Seeing these closed Kmart stores it really makes me miss Kmart even more. I need to remember to shop online with Kmart or drive to Hobbs, New Mexico to shop at that one which is the closest Kmart (for now) from West Texas. Thank you for sharing Walie.
I’ve shopped at this Kmart many times with my grandma, who only lives about 5 minutes from there. I also ate at that Burger King in the same parking lot earlier in 2019. Great video!!!
World Gym was just past the US Mailbox and then Michaels Bar. There was also an Annex building that had a Tabacco, Newspaper and magazine store and a couple others. When they kicked out the other tenants to turn the K-Mart to a Big K Mart. Bad move, the gym had over a thousand members, and I know we all would stop in to pick up things we needed after or before working out.
Originally a K Foods grocer which became a Shop N Save. When Shop N Save closed a Whitlock Auto Parts went in. Everything to the right of K Mart including a small bar went away when K Mart expanded.
There was a K-mart foods here, Because the 60s Kmart stores had a pattern on the side of the K-mart sign holder, And they left part of the 60s thin metal shade in the old Kmart foods.
We would shop here when I was a little kid. You just brought back a memory. YES, there was a K foods there in the 70's. Good call. Also the vacant land to the east (opposite side of 22) used to have another shopping mall structure that had stores and our first Little Ceasars pizza back in the early 1980s. That part of the mall was demolished sometime in the late 80s. My mother would let me drive the car around exactly where you are driving when I was 14. You could say its where I learned to drive. So sad to see Kmart, Burger King, and Kings all close in this area.
To bad you didn't make it up to the area sooner. You could of also filmed the Kings Restaurant that was across from the Burger King. It closed around last winter/spring (2019) and is now torn down (early summer they tore it down) to build a Get-Go. This was the very first Kings Restaurant location. Keep up the great videos!
I grew up in North Huntingdon and lived in Trafford for many years; I went to this K-Mart quite often. My mum's cousin was a manager here back in the mid 80s. 8:19 - That was a separate unit which was some other business I've since forgotten. I seem to recall K-Mart knocked down the wall and expanded into it in the early 90s. Over on the far right of the lot, there was another smaller strip mall which had a tobacco shop and a Radio Shack; it too was torn down in the early 90s.
Thanks for sharing this video, Wallie! Sad to see another business closed, I will be sure to watch your video about the abandoned Burger King! Happy Holidays to you and Kayla! 🎁🎄

They finally closed the one in my hometown just before Christmas this year. It was funny, our store was a store out of time. It was literally like walking into a time warp and being back in the past 30 years. They never changed anything, never put a dime into the store, and it had a run down ghetto feeling. The die hard Walmart haters were the only ones that shopped there anymore, and they took to the local facebook pages to bitch about the going out of sale prices not being good, and how the Walmart put them out of business. It didn't seem to matter that this Kmart put the local Truvalue out of business, as well as a regional chain called Bigwheel. They also forget that Walmart popped up here like 15 years ago.

They just recently tore down what was the Plymouth Michigan Kmart
They had Kmart warehouse just up the street
@@michaelblair5767 That warehouse has been closed for years. I believe it closed not long after their first bankruptcy.
Does the word had mean anything to you
@@michaelblair5767 No need to be snarky. I was just pointing out that it's been closed for a long time. The store only closed less than 3 years ago.
Ok do you know when the toys r us warehouse closed too by any chance
The net is to keep birds from nesting in there
its werid how they left all the registers normally they get all the registers and stuf

Keep shopping online and it will be all gone
Well bad
Wallie you will not believe what I found in my grandpa's truck on a key chain, ask me about it and I will tell you what I found

I was thinking the pronunciation should be like it's French namesake, Ver - sigh, rather than Ver-sails, but I guess not!
Ver sales is the Pittsburgh pronunciation 😊
