Great Q/A Tony. My other hobby is high end audio. I take heavy loses when I upgrade different components in the system. I treat it like a lease. The upgrade is to get better sound. To me the money does not come into it. It’s the enjoyment of the watch/ audio. Then it’s time to upgrade. It’s all part of the hobby. The history of the watches/ audio I have owned is a my journey. Thank you for giving an honest review of the Daytona’s legibility. I had a similar experience with the Tudor Panda. Initially loved the watch but after 4mos not being able to easily tell the time became a dealbreaker. Wound up selling it at 35% loss.

I’m wearing my 2023 41mm Tudor Black Bay smooth bezel. It’s on the 5 link bracelet with the blue dial. I fkn love it! I’m buying nothing but Tudor right now. (I own several) When I get the 4 or 5 more that I want, I’ll go back to buying Rolex again. I’m just on a Tudor kick right now.

I used to only think of my Omega as a luxury watch, but the more I think about it I think any watch you have the good fortune to buy and wear and enjoy is the true definition of luxury. Any thoughts on this? Sometimes I feel like the luckiest man alive when I take stock and look at the life I get to live, and wearing a Hamilton feels like real luxury through that lens. Hello Tony, love the channel. Question: I recently purchased a brand new 'old stock' Tudor Grantour 20340W (2009/2010) from my local AD. I scoured the internet but could barely find anything about the watch itself, but I posted a thread on Reddit in case you wanted to take a look - just search the name! The AD told me that this specific model was produced primarily for the Middle East and Asia markets. My guess is they barely sold any as I've not been able to find a single model that's identical to the one I got. I found some with leather straps, but none with the stainless steel bracelet. What do you think of this watch? I feel like the watch is rare enough to one day be a collectible item, and I got it as a full set, brand new, with stickers, original box, and papers. I know it's odd looking, but I am curious, if you were in my position, what would you do? Would you wear the watch, or keep it tucked away as a safe queen? Thanks Tony!

Small seconds are cool unless it integrates with the dial badly (like so many sub dials do) IMO. A minute repeater pocket watch would be way cool. I bought a cool Citizen stopwatch to scratch the pocket watch itch lol. Kind of a question.... Do you think a digital minute repeater would be fun? Maybe it exists? Weird if it doesn't, but then again we all turned off the hourly chime on our Casios back in the day, but now get real excited about it in a mechanical lol!

I believe design wise, Cartier comes first, Patek is the best and most elite, Breguet is the best bang for the buck, Rolex is the most durable. You gotta make your choices based on what matters to you most.

I just went and tried on a Patek 5212 which I feel is an incredible watch and the first thing I thought to myself was, Oh shit I cant really read this. Depressed me actually
I will never get bored with Rolex because I just view them as fantastic tool watches ...... which they will always be. They will likely always occupy that space, and people will always want such a watch. There always seems to be a Rolex model I would like, yet Omega and Grand Seiko ........ not so much.

Strong brands fizzle. Gamestop, AMC, Enron.. we love rolex today. In 5-10 years.. they could become Longines. I'm already starting to feel as if it really isn't a special brand. It's the Toyota of the Luxury watch brands.. assembly line watches, making 1MM per year (so you see them everywhere), not special. Meanwhile, Patek Vacheron AP are hand made. Rare. Special. Rolex is only branding. Solid. But not true luxury.
@@geno816 Well, Longines is pigeonholed under the Swatch Group so they are naturally staying behind Omega, GO, Breguet, etc. If Longines managed to preserve with the quartz crisis and had proper management, personally think they would be competing in a different category. However, it’s kinda of blessing that they are under Swatch especially since they can use ETA movements and proprietary features (ie silicone materials). Also, I’m glad that Longines is in that $2k-$5k price range right now lol.
I am wearing my Rolex 12260 James Cameron deep sea. I have stopped purchasing watches over the last 18 months. I have all the watches I want to own minus a few pieces. I can’t even face my AD anymore. Slimey and rude imo. I certainly won’t buy from the preowned vendors. They are even worse. I can’t believe the lights I use to go to with my AD to get the pieces I wanted. Anyway, no one can take them away from me now.
