I just came back from the first weekend of the Ravenna gorge christmas market, here are my suggestions for future travellers: 1. Time: go early if you have the stamina Most time slots after dark are sold out first, because the market is most beautiful when lighted up. However, if you go there while there is still daylight, you can actually do some hiking up in the forest right behind the market, with beautiful waterfalls and bridges within 5 minutes' walk! People also avoid going too early because of the 2.5 hours "limit" on the ticket, but nobody actually enforces the exact time to leave, and the return buses are just on first-come-first-serve basis, not based on the end time of the ticket. Also, some shops like the glass shop outside the market also close early around 6pm, so going early gives you more time because you can choose to stay longer, and to shop in peace while there are less people around. 2. Where to stay Many youtubers start in Freiburg, but you may also choose to stay 5km away in a resort lakeside town, "Titisee". I chose Titisee because I travelled from the east, so going to Freiburg takes longer time, not to mention the extra 1 hour from Freiburg to Ravennaschlucht. Titisee is also more peaceful (if you are not a city person), and has more nature to offer (hiking, or skiing nearby), plus there is also a water park / spa for adults or kids to spend a full day. Lastly, shuttle buses from Titisee or nearby towns are more frequent compared to Freiburg, which gives you more time flexibilty. 3. Slippery with snow/ice The slope up the iconic viewing point is extremely slippery when it snows or when ice forms, so much so that half of the people slipped even when going uphill. It is also very dangerous or possibly fatal when going downhill because of the slope + hidden ice, especially when most people go there in the dark
Christmas time in Germany, no matter where you are is always magical. So much to see and do...and eat! This is my first Christmas in Germany and the wife and I absolutely LOVE each and every experience we've had. We've been to three small Christmas Markets already and each one is as charming as the last. We can't wait to see more and do more during our time here in Germany. Keep up the great content and thank you for sharing your experiences with the UA-cam world.
This Christmas Market looks awesome, especially with the viaduct! Thanks for detailing exactly how to get there because it didn't seem like the easiest. Maybe we'll have to try to get there next year...Can't wait for your next video!
That Christmas Market looks spectacular! I'm glad they manage the crowds. It's definitely on our bucket list. We visited Rothenburg ob der tauber for a couple of days. Your video helped us organize our trip. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
Thanks so much! Glad you had a nice time in Rothenburg! It is nice that they sell a finite amount of tickets, as I think it would get SO crowded otherwise.
Thanks mate! It was a wonderful day out. Maybe next year we could hit up a Christmas market all together :) I’ll buy you as much mustard and schnapps as you can handle if you show me the secrets of your incredible footage.
Great job on the narrative! We enjoyed watching. Just got back from Germany ourselves! That was really helpful that we need a ticket if we want to go next year to this part. ☺
How long in advance does one have to purchase the bus ticket with entry to this Christmas market? Also did you use a website for the purchasing of the ticket ? I’m planing a trip for the first time this year to see a couple of Christmas markets and this one is one on my bucket list.
The 2 hour limit... Is that cos of the bus from Freiburg? I'm guessing that if I stayed somewhere nearby I wouldn't suffer the same time limit... Am I right? It's not a limit set by the market ticket? Cheers from AUS 🇦🇺
I've got tickets to this for Sunday but wasn't able to book the time we wanted. We have to leave at 1700. Does anyone know what happens if you don't leave at the appointed time and attempt to take the next shuttle? I'd like to stay just a little later.
@@NearFromHome Cuz this wonderful Ravenna Gorge Xmas Market video really deserves to reach at least 100k+ views! My comment was intended a compliment.... I absolutely love and truly enjoy your vlog-style storytelling skills!!!! Thank you ever so much for perfectly entertaining me.....
Yeah, I’m general English is rather well spoken in Germany. There were plenty of English speakers the night we went as well. So I’m sure you’ll be fine!

Thanks for the help! We did consider staying in Titisee, but we wanted to see Freiburg.

Loving all your Christmas content! Feels so magical!
Thanks so much! 🥰
The main Hauptbahnhof ... daß ist ein hübscher Doppelmoppel :-)
It looks like you had a blast drinking your way through the whole christmas market.
😇 we really did! lol

Great video! Please make that mentioned summertime excursion video!
I think a summer hiking in the Black Forest would be a lot of fun!!

Thanks so much! We spent a long time editing it, so that means a lot. I hope you guys can make it here next year.
It looks gorgeous! I really want to go! Next year, I hope.
Yes! Every year there is so much to see, and only so many Christmas weekends. 😭
You are so enthusiastic about bridges - you should see the Göltzschtalbrücke when you are in that area. Greetings from Berlin
They say it is the biggest brick bridge in the world
hahaha what can I say, I love bridges. Will check it out next time!
The Feigensenf goes best with hearty cheeses!
Oh don’t worry. I’ve already eaten like all the mustard with cheese and pretzels. 🎉
Yes do the hikes
😍
Feigensenf with strong Cheese is so yummie
Yesssss!

We bought ours in the beginning of November!

Looking at Thatch but I don't see this guide. Do you have a link?
I just updated it! I haven't had too much time to keep up with Thatch, but it shoulddddd be up again!
Thank you for the video! Do most of the stalls take credit/debit cards or is it advisable to bring cash?
When in doubt always bring cash in Germany!
@@NearFromHome Appreciate the reply!

Exactly. Nobody was checking how long we were in the market. If you drive there yourself, I thinkkkkkkk you could stay as long as you want.

I am really not sure!
@ladyedaniels556 could you share if you were able to take the enxt shuttle?? We have booked the ticket, but the end time is same as like your's.
My wife and I just booked our tickets to Munich for the Xmas markets! Any suggestions?
Like 5 videos worth of suggestions!
