  • Bearing the title of 'Edinburgh's Seaside, ' Portobello sits on the outskirts of the city. Although historically it was a town, it is officially a residential suburb of Edinburgh.
Of the many tales of Portobello and its neighbours, there are many. Today we look at a selection of stories, stories that will chill you to the bone.
This 38 minute long episode of North Edinburgh Nightmares was indeed a mammoth task. Taking two months to research, interview, visit and create.
Many, many thanks to all the great people who helped along the way

Many thanks. We always have a blast when researching the ghosts of Portobello. Our Portobello Ghost Walk will be back in the spring...

Another chilling set of tales, this time from Portobello and it's environs.
Informative? Tick.✔️ Expert storytelling and photography? Tick.✔️ Compulsive viewing? Tick! ✔️
One to especially enjoy in the wee hours. Loved the sound effects too. Most unsettling.
Particularly liked the tale of Jane Anderson and the way she's still remembered by folk. Reminds me of a local, mysterious Worcestershire story of "Who put Bella in the Wych Elm?" Women not all together forgotten. Thanks so much for this!

Wait... You mean to tell me that after all these years, there's FINALLY a case where "the Butler did it"?

I just watched the video you did with Eerie Edinburgh. I jumped right over to you and subscribed without even watching first. I really enjoyed the story you told and am sure that I will continue to enjoy all of your tales. I hope you have a great week. 😃

Could you please do something about the FOREGROUND music , on lowest volume in the BACKGROUND where it belongs would be great. Can't hear a word of this otherwise excellent series .

@sheilastewart5387 Greetings Sheila. The audio is unfortunately unable to adjust. Once you upload a video to UA-cam its there as it is. I've not uploaded a feature length story in a couple of years and no longer have the source materials. The sound differs on different devices. If you have a listen with headphones it may be a very different experience. Hope this of some help and many thanks for liking the videos. They were a great deal of fun to make...

Brunstane farm is a long distance from the old portobello high school.. not a likely place to play truant.. plus we used to go there for years from the 80s-90s and there was nothing paranormal whatsoever.. the scariest thing was the old dog who's lead was attached to a wire on the wall and could chase you the length of the farm

I've interviewed the very man. I used to skive up the town and my school was miles away at Trinity. Skiving tends to take your fancy on the day..

I’m disappointed! 😂 I was hoping you were going to mention the monk that haunts Kings Road but no mention. Myself and a witness seen him back in 89’ in the grounds of the Lothian bus depot behind the Houses on Kings Road just off the promenade. The quest continues! 😂 He wasn’t good btw, I felt him!!

That poor young woman Jane, the doctor had a lucky escape by dying, unfortunately we'll never know what his fate would have been. I was very interested in all the eerie stories of the buildings that appear outside Edinburgh the stately homes happy to know some are still standing.

The stories of what happened at Brunstane Farm are hilarious, I find it especially difficult to believe that lot of crock because I grew there and I can 100% assure all that no pigs were slaughtered there as they were taken to the abattoir and were humanely delt with there. Some peoples imagination is outstanding and they need help!
