My Mum's friend was put under anesthetic, but she didn't fall unconscious (so, basically, she couldn't feel anything, but she could hear everything around her) and she heard the surgeons making a bet on her (can't remember what it was) and when she woke up she said to the one of the surgeons 'so who won the bet'. xD So, my point is, if they make bets, they probably sing. Unless it's a major operation.
