Thanks for the video Darryl. I've the Planar 50/2 which is unreal and also the ZM 28/2.8 which is just incredibly sharp to the corners! I'm currentlky looking for that compact 35 and I was considering the new Type ii Voightlander Ultron 35/2 but seeing this it is a gorgeous lens. Perhaps I don't need f2!

  • @craigclu

I'll also echo the praise of this glass. I also use it on an M6 TTL with nice results. I must be much less sensitive to the hood intrusion as I needed to go pick up the camera/lens after watching this and do some critical viewing and realized that I hadn't noticed the intrusion enough to remember it. I wear eyeglasses so my eye relief is likely a bit rearward of yours and the vented hood provides very little distraction to the viewfinder view for me. On my old CL (rf window closer to the lens), I find that simple, generic hoods prevent rf problems as they somewhat follow the diameter of the lens and this may be a cheap experiment for you.

Hi Darryl, I have just recently sold this lens to get a Voigtlander APO 2/35.It is a very sharp lens renders nicely. Lens hood, very expensive, here in Aus. C.R. Kennedy charges AUD 200 for it. I purchased a 43mm vented screw on hood from China and it works just fine for about 5 bucks. BTW you are referring that it has ¼ stops, to my understanding it is 1/3 stops.

I could not be happier with its image quality (mainly landscape). It is much bigger and heavier lens than CZ ZM 2.8/35, lens that is excellent. Darryl, I haven't yet confirmed wether or not this hood vignettes (haven't had my film processed!), but was in the same predicament as you and came across the Canon EW-43 lens hood for the EF-M 22mm pancake! Cost me 20 bucks and there are cheaper aftermarket versions. Keeps it very compact, minimal viewfinder intrusion and looks the part if you ask me! Seeing you have a M10, perhaps you can confirm quicker than me! Shouldn't be a problem as the hood is designed for 35mm equivalent and the Zeiss is more like a 36/37mm.

Hi Darryl, thanks for your review of the lens. I‘ ve owned and used the lens for a couple of months now. I can‘t agree more on your opinion concerning built quality and sharpness. Concerning the lens hood I completely disagree. I can‘t imagine that the original Zeiss lens hood (which is always on my lens) blocks the viewfinder more than your 28mm summicron does.
