DeBarge kinda like BeeGees are recognisable the very first opening note. There is no one like them then now or in future. Plaintive beautiful almost genderless human soundscape music. El deBarge is still a beautiful presence in music

It's hard to believe El just turned 60 & still look & sounds great. I just found out he sang the background for Switch on I Call Your Name w/Bobby on lead.
El and Bunny did backup vocals on a few Switch songs. Nine of the DeBarge family, including the twins, added vocals on Friend In The Sky by Switch, too.
he sang background on Iggin me and played the organ/piano on that song for Chico and I think the song Virgin too

It's amazing how they were able to produce such great music as they came from an abusive home life at the hands of their father.

Love this song, Eldebarge's voice was almost as distinctive as his older brother Bobby debargewho sang with the group Switch.
One of my favorites. These are the brothers and sister of Bobbie and Tommy from the group Switch where you liked the "high voices". In this picture, the 3rd one from the left in the white shirt is Eldra, the one who has the high falseto voice. He is now 60 yrs. old. When you get a chance look up their story...sad but true. Great voices Eldra battled drugs too, but overcame them and in recent years, surprised us in the BET Awards and sang...his voice NEVER changed!!!

He also wrote the incredible Love Me In A Special Way in the back of a taxi on the way to Billy Preston’s house when he wasn’t much older.

DeBarge!! Truly, they should be no less household names than the Jacksons or anyone else.
I highly recommend giving a listen to Love Me In A Special Way, Share My World, What’s Your Name, You’re So Gentle, You’re So Kind , and Queen Of My Heart. Bunny is featured more in the first and third of those songs. Her vocals are on par with the great Deniece Williams. The vocals and harmonies by all of them on Share My World are insane and on Queen of My Heart, Bobby DeBarge comes in with some vocals at the end that will make you want to slap your Mama.
I was just listening to DeBarge tonight. Clearly one of the best bands of all time. He is underrated in my opinion. DeBarge was the SHIT back in the day

This family has had it's demons when they were recording artists. Two of their brothers who were in the group Switch had unfortunate demise, and their siblings in the group Debarge all turned to drugs that ended their careers as well. They had a rough childhood due to their dad was abusive, as well. It's just sad, because they all were very talented. El Debarge was one of the singers in the Quincy Jones production of the song "Secret Garden," which I think you've reacted to already. He was also the lead singer of the group Debarge.

Probably one of my favorite DeBarge songs. Give a listen to El’s song Someone or Can’t Get Enough. Also, El is featured on the remake of Marvin’s After The Dance…that song is 🔥 all day!
