay healthy and happy. Big greetings...
It took a lugubrious amount of time to make something relatively simple, the Kutzall bits were completely wrong for this project and the band saw was a lazy attempt at shaping. A disc would have served a quicker and accurate way on an angle grinder, hollowed out the shape in an instant, smoother and professional, the whole project from start to finish including an ornate design on the handle could have been achieved well within an hour.
@@risunokairu It shouldn't be too difficult to find reference to any superior carvings on here, learning to take criticism and adapt around it are a different subject. Practice will make perfect.
The light on the end of the grinder is a nice feature
It’s awesome for carving but it caused me some grief in video quality. Oh well, worth it I guess.
Simply beautiful. Many thanks for sharing this video.
Thank you, George! 🙏
You're the best at that
Thank you, Amy! 🙏
Very nice, thanks for showing us. Take care.
Thanks for watching Quinn. Cheers, Paul

I wish the camera is in the form an angle so the image is clear for us.... Thanks

Very nice - I will try this! Is it the "Extreme - very coarse" Kutzall bit?

What is the hand carving tool that you used?
Hi Jamie, here you go: amzn.to/3aTkc1F.
Isnt mineral oil toxic for us?
It’s FDA approved. I go by their guidance.

I tried to find your spoon carving tutorial to carve a superior spoon but I can't find it on your UA-cam channel Ray

Wrong tools for what you were attempting to do. Learn where to point your camera. Complete failure.
Thanks for watching and sharing your opinions here. This setup works great for me. Cheers
