Hey, thanks for taking a look at the board! Such a great discussion of the pro's and cons of going riserless. Personally, I love the density of server cases+riserless boards. I find them much easier to keep cool than open air rigs, and capturing/exhausting the hot air. High CFM fans are the only way to go for cooling, so it's only practical if you can use 60-70 dba fans.
A custom home made frame works really well, with 4x delta fans.. (similar to the ones you built with Guntis's instructions, but not as tall) Perhaps I will add some instructions on how to make on on the site.
I never even thought of pre-loading HiveOS, good suggestions.

That is a tight fit. I like the look of the board though. Jealous you have more 3070ti EVGA FTW gpus than me lol. At least I can steal your overclocks what I set my 3070ti's up lol. I was looking at riserless boards though to put my rigs on and eliminate some of the problems of needing to diagnose busted risers. Still have not purchased one though yet. Maybe a winter time project for me. keep up the solid work

First of all, love the channel. New subscriber. I'm about halfway through - it's hard to see, but there's actually a on/off switch on this mobo - I have 2 of them running 24x7 with HiveOS in a SpiderMiner v2 system (they sell a beautiful case, this board, power supply and HiveOS pre-loaded for a very reasonable price. These boards are bulletproof and work perfectly for mining. I even put a larger mSata and more ram in one and ran Windows 10 for a while, but went back to Hive.

I'm using a BTC-S37 (65mm spacing) and am pretty happy with it. It's not as compact as the BTC65, but it's also about 1/3 the price. Biggest drawback of the BTC-x37 boards is a unified 12V plane which can be problematic with multiple PSU setups. After inspecting my board, it appears to be a 2-layer PCB so it should be pretty easy to use a dremel/scalpel to cut the planes to split the board into multiple 12V sections, but don't cut the Gnd planes as these need to stay connected together. Only have 3 GPUs on mine currently and only a few hundred watts, so that'll be a project for future me.
Getting frames/cases for these are a big pain though. Looking to make a 2020 frame.

  • @jacobkirkpatrick1791

Check out the BTC-S37. It has the most spacing of the riserless boards. I made a frame for mine out of 2020 extrusion and will be making a few more. They save a ton of space and draw very little power. They work pretty well.

Are the individual 6-pin connectors isolated? On my BTC-S37, they are not. This poses a problem when you need to use multiple PSUs. You don't want to connect different PSU 12v rails together!
I wish they were isolated. Right now if you need another PSU, you just have to use risers to isolate the second PSU, which defeats the purpose unless you're goal was to reduce risers, but not completely eliminate them.
Or you just get one powerful PSU and install a 240v outlet.

Awesome video. I was planning on buying a riser-less board for a bit, but watching this, never will. The non-changeable spacing and the embedded PCI-E slots and 6-pin power are just more points of failure. Gives me more of an incentive to build my own frame with the GPUs laying flat, they way they are designed. If you see a frame that allows the natural design of the GPUs to lay flat, that would be a great review. Otherwise, I will have to design one without GPU's being directly above or behind each other. Keep up the information... this is great!

    • @adriandeiac8365

Non adjustable spacing and embedded PCIe slots are the very definition of a motherboard. Not sure what you were expecting. It's as if you're complaining about having to actually put food in your mouth to not be hungry anymore. This motherboard is great in my opinion, less things to connect means less points of failure. I run a bunch of 30 series on similar boards with a 20 inch fan pointed at them and it works like a charm, stable, extreme hashrates and really cool. Best part is how cheap these are, no need for an ATX supply, no crappy risers, compact. Go find some slim GPUs like Dell RTX 30 series and you are golden.

@@adriandeiac8365 yeesh, you must be fun at product demos. I wasn't able to estimate what 8x GPU temperatures would be with that spacing, so yeah, the video helps. I did misspeak and it isn't more points of failure, but it is a more expensive point of failure. I would rather replace a $8-$15 riser, rather than a $250 mobo. We aren't all experts like you are and some of us want to see someone demo a set up before we know everything. Calm down and enjoy your elitism somewhere else please.

Hi Panda! I also have one of these boards, but do not have a manual... Do you know where I can find a manual for it?
It ran fine for several months, then after a reboot, it decided to only boot with 7 cards, not 8. Didn't matter which card, or which slot... 8 cards and the device would not boot at all.
Runs fine with 7 right now, but would like to know why it decided to change.
    Thanks!

Спустя какое-то время третья карта (GPU 2), почему-то начала выдавать 25 хешей. Причем перезагрузка Рига и системы не помогла. Упорно даёт 25 хешей. В чём может быть причина?

so it is ok to set cards at hugely different watt on this mother board? I'm planning to put in a 3080ti oc at 280W and 7x 3060 at 115W.
I have try to use 2 psu on this board but it seems that doesn't work because the pcie slots are all interconnected; it pulls 90+% power from one psu according to my wattmeter on wall and doesn't pull much from 2nd psu. I connected half the motherboard pcie 6 pin to one psu and the rest to another and each psu plugged into 4 cards each.
