Even though things turned out well hiring Saban, I hated how things worked out for Mike Shula. This defense was amazing in every game except Auburn. They even held Texas Tech to 10 points in the bowl. This was probably Shula's best moment at Alabama.
17:07 that’s absolutely tragic. But that’s also why you don’t go deep up 31-3 with nine minutes to go on fourth and three in field goal range. Fuck Mike Shula, that was completely avoidable.
I will never understand why Shula left the starters in well after a game was well in hand no sense in having them in the game when you're up 28 with 8 minutes to go in the game the offense was never the same that year after we lost prothro and it should have never happened
It's a damn shame that Prothro's injury messed them up that bad... If he hadn't gotten injured, I believe we'd had an undefeated season. Sucks that Saban wasn't the coach back then
It's weird seeing this now, all these years and National Championships later! Saban pulled the program out of the dark days and turned it into a machine. The last time we played Florida, in the 2016 SEC Title Game, we beat them by 38 points. 54-16!!
@@MrTallformyheight honestly the team we feared in the 90s was the gators we hated playing them especially in the sec championship game ask our players from the 90s they said can we play anybody but Florida it didn’t matter what Florida’s record was Alabama simply hated playing them
@@MrTallformyheight We come to your house this year👍 Bringing a little better defense tho lol Pitts was unstoppable for yall last year! Should be a good game tho. Gotta break in Bryce Young lol
I forgot what a rifle Brodie Croyle had on him. Quick release. Looks like a short stop throwing someone out at home plate every time he threw the ball.
Man I almost forgot how amazing Protho was back then...really sucks his career was over when he injured his ankle. This guy was a beast!! RTR

"there are few universal truths in an uncertain world" Man, Lundquist was spot on.
Our offense lost all ability to take the top off the defense after the Prothro injury. He was great man, hate to see him go down like that

Armchair quarterback!

Prothro going out was a killer. But the Closner injury was by far the worst injury. Once he went out, our offense was never the same...
Because it’s Florida. That’s one team you definitely have to run the score up on just because it’s Florida. Lol

That crowd pop at 1:39 was crazy
Heard it live from the student section. Top 5 loudest moment and only 83k in BDS at the time. The whole game it was nuts.
Shula went for it on 4th down, in field goal range, up by 4 touchdowns, in the 4th quarter. What on earth was he thinking?
It’s Florida and they deserve a beat down.
Prothro was amazing. He deserved an NFL career but bad luck ended that.
Darby was awesome in this game.

This last game was an instant classic tho. Go Gators!

Brodie Croyle went off in this game. He honestly always reminds me (looks and play style) of Keanu Reeves as Shane Falco in the Replacements movie 🤣
this was when Shula was coach early 2000's
This injury spelled doom for this team's year and .Ike Shula never recovered!

A SURE-FIRE NFL talent RUINED by a pointless 4th down call. Smh
Why was Prothro even in the game ? Why were they chucking it deep ? Injuries happen in football everyday, but this one didn’t need to
Roll Tide Prothro! Roll Tide!
Shula 1-0 vs Meyer.
He’s 1-1 against him they played in 2006
