Jesus said you've heard it this way i say this because he was speaking to religious people who thought they were actually fully following the law. So to point our their error he says you've heard it said not to commit adultery but anyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. He made it clear the issue is not just what you are doing on the outside but what is on the inside. He wasn't changing it he was telling them they actually were missing the heart of it.
Find identity in Yeshua and the true definition of “Christian” follower of the messiah. Not identity in a church, religion, doctorine, dogma, tradition ect… so what is a Christian, a follower of the Messiah Yeshua, who suffered through it all. So Yes. Keep your faith in Yeshua and not in Christianity. Remember the price paid for you
Many Christians struggle with some aspects of Christianity, but as we should know, "true" Christians will remain bound by the truth of Christianity in obedience, and not capitulate into to false doctrine. Unfortunately, Mr. McLaren is apparently desiring others who struggle with their questions to embrace their "confusion" and apostatize from the faith. I have only watched about 10 minutes of this, but I wish it was time that I had back. If you repent at the end of this sad commentary, I apologize in advance.
