I love listening to these. I've had a keen interest after doing a haunted Edinburgh tour late 70s which had us taken down the mile by an author of a book on the haunted mile, his name eludes me to this day as Id like his book. Funny mentioning Royston. My mother in law is from the area as are her three brothers and other three sisters. I honestly prefer here in the highlands to the city, especially today. Leith walk was an absolute mess to drive down
Truly fabulous set of tales, John and loved the story of The Great Lafayette and his faithful dog, expertly read by Gordon Rutter. (Must get that book...) Lafayette a true hero, going back to face the conflagration on stage, to try and save his horse. I was actually tearful. Also glad I haven't booked digs in Rodney St this time around. What a mysterious & macabre area? I shall be careful next time I'm off to buy doughnuts at The Bearded Baker! Painstakingly researched and a treat for us all. Many thanks! 👍💀👻
Glad that you liked this latest installment. It was a lot of fun discovering these tales and further researching them. Gordon did a great job for sure...
And did you know Houdini had Hungarian roots? He was born in Budapest as Erik Weisz. As you can see my name is Hungarian as well :) There are many Hungarian rooted legends like Johnny Weiszmuller aka Tarzan, or Béla Lugosi the Vampire :) This video is so phenomenal so i think i add some bonus info to this. :)
Amazing job! You are a genius cos of hystorical background! I love History and i can learn lots of facts from your videos. My favourite tale was the magician with his dog. And in a previous tale you said the theatre is near Lothian Road. When i moved to Scotland that night my friend and me were stood at lothian Road cos of bus 47. I complained to my friend i feel something strange there. And yeah, that was a rainy evening but that thing was real weird.. Finally, your last words are great again. A pure ending! Thank you!
Many thanks indeed. I was just talking with a neighbour who worked in the very location of the now festival theatre. They held an event to mark the centenary of The Great Lafayette and his tragic demise. Lothian Road is bound to have some good ghost stories👍
@synchronisedsouls I spent a lot of time there as a youngster in the late 70s and 80s. The Embassy was long gone by then but co NEN presenter EJ Ross remembers it well. His mum worked in the shop beside it, a newsagent..
I remember the tales from the embassy from my dad & family members who went there or the Palace back in the day. I also remember it being Laws & a local lad breaking in & opening it up to the public during the night 😂
Do you remember the spider in the oranges story? I know there have been many urban legend stories like this but I remember the day it happened at laws...

Many thanks. The Embassy is a genuinely weird story. I remember it like yesterday along with the tarantula in the box of pomegranates😄
